More like this, please. I love to hear about the history of fabric as well. I graduated last year fashion and textiles but still feel I don't know enough about fabrics and weights.
Thank you for this excellent video! There’s nothing better than learning about a subject from someone who is a self-proclaimed nerd about it! That is truly one of the best things about the internet 😊
I love this idea! Fabric, and all the many many types, has confused me since I started sewing. Seeing the long list of names on the back of patterns and struggling to match them to fabric in the store gave me headaches! Thank you for sharing your extensive knowledge.
Total fabric nerd here too. I learned a whole lot from this video. I have not tried to do anything with fancy fabric yet. I have some that I brought back from India that I need to do something with. I loved working in a textile mill. We did upholstery and awning fabric. Most of it was plain weave but we did some twills and fancier weaves. Also, you and my wife have the same taste in movies. She loves all the old musicals.
Omg!! This segment sparked SO MANY IDEAS!!!!! Well done my friend!! Please consider covering as many fabrics as possible! Along with your favorite shops that sell quality fabrics. It is SO DISCOURAGING to spend money on cheap fabrics.
So enjoyed this video - absolutely fascinating to hear about the different fabrics. Would love to hear more. Your explanations are so easy to understand and loved the example pictures. ❤
Thank you for the feedback. I wasn't sure if this would be something anyone would be interested in. I am excited to plan out another group of fabrics to share.
So, "woof" is related to the word "weave" - and so is "weft" (from "weaved"). I don't know the exact details, but I expect they passed down to us through different dialects of Middle English. That would explain why their vowels are so different.

Happy graduation! I look forward to sharing more. There is so much to sewing and textiles. I am always learning.
