I love watching unboxings. Helps me not to order more, I have enough in my stash as it is! I love Folkwear patterns. I have a Japanese one for a hakama, and a Chinese jacket one (with a purple brocade) Heaven knows when I will wear them, but it makes me happy.
I try to sew something out of my stash every few projects. I love to see what others are sewing and what inspires them too! I have a few Folkwear patterns and love them but I don't have that jacket! It sounds so lovely. Some of my favorite projects are ones I seldom wear but the process or the finished item is so lovely! They are art that hang in my closet!
Thanks. That was fun to watch your excitement with the new tools and fabrics. I can’t wait to see what you pick to do first. It’s too bad you haven’t received commission for what you link for Amazon. I bought the mini vacuum this way through your site. I love it btw!
That little vacuum is so great! I use it all the time. Even if I don't get a commission, it makes it so easy to link for everyone trying to find what I show in the videos. Happy Sewing!
How exciting to get Sewing Christmas in late January! I'd be drooling over all the goodies. The bendy-ruler is genius - I've never seen one, but sure want one now. The royal brocade is luscious; I really wanted to touch it. It reminds me of the lining I put in a midi-length hooded cape I made in high school. Outside was brown tweedy wool, and inside was an ivory satin brocade fabric. The lining made the cape because there was an oversized lined hood that got everyone's attention. I also made one in ivory wool with ivory satin lining for my best friend. (Her mother also liked it and wore it to a party where she spilled red wine all over it. All these years later, I'm still miffed at that woman.) These will be such fun projects. I do know what you mean about the complexities of details. That's always were the devil is. Thank you, and cheers from Norman!!!
Since you’re planning a video on a petticoat, you might think about extending it to a half slip, specifically cotton batiste for summer.i remember having one (bias cut for stretch and ease) to wear under summer dresses and I wore it out. A few years ago I made my daughters linen dresses, one was royal and the other was a baby pink. That daughter said it was sheer enough to need a slip or chemise so I made her one with the Ogden Cami(extended in length) pattern. She loved it and it was lightweight and cool.
Yes!! I'd love to see something about a lightweight cotton half-slip. Stores don't carry then, and even Amazon has a pitiful selection. Many of us curvy-types have a tough time finding such undergarments.
That’s a great idea! I will definitely add that to my list. The pattern I bought for the petticoat has the full and half slip options. I will think on it and find the perfect pattern.
So excited to see the cocoon coat take shape. I love costumes but always talk myself out of making them because of their impracticality. You are inspiring me though to think about making something rich looking and sumptuous! Maybe something more small scale like a bag or accessory or a vest…
I am excited about it too! I am anxiously awaiting the final ingredients so I can dive in. I will be doing the fun little reticule too. That would be a great small project that could be glammed up. A vest is a great idea! Sometimes it is necessary to create for creative sake. I always learn from them and enjoy the process. I usually talk my hubby into a night out so I can wear it. 😅
So fun seeing your haul. I am anxious to see the cocoon coat, I've long been intrigued by that pattern. It surprised me to hear that you were intimidated by any sewing project; I see you as having crazy good sewing skills!
Thank you! I am so excited about the Cocoon Coat. In the mean time I am doing The lovely wool I bought this summer in another vintage coat pattern. Loving these fun projects and getting back in the sewing groove.
wow $120.00 + just for 1 trim! Gonna be a very expensive c0at. I looked ar the sonia estep site, thought about trying the evie top ... i will not be doing that. It is for paterons only. Also, her things are expensive. I am a very budget minded sewist. Most of my fabrics are thrifted. I get excited over my purchases. I dont wreck myself as a Senior on Social security. Thank you so much for sharing.
No, it was under $12.00 for the whole 10 yard hank. There is a link in the description so you can see the one I bought. I by all my patterns on sale. Sonia runs great sales and does bundle discounts. Sewing can be very expensive! I love that you thrift fabric. When I lived in OKC and KC there were some great places to thrift fabric. Happy sewing!
Great haul. Very interesting projects. I just added an ugly petticoat to a New Look pleated skirt for a bride's reception outfit. I used her grandmothers dress organza fabric as the "tulle". Skirt looks lovely but underskirt not so much. Looking forward to your try. BTW Do you ever do an Instagram destash for you excess supplies? I don't do Facebook.
Thank you! It is hard to add something less than lovely to a beautiful garment. The feeling of knowing the hidden parts of the outfit are also beautiful. I have often thought about doing a clear-out on Instagram but wasn't sure if anyone would be interested. I need to get organized first to do it! I will give a heads-up when I get around to it.
I enjoyed your video presentation , love your choice of fabric, we have similar taste . I have one question the fabric you were wearing I have purchased several yards in the different color pattern I per washed it and it turned out fine but some said that it can get little lint balls after wash and wear. Do you have any suggestions for care ,I would hate to spend time making garment that get ruined for wear. Also I just subscribed to your channel and looking forward to your creative process.
Thank you for subscribing. So far I haven't had any pilling on my fabric. It hasn't been washed too many times yet, though. I find pilling usually happens where the fabric rubs against itself like in the underarm. As to how to stop it. The only thing I know is to wash inside out. I made a jacket that I have worn very regularly for two years and it is just starting to pill. I have been trimming (or shaving the problem areas. I would like a good solution too!
This is something I try to fix in the edit. I use two cameras one with an external mic. I will continue to fine tune the edits. Thank you for letting me know.

Clearly you were in a good mood digging into that box of fabric. Those will be some fun projects. I am looking forward to the videos.
Nothing like new fabric to make my day better! Happy sewing!

I would be a bit wounded myself if my lovely ivory creation were treated so. I love hearing about your projects. It fuels the inspiration!
Nice fabrics and patterns! I'm looking forward to your project next week. Thank you for sharing your haul😊
Thank you! I am working on the video for Wed this weekend. So much to sew! 🧵
@stacyrobbins that's great. Thanks so much!

Wow! I'm all for those extravagant pieces. Love! Beautiful blue. The trim is lovely. Love to see
Thank you! All the lovely findings make sewing so much more fun and interesting to me. I know most sewists are the same.

Seems you have volume problems. When you are using the camera further away it is very hard to hear you.
