I have an idea with the giant spider prop
You get the fake spider web stuff from the store and get a fake plastic skeleton and wrap the skeleton with web and pose it and put it in the giant web
P.s. I did something like this

I don't understand why you need a hole in the cover. If your magnets are strong enough they will work through the cardboard cover.
To make the spooky automatic, you could add a foil pressure switch to the inside cover of the book. That way the weight of the bottle would connect the power to the motor and turn it on without needing to switch it on.

It has to be really close to work well through the thick glass bottom.

I did a edible version of this for my kids birthday party. You get your hands on some butterfly pea flower tea and edible luster dust. I steeped the tea to make a beautiful blue color. I then made vials with instant lemonade powder with a little bit of luster dust mixed in (I called it fairy powder). The kids put the blue liquid in their flasks, and then added the lemonade powder and stirred. The deep blue turns purple from the lemonade acidity and also turns swirly from the luster dust. The end result was a basic lemonade for the kids to drink that just looked magical. I added some Hibiscus flavoring to add some exoticness to the flavor and another step, but you could end it there.

You could add some led lights and a magnetic switch to the base unit and if you use tissue paper as a diffuser you can get rid of the food coloring. You can also use one of those remote control led lights that change color, really dress it up.

I had a fantasy video game themed birthday party this past summer and I had drinkable glitter potions! I used edible glitter from Brew Glitter and they were great! A little goes a long way. Friend of mine is great at making drinks and he used a mix of blue and red Brew Glitter to make a concoction he dubbed "Unicorn Tears".
This is a really neat way to have a magical glitter potion for a prop! Thanks for sharing this!

2 things … I make potion cocktails for Halloween parties. Edible dust in the drink and a small piece of dry ice to keep it bubbling!
Second, I made a storm bottle but it’s not great so please make that!!! I used a cork with attached fairy lights and poly fil I had colored with grey streaks. It’s a storm cloud in a bottle. I wish the lights would flicker though

If the fairy lights are plug in, you can attach a 'fluorescent starter' to an extension cord. It gives off a flickering effect on any light plugged into it. I did this on a couple of random strands inside the smoldering fire for my wicked makers witch cauldron. It looks great and the fluorescent starters are like 2 for $5 on amazon.

Unless your are using bigger wires, you don’t need the wire connectors (use electrical tape). You will also need to remove some of the sheathing from the wires. Love this project but def don’t need the ports.😅 and use the tweezer tools to help with removing the sheathing. 👍🏼

    • @WickedMakers
      @WickedMakers  ปีที่แล้ว +2

For sure! The wire connectors are just less intimidating for people who have never worked with wires. Definitely better off either soldering with a heat shrink wrap or just doing a twist with tape like you said. 🤘🏼😄 Glad you’re building it!!

This is excellent, but i would advise putting a second magnet on the other side of the quarter (flipped to present an opposite polarity to the first magnet) so as to balance out the quarter. Otherwise you have an unbalanced load which will make the motor spindle/bearings wear unevenly over time. It'll make it much less noisy if it's well balanced as well!

Completed my 'Enchanted Potion' project last night. I did 2 'potions' on my book. I wanted to have larger bottles so I ran into a few walls with the magnet in the bottle. Since the volume was so much more, the magnet either wouldn't move (assuming due to the weight) or it wouldn't have enough inertia to really move the solution fast enough to mix the mica powder. Thankfully the motor kit I bought (the one in the description below was OOS) was a 'mini windmill' kit so it had propellers! After modifying the propellers and outfitting them is magnets everything looks amazing! Thank you Wicked Makers for such a cool Halloween haunt project! Next is making a 'spider egg sack'!

good tip too on why to use the glycerin/water mix instead of rubbing alcohol, is that cork stoppers absorbing the rubbing alcohol could become a passive combustible, like linseed oil on rags.

A cool cheap way to do potion bottles is to fill them with water. Take a pack of florescent markers & remove the cartridge & put one in each bottle & let them sit. Then take out the cartridge & squeeze out all the liquid into it. Then you can sit all the bottles under a black light & they'll glow florescent. I did my witch cauldron this way with the neon yellow & water. Looks awesome & glows super bright.

Add some strontium aluminate powder. It's a next-gen phosphorescent which will glow for as much as 30-60 minutes after being charged up. The neat thing about strontium aluminate is that it absorbs ultra-violet and radiates in the visible range, so if you want it to glow _forever_ all you need to do is add a UV LED underneath to keep the powder charged. The naked eye won't see the UV LED, but you'll see the glow from the powder. You could even use this as a night-light.

I LOVE this! Conceptually simple, but it looks so cool. It's even better when you realize the book is Twilight. You can always find those at thrift stores 🙂

Great project; some simplification I am building into basic idea.
    1. use a DEVMO 2pcs USB 5V DC Fan or other, glue magnets; now you can add wind effect and have no wiring solution.
    2. power source can now be any usb power brick or just a plug in wall adapter for usb (we all have these, reducing complexity and cost).

I'd love to know where the lab stand (2:48) for the bottle came from - it's perfect for holding a Felix Felicis/Liquid Luck vial for my display. I haven't had any luck searching online and it isn't in the list of materials used under the description.

I've made this one and I'm finalizing the artistic touches on the book. One issue I had was that my hot glue did not hold up on the inside the bottle (I used a beaker from a craft store) and dissolved? Anyone else having this issue? I took Peppy the Clown's advice below and ordered some stirring bars, so maybe that will help. For those curious, my liquid needed about a tablespoon of mica powder for the desired affect and it is around 6 oz to maybe 8 oz at most. Love the channel and my wife and I are trying to do some of the DIY stuff that you showcase!

The way the stirring in the crystal ball works is essentially identical to magnetic stirrers that are used in chemistry labs. You could also opt to buy a cheap pre-made magnetic stir bar/pill and use a (DIY) magnetic stirrer. A magnetic stirrer can be made quite easily with an old PC fan as well, as hit has a nice flat spinning hub at the center to which you can glue two magnets (needed for the stir bar/pill).

Nice build. I've recently been thinking about using wireless leds in my builds. They would be perfect for making this potion glow. You'll have to waterproof them. A few coats of resin should do. You also a coil to provide an electromagnetic field. You can get them through Adafruit or you could repurpose a wireless phone charger.

LED lights would add to the magical effect. For other potions you can use the liquid in glow sticks.
For drinking potions, I'm sure there's safe ways to use dry ice. Recently TH-cam recommended the channel, loving it!

Awesome idea with the magnets. Also I think cutting the hole in the book, may have been easier if you used a holesaw. But then I guess others may feel like they couldn't do the project. Which makes since why you didn't go that route. And thanks for the awesome content.. take care

Nicely done. I've seen a video where you can add edible glitter with it, for any drinkable potion. There's also a color shift type with mica powder. I've got some odd shaped or decorated bottles.

One other thing to do is to add an LED to the circuit to shine up through the hole to illuminate the liquid.

This would be great to have a couple that do this and then apply same to a small.cauldron with a spinning spoon and I side lit up with green.
    Thanks. You sparked many ideas.

Fyi, If you're working in a book make your first step gluing the pages. You don't need to do it individually, instead brush glue around the edges of the pages when the book is closed (like where gold leaf usually is). Put wax paper between the front pages and cover, so you can open it to work inside after the glue dries. The glue will dry clear and hold the book as if its a wood block.
