    Really would love to hear the thought of third year, fourth year medical students. Residents. Even attendings.

    Thank you, Seun being so authentic. As a med student from a minority background, I can empathize your experience. Whenever I see those med school vlogs on YT, they are all overly glamorized and make me so doubtful of myself whether I am working hard or enjoying enough in med school. It is so rare to see someone like you who shares real experiences in med school

    I hate subjective grading- It opens the floodgates to discrimination/ favoritism. That is when representation in Medicine matters.

    honestly rotations feel like a whole other dimension of med school

    Yes, self-directed learning vs some level of being taught. And what time to ask to ask questions. It is professional hazing (and yes it tend to have a racial undertone)😢.

    Real talk 👏🏼 medical education must change. It shouldn’t be as traumatic as it is. Keep doing what you’re doing! ❤

    I love your videos. Thank you for helping pre-med & fellow med students! The part about speaking up for yourself and advocating for yourself really resonated with me. As an older, "non trad" I know many of the residents will be younger than me, not even just my age!

    I agree with your opinion.
    Same happens with Nurse Practitioner schools clinical rotations.
    May you find grace in all you do. Great that you’re speaking for the general medical students.
    (Interesting that you also referred to Pancreatitis Management).

    I loved this video and I love the fact that you discussed reporting. It's so important to take the channels and create the environment we deserve. Not a med student yet but as a grad student this was so important!!

    I actually came here to see if you had the same experience I am having. I am trying to wrap my head around how to make things fair because it is exactly how you expressed: Subjective. The hard part is it doesn’t seem to bother anyone else but it is frustrating trying to meet the expectations of different people. It seems like it is your word against theirs. It’s hard to prove that they are grading you harder than your counterparts.

    Thank you so much for all the advise. It's definitely important to protect yourself. And taking moments to acknowledge your mistakes and learning even in difficult situations.

    Listening to you, all I can say/pray is that I am looking forward to, by God’s grace, to the video that says you have graduated and are licensed to practice as a Medical Doctor Seun - to God be the highest glory in Jesus Christ name, Amen. May God bless your parents and all who support you.
    Please know that you loved 🥰

    I’m glad u brought up subjectivity also sometimes the people with the personalities the physicians like sometimes get more grace IMO that’s not fair that bothers me, some people want to come in and do what they came to do.Not everyone wants to make small talk.
    Ps: I also apologize I was one of those people who commented in your other video. I think I was projecting based off my personal experience. I know when I went to caribbean med school. I had no right to assume about other peoples bodies.

    Leaving a second comment to just say what a relief it is to see someone speak honestly and accurately about 3rd year rotations! I don’t know many of my classmates very well because we all went to Zoom University thanks to the p-demmy so I don’t have many people to vent to. I love your point about coming into a rotation and setting up expectations right from the jump, gonna try that for myself!

    I feel very happy I found this video. Lots of things that u said I felt them during the med school and couldn't put them into words. I wasn't that sure about me as I can feel you are, but still watching you give me hope, and I hope it would help others that are still at med school.

    Girl, It’s giving the ghettos 😭😭😭😭😭😭. Honestly navigating third year has been really tough and it feels like being thrown into the deep end. I wish that during pre clinical years my school allowed us to go into hospitals for 1-2 weeks to experience some of this idk. Because something needs to change. Anyways I am glad you are doing well on yours and I pray that your rotations only get better from here.

      Girl I been having too much fun on OBGYN. I feel likes it’s gonna go downhill from here lmao. Cus remaining rotations don’t give as much variety so I’ll literally be doing same stuff everyday. Either mostly clinic or mostly OR

    Why are grown folks still publicly commenting about someone’s body?!

    Do you have an opinion on medical students who add "doctor" to their social media? Ive notcied it on TH-cam more and more. Personally, I think it's really misleading.

    • @SeunSpeaks
      @SeunSpeaks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      If someone is adding “doctor” only context should be in the context stating “student doctor”. I personally wouldn’t have a a handle saying “md” or solely “doctor” I’d say im a student doctor. No one should call themselves an MD without having the degree not only for integrity but programs and schools can see these things.

    Hi Seun, could you shed light on why you view exercise as self care. I saw a reel on Instagram you made recently. Wouldn’t that be extra work? I thought self care is supposed to be little effort and feels good. Did you have an initial struggle to maintain consistency in the beginning? I hope to start med school next year and have healthy tools to destress and cope.
    I appreciate your time
    Milton

    • @SeunSpeaks
      @SeunSpeaks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My IG caption was as explanatory as I probably will get. What is enjoyable for one person may not be for the next. The intention behind the post wasn’t to convince people whether or not exercise is self care.
      Regardless of why I personally see it as self care, exercising is something that promotes cardiovascular health. Isn’t taking care of your health a form of self care? Self care is not a one size fits all and definitely no one said it’s always suppose to be “effortless”. I encourage you to broaden your current views of what self care is or can look like in general, and for your personally.
