Luke Newton's performance as Colin strikes me as a very bold decision when you look at so many other male romantic leads. He's so earnest in this scene after so many masks all season; it's just so contrary to the typical stoicism obliged of your average male lead. Watching that obligation melt off of Colin felt liberating in the carriage scene. I think very little media allows men to embody desire in the way Luke does on screen. An emotionally intelligent man being down bad with nuanced microexpressions? Now that is the female gaze, imo. He understood the assignment entirely.
Because of the carriage scene, I came to realize that Luke Newton is a really, really good actor. His micro expressions are just superb. After watching bridgerton, I've searched clips of him in plays/musical and came to a conclusion that his background in that field helped him so much with his acting skills and applying micro expressions in them. Just, magnificent 💕
I hate that this gets missed by some fans sometimes. They only focus on his acting at a surface level instead of trying to see these little subtle moments he has with each facial expression he gives. Because of these, they miss out on so many crucial elements to understand his character and misjudge him and Colin all together. I have seen half and half, but it hurts to see so many comments saying he is a bad actor when he isn’t. And that Colin (when not talking about his book) is the worst.
He said in an interview that it was a roller coaster of emotion.. Quick shift of his feelings.. In a span of this 5 min scene.. Luke and Nic really did great with Season 3... The nuances and subtleties.. It's like watching it with fresh eyes... When you get to see things you missed the 1st time and noticed upon rewatch.. That's why I'm still watching s3.. 😅❤
Luke's eyes are insane in this season.. like I feel EVERYTHING! His eyes are literally doing everything. I've never seen someone act with their eyes as beautifully as he does, it's actually INSANE.
Omg RIGHT?!?!?! His eyes are LITERALLY everything, in EVERY scene with Pen! Whether he’s longing for her or romancing her, you can just feel it pierce your entire soul!!! 🥹🥹😭
Old style, classic deeply good acting like vintage movies. Not many male leads are taking their acting as seriously as this young man. I cannot help but believe that he has studied classic film actors like James Stewart or Cary Grant and totally "got" why facial expression and subtle non verbal actions MAKE a scene fabulous.SO nice that he is not just a pretty face.
"Literally looks like he ascended to another planet and has no idea where he is" loved that lol. The whole analysis is spot on. It definitely felt like a very intimate scene, perfectly explained why it is such a popular scene and perfectly acted by Luke and Nic.
I thought the same thing. Colin doesn't know his own name or where he is in that moment 😂 funnier still when we learned that Nicola is the one to stop the scene because they "didn't hear" cut. Luke also didn't know his own name then either haha 😂
Also I think Colin's lines here - cannot, will not, do not want to give up is so important later because his devastation at learning the truth about Pen as lady whistle down is no match for his complete love for her. He marries her without hesitation with a smile on his face even though he's angry and upset (mostly with himself) underneath. It's incredible to see a male lead character with this much surety and knowledge on tv. Colin is a true gentleman and knows he loves Pen with his whole heart
One of my favorite moments of the season is when they turn to face the crowd after they are wed the camera pans down to their hands. They each seek the other's hand. Despite all the turmoil they are both feeling, all the conflicting emotions, they are still what each other finds comfort in. The camera pan tells me it was intentional, but I still think a lot of people miss the importance of the moment and how it illustrates their feelings for each other.
@@byMidnyt people have missed a lot of beautiful moments like this, because they want everything spell out for them, they wanted Colin to break the fourth wall 😂😂, its a tv show there is visuals to help you understand a character( face expression and body language)
@@ru3144 no I think the problem was people want him like the books which he was but in the book his anger was on display but need to be close to her was a top priority. The fact that he always made her feel loved not neglected while fighting his anger. Many great scenes could have come from it
@@chaylia9119 first we cant compare the book and the show, Colin and Penelope have different experiences with each other, different personalities, different ages, and different past, I think the show did a good job portraying Colin's character growth if we compare it to s1 and s2 it makes sense he reacted this way, in s3 part 2 Colin still showed he loved and cared for Penelope even when he was hurting, I don't see when he made Penelope feel neglected, if it was because he didn't have sex on their wedding night, then people have bigger issues, you dont owe your partner sex, Colin loves and respects her enough that he put their feelings over his lust, Penelope was the one who made the mistake to kept the lw secret and hurt and betrayed Colin, so it was her who needed to reassurance Colin of her love and thats what she did, Colin have every right to process his feelings and he did it in less than two weeks, people need to start seeing Colin as an individual and not only as Penelope love interest. They would aprecciate more their love story and their individual growth. I wish we had more happy scenes after they reconciled but that's not the format of bridgerton, they always do it this way, we have to wait until s4, the books and show have been so different since s1, after all its an adaptation and we should see it that way
@@ru3144period I’m glad you said it. Daphne and Simon fought all the way after she discovered he was lying until the last 5 mins I’m not gonna talking about kanthony because that was literally all angst, barely any happy scene in the whole season Compared to these two seasons, we got a lot We’ll get more happy scenes next season. It’s only 8 episodes per season unfortunately and it’s an ensemble show with lots of story lines and characters
I do understand the complaints for season 3 as I myself wants more Polin scene specially on the last 2 episodes. However all the scenes moments they are together is very intimate, passionate, endearing, realistic and loving. S3 still my fave. Polin still the best couple for me..
I would always love more Polin, but part of those complaints had to do with the fact that the season was split into two parts. When they broke down all 3 seasons each of the main couples had roughly the same screen time with each other.
the erotic scenes we see with Polin feel so much more intimate instead of just downright sexual and that makes sense to me. they are so intimate and unique because at the end of the day they are 2 childhood friends who are coming to know each other in new ways, the friends to lovers arc definitely lends itself to sweeter/softer scenes and that's what made this season my absolute favorite :)
This scene 💯 couldn't have happened without the intentional work of Nicola and Luke. They've not only spent 3 years before filming this scene as coworkers and friends, but they consistently talked about it and how they wanted to do it. In one interview, Simone said she and Johnny never talked about it, and Nicola admitted she and Luke talked about it multiple times. Nicola read the books and prepped so hard for the role, and Luke said he appreciated having gotten to do 3 years of working on who Colin was before taking the lead role. It is so impressive how both actors didn't dismiss this job, but fully respected it and leaned into it. They wanted to honor the relationship for the fans. And it truly shows. And whatever level of relationship we all believe Luke and Nicola to have, it was deep enough here for them to trust each other, making the scene so real. The QC leads said their intimacy scenes were choreographed specifically. Luke and Nic have repeatedly said theirs was not, and they got to decide and explore the scenes. Of course, set design, lighting, costuming, and directing all play into the moment, but without Nic and Luke, it would not have been so special and addicting. I've NEVER watched something so much before. It's truly special and lightning in a bottle. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. 😂
So well said! Their relationship in real life supported the beauty and realness we feel with this scene and their relationship. This can't be understated. Thanks for sharing!
I was so satisfied with the fact that Colin was the one to say "Can the carriage driver keep on driving?" Because it was utterly satisfying to see him expressing claim on Penelope for the first time. The frustration that he feels, he's annoyed that the moment of absolute bliss he is sharing with her was interrupted. And him saying that was so aligned with Colin's character because, and it's what sent me high as a viewer, as you said, he wasn't the one being serviced! He was pleasuring Pen and it gave him pleasure in return. 😍🔥 To have a male character in tv to be so in tune with his love interest, the attention he's paying to her, the investment he has in her pleasure for him to have pleasure in return is just so so refreshing. I'm not saying it doesn't exist in other series/film, but being on display to such an extent, I doubt it. There are so many reasons that made me love this scene and I'm not gonna repeat what you said, because you said it all with such elegance and attention to detail. I'm so grateful you exist in the fandom Sammy among all the people that keep posting videos to diss season 3, the writing and/or acting 🙏 Colin and Pen's love story makes me so emotional: the perfect acting from the two leads who completely understood their characters, the way the characters bond, the way they value each other, how Colin is attentive to Pen's needs and pleasure... I could list things forever, but these two characters and their coming together deeply move me ❤️🥹
Like we were so ridiculously lucky these two were paired together, and with a lengthy PR tour where we learn their process. Both actors struggled in the biz for years with regular jobs, hustling, and they don't take this job for granted and gave their all. It really shows. Plus them being friends for 3 years prior made their connection so palpable, can't manufacture that.
@brynbailey7132 Absolutely! If you take a look at the cast playing the Bridgerton children and their spouses, Jonathan Bailey is probably the most known of all, having an established career in tv and theater and a few movies under his belt. All the others were struggling, being happy when they would land a part or a role somewhere. Claudia Jessie is a prime example of that. There are a few articles about her that you can read in The Guardian. I recommend it. I read articles and interviews of Nicola, there are also videos made by Netflix's TH-cam in which Nic and Luke (they're not featured in the same video I mean, it's different videos for each of them) talk about their journey as actors and yes they struggled. Nicola even suffered from depression at some point. Not landing any part, and barely being able to make ends meet. None of them take this job for granted, and I think it helps a lot to keep them grounded. And to give their all for the character they are portraying. To handle them with a lot of love and care. On top of that, like you said, Luke and Nicola's friendship was another important factor to bring the character to life and have their characters and their relationship feel "real". Oh I cannot imagine anyone else playing Colin and Pen. I wouldn't want anyone else. I am deeply grateful they are the one who were cast to portray them. I'm so glad the casting team chose lesser known or barely known actors, and that didn't mean they were not loaded with talent (quite the contrary!), who they felt would be perfect for their respective character, rather than go the easy way and choose famous actors, giving in to the appeal of popularity that would potentially attract more viewers for the show. The cast of Bridgerton is one of the major reasons this show holds a special place in my heart. I'm always looking for the drawing room scenes, the ABC brothers' scenes, and overall any family scenes, really. Eloise and Colin's scenes were totally phenomenal this season! I'm glad we even had some Colin and Benedict together without Anthony. I can't wait to see Pen added to the family dynamic next season! The chemistry between the cast members and their playfulness on set, these are things that cannot be staged. Each and any BTS video only confirms that. And if us viewers hold this show dearly in our hearts, I think it goes the same way for the actors in it. For the aforementioned reasons. They love working on this show because they know their coworkers are equally invested as they are, as they know what it means for them to be here (in their career, in their life). It's a gathering of people who care about their art, and not a gathering of ego. And the on set atmosphere is exceptional because from season1 already they bonded with each other. So I think they probably see working on Bridgerton set as this cocoon, this safe place they are happy to come back to. And maybe I dare say look forward to come back to. I saw an article saying that Johnny and Simone have stated their desire to keep coming back for future seasons and so have Luke and Nicola. I knew it already for the latter two from elsewhere, but I'm very glad to read that Johnny and Simone have also expressed the same wish. I'm not even surprised the actors want to come back to this show, like I said, for all the reasons I mentioned. To end this extremely long answer, the promo tour was the icing on the cake this season. The ton of PR we got was just insane! Nicola and Luke did as great in PR tour as they did on set. We were lucky they were paired indeed! It was a fan's dream and they did deliver! Haha Sorry for the massive block of text, Bridgerton makes me very talkative, something I'm not much the rest of the time. I'm very passionate about this show, which is why. I don't have anyone around me that I could talk to that enjoys this show. So I take an opportunity when I see one!
@@Almarilys I love what you wrote. As a viewer you can feel the love and admiration the cast has for each other and their deep gratitude for being part of this show. There aren't any huge egos. I agree that choosing lesser known actors is part of the brilliance of the casting. None of them are bigger than the part and they are all so talented. Nicola said she got the part after 1 audition, but it took her months to get the part of Claire in Derry Girls. She said she didn't have a chemistry test with anyone for Bridgerton. Although I think she could have chemistry with a rock. ha, ha...
The way he can’t stop looking at her is what makes this SO sexy. Same with the mirror scene. He can’t stop looking at her expressions. Making sure that she’s ok and whether or not she’s enjoying him. Men need to take notes from these scenes for real life.
When Colin stepped out of the carriage and offered his hand to Penelope, It was like "there he is, there's season 1 Colin" to me. I can't really define what it was in his expressions there that made me recall it, but he had been so down in season 2, and masking himself at least somewhat up to that point in season 3, that seeing his happiness and slightly teasing energy to Pen then that he truly felt like the original Colin, with a bit more maturity. It was such a relief.
This is brilliant and also it cannot be over expressed how brilliant these actors are. Being an actor (theatre not film), I have a unique perspective. I’ve had to do love scenes, I’ve had to watch countless love scenes. And obviously there are all the tv and film scenes we’ve all seen our whole lives. There is an authenticity to this scene that I haven’t seen before in tv or film. They managed to expertly craft all these moments of this rollercoaster of emotions while it still appearing spontaneous and messier (thus more real) than Hollywood love scenes usually are. In their interviews Luke and Nicola talk about wanting these scenes to feel real and so much work and consideration has gone into that. One thing that Nicola has mentioned many times is that an intimacy coordinator doesn’t choreograph the whole scene… just gives them certain moments to hit and then they were able to fill the gaps between those set moments organically. That is not actually always how an intimacy scene is choreographed. It depends on the coordinator and it depends on the actors. That is her experience, but sometimes every move is choreographed. In fact, you hear the Queen Charlotte cast talk in interviews about how choreographed and mechanical their scenes were. In another interview Simone Ashley talks about how her and Johnny Bailey never talked about the scenes outside of doing them. I am not putting down any of their work at all, just pointing out the difference. That was not the case for Nicola and Luke. Because of their close personal existing bond that they had built over years of working together they were able to talk and even joke about these scenes… in Nicola’s words… “constantly.” Their trust in each other and open communication before they even set foot in this carriage is what makes this scene what it is. Just as Penelope and Colin trust each other implicitly, so do Luke and Nicola. These are two actors that feel completely safe with each other. The director, showrunner, and intimacy coordinator clearly (to an extent) took their two stars’ lead in these scenes. You are looking at two people that have a lot of agency and control over what they are doing. That is rarely the case. This is truly a collaborative effort. And it can’t be replicated because of the unique chemistry and trust between these two artists. This pairing has been a gift. And I’ve been geeking out over both of their acting for a month. They have undeniable chemistry which of course you can’t really manufacture, but their performances should not be distilled down to only that. So much thought has been put into every moment of their performances and so skillfully crafted. The complexity of their performances has truly been a joy to watch.
Well said 👏 the fact that they both worked for years in this business on stage and screen before this role not only prepared them skill wise, but made them appreciate landing such a big role, and they don't take it for granted. They both worked extremely hard understanding the characters and the source material, and it shows. I hope they have lots of continued success (but also never leave Bridgerton lol) 😂
The Carriage Scene still blows me away even though I've seen it over and over. They both did an amazing job. ..really understood their characters...the writing was great here too...they managed to express complicated feelings without saying a word. I'm obsessed!
I see their chemistry, talents and abilities as a force of nature. Like rolling winds, gushing and roaring waves and the deep penetrating silence of the deepest of seas. When they’re together they bolt out of their pretty cages only to return at least on the outside to the illusion of separation. They’ve found in each other a mirror to remind them that their going to play this game called life full out and full in. ❤❤❤❤❤
what was obvious to pen when colin asked her to come along was she thought she’s being invited to continue what they were doing in the carriage in his room, hence her worriedly asking “but your family will see me.”, because otherwise she’s so down for it😭🤣
Exactly this! She had not caught up yet to the fact that Colin was all in. No part of her thought the proposal was immediately imminent. She was just ready to hold on to whatever he was offering for as long as she could. Same in the book which is why she fell flat on her face when he asked. 😅
Agreed. It's a crime they have not been nominated for an Emmy for the first half of the season. I have never felt so invested and captivated by an onscreen couple. I hope they clean up when the People's Choice awards come around.
Carriage scene 🎬 you are forever immotalized in history as iconic, authentic, erotic, artistic, reverent, and pure romance fantasy genius. Bravo! 👏 👏 👏
Everyone is always praising Nicola, and while it's very well-deserved, Luke doesn't get nearly enough credit for how incredible he is as an actor, especially in season 3.
The carriage scene was exquisite. Very intimate and no other scene readily comes to mind which has quietly conveyed so much intimate intensity. Right after their final kiss as he's watching her; it's another moment where you see his thoughts and his decision making as his slightly nods "yes" to himself (very easily missed) as he steps out the carriage. This scene solidified Luke's acting skills. That man can convey so much thought and emotions in silence. Unexpected delivery from Luke.
I had the same thought-Colin is deciding in that moment that he is ready to make a commitment to this woman, right now. “Yes!” That’s it! I am in awe of how precisely and perfectly Luke Newton communicated his character’s inner monologue with only his facial expressions and subtle movements. Yowza.
i simply loved the fact that Colin indecisiveness ends at this point --- finally understanding his feelings towards Pen... Polin season is simply romantic and intimate in all ways possible... Luke and Nicola outdid themselves... thank you @SammyBates for this in-depth analysis...
Even when they are at odds after this point due to the LW reveal, there's never a doubt that he loves her and will always be there for her. He is firmly committed to her from this point on.
This is the only season that has been described as intimate.. which shows how deep their love and care for each other goes That’s why in every make out or love scene they had, it was too romantic and intimate and even some people felt like they were watching two lovers who had never been touched before finally touch themselves…. (Even though Colin had been with women prior to pens)
This is a brilliant analysis of brilliant acting and a deep emotional bond which goes beyond just being actors, co-workers and friends. It's a mixture of their characters and them, both being surprised about what is happening to them emotionally and physically. As if they're taken by surprise, not yet fully understanding what this is all about. This is where the intimacy comes from. And we all are so privileged to be witnesses of this pure moment of two souls, mating deeply. 💖
Aww, thank you for pointing out her panic and his teasing at the end before he proposed.I haven’t been able to articulate what that is. “There’s something amusing for him because he’s so sure and she’s so unsure”
I cannot express to you enough how well you personify my thoughts. I did nothing but agree with you from start to finish about the way you described legit everything! It’s so refreshing to see somebody break down the simplest of details that draws the satisfaction i felt throughout this entire scene. The carriage scene was a flood gate opening, it broke down emotional walls and created something entirely new, a different feeling only colin and penelope could deliver. Colin has always been so unsure of hisself and penelope has never let herself open up enough to be on the receiving end of anything she could ever want for herself .. this scene changes everything. Colin’s resolution is so much more prominent.. he holds a sense of confidence knowing that penelope is his purpose, she quenched his thirst of feeling incomplete. Colin opened up penelope’s eyes and showed her the remarkable woman that she is, that there’s no need to hide, that she can be confident and strong and beautiful.. and that it is okay to want things for yourself and you can grab it with both hand as you take and revel in it. We see them both finding themselves all the while getting lost within each other. 10/10 scene and just one of MANY reasons why i think s3 is the best season of the Bton series, and you’ve done nothing but just solidify my opinion and i thank you ❤❤
You can be touch starved while still having been touched, just means it wasn’t by the right person! You can hug or kiss someone but if in your heart you wish it was someone else, it won’t give you the same energy and feeling. His reaction to her was so spot on because it was the perfect representation of true longing being fulfilled and the electricity behind it!
I will go to my grave saying that Pen’s hair touch and Colin’s reaction has been and will forever will be the most erotic scene in Bridgerton. I can’t believe Nicola and Luke gave us this gift!!!!
Agreed! The moment I first saw his face, I thought holy shi* and immediately had to rewind it to watch it again. Those expressions are everything. The last moment where he looked up at her and smiled with that look.. oh my, 🔥.. erotic and the biggest turn-on.
This scene... I'm a fan of the books. I was waiting for a hot scene. But I got an WOW. Suffering, feelings, passion, respect, worship. WHAT A SCENE! I never cease to admire the damn brilliant performances of these actors. The fact that this season was met with mixed reactions by many makes me think it will eventually become a cult favorite. Because there are hundreds of reasons for this. All it takes is time and attention.
In the first watch, I loved it but also somehow it felt slightly… off. It took me several rewatches to realize what it was: how real it is. Like, almost uncomfortably real. Like you’re a voyeur on an intimate moment you shouldn’t be watching real. Colin’s slack jawed wide-eyed response to her touch. The believably natural, deeper tone of Pen’s gasps (versus the usual high-pitched, girlish wide eyed and continuous exclamations grown women always seem to make in most sx scenes on film). The way he’s pressed into her, face buried in her neck while she’s experiencing pleasure - versus what we too often see, which is a man touching a woman while watching himself pleasing her rather than focusing on participating in the act and feeling her response rather than watching her respond. And finally, something she didn’t mention but after the sweet kiss when the carriage stops, they tilt their heads together at the forehead. That is exactly what two people in love would do. It’s again the idea they’re fully in sync. That is a small action of relaxation, and an action of partners who are able to literally and figuratively lean on each other. All in all, one of the most touching and loving portrayals of physical intimacy on film. Watching it without the music only makes it feel moreso. Brilliant.
You found what I couldn't put into words why I loved this scene so much and felt so uncomfortable. It was like watching my best fanfics: They are too pure for this world.
THIS is exactly it. Amazing breakdown. The subtleties. The nuances. In every aspect of this scene. From directing, cinematography, lighting, camera angles, sounds, music. Actor's choices. Iconic scene and elevated by the score. You perfectly enumerated why this works on so many levels and why we the audience can't let this scene go. I will forever come back to it. TBH, I never left the carriage. The fact that this was the most beautiful, intimate, and sexiest spicy scene in the history of Bridgerton (IMO) and the only skin exposed was Pen's shoulder and half of her calf. I'm in awe. Now please do Mirror scene! Also beautiful, sexy, intimate and glorious in its own way. But Carriage scene will always be #1 for me.
The first view I had of this scene - I found it so shocking, I felt like it was too much too quickly- but I have come to love it, respect it. I watch the first part more than the end over and over. It is satisfying that they come together. I like the lead up in ep 3 where he talks to Violet and onward, and the joining in ep 5 even more than this scene overall. But, in truth, I can’t get enough of this season. It has made me a bit broken. I downloaded Netflix to my phone just so I could rewatch Colin and Pen’s performances whenever I find a moment. I feel like a sad, stupid girl…and feel bad for my husband. I don’t know when this will let go of me. Thanks for your videos 👏❤️
Sis, I'm with you 100%! I think for those of us who have been in long term relationships, even though we may absolutely love our partner, we also have the memory of first love, of the thrill of that first connection, but we're also recognizing and missing the feeling of that payoff. The moment where you realize you are with someone who truly loves you is overwhelming and Nicola could not have embodied that feeling any better in this scene. We have been on this journey of unrequited love with Pen for 2 seasons, to see the tables turn is delicious! To be frank, those first feelings of love are fleeting, when one has many years under their belt (pardon the euphemism, lol) it tends to be replaced with a more tempered, steady and familial love. There can still be passion, but a first kiss, a first everything is incomparable. I'm convinced it's why people cheat, some people can't get past the thrill because it's intoxicating. It makes me glad that there are artists making works like this one on Bridgerton, I can live out those exciting moments of first love all over again without ever having to be unfaithful to the man that loves me. Gotta say, it has also made for adding a little thrill of our own back, enough that I got the comment, "Uh oh...you've been watching that romance show..." followed by too many giggles. I wish you and your husband many future giggles
These comments here are so spot on. And I'm sure that a lot of husbands in the world (my own one included) are equally fed up with "that romance show" and thankful for all the giggles that come with it (specially with S3) 😂😂😂
Anyone else notice that when Pen is experiencing pleasure, instead of giving into the moment fully she reaches for Colin and brings him closer to her, so that she can go through that moment with him as physically close as he can be to her 25:01? Nic does this several times - in this scene, the mirror scene, and the last scene where she is on top and she pulls Colin up to her and kisses him. 🔥
It is to share the moment but also sometimes they are asking for comfort, reassurance and safety in an unknown experience/sxe act. This is the usual dynamic w/less experienced woman/virgin vs. a man. Daphne did the same thing w Simon on their wedding night. Colin is amazing. How many guys jump at the chance to do something TO woman rather than WITH them or better yet FOR them (I.e., expecting/demanding nothing in return)
Luke’s micro expressions and those nuances really got me rewatching this scene numerous times 👏🏼 and Nic/Luke to the core do understand Pen/Colin so much that everything, anything made sense when both realized their feelings for each other! ❤
Part 2: the emotional intimacy This is why it warms my heart as not only a friends to lovers girly, but a demi romantic. I don’t get turned on by sex scenes. But Polin’s in the book in the show hit differently. It is not because of the physical intimacy, but the emotional intimacy. I like that you get his confession and him constantly checking to make sure he is not crossing any boundaries. I love how he makes sure she is ok with every step of the process. I also love that she does too. She makes sure he wants to kiss her back before they go in to do it together. Every touch they provide is romantic and stems from emotions. Why they can move onto this next step is because they have built everything from the beginning. They created a foundation. They earned each other’s trust. They know enough intimate details about each other to trust that this is ok. I also love that this is the first scene, in my opinion where it is not just about the man wanting to please the woman because of ego. I am tired of that trope. This is where while he wants to please her, he wants to be lost in this moment too. And I am going to say something cheesy, but it is true. This is the first time in this show that I have seen two people become 1. Each of their scenes feels like making love and not just having sex. They are exploring their love through this physical act. Kathany’s scenes in this season almost felt like that, but theirs seemed to feel more like lust than emotional intimacy.
Ive always known the characters super well but with your analysis it has made the intimacy i love between them even more special to me and their relationship dynamic one of my favourites that the show has ever displayed. I know some people hated the season but for us who really dont think we'll ever find love ,this season is so special to us .Thank you for this analysis. I can't wait to see the relationship analysis 🩵
Awww this was so beautiful! Loved your analysis. We always knew Nicola is an amazing actress but this scene is where Luke REALLY proves he’s an equal scene partner. The way we can see 5 different emotions play over Colin’s face within a few seconds … LUKE NEWTON AND HIS ACTING SKILLS!!! 👏👏👏 (iykyk) Also love that Pen at the end of the scene 100% believes she just invented friends with benefits and is totally gonna go for it. Oh, my sweet summer child.
Colin's acting, and his use of micro expressions, reminds me of Michael Sheen's outstanding work in Good Omens Season 2. Every fraction of a second is communicating thoughts and emotions, and it is devastating to be taken on the emotional rollercoaster with them. I keep rewatching all the Colin or Penelope scenes, particularly the Polin scenes, just to watch their expressions. I will find myself completely captivated by each of them, then watch the scene again to focus on the other's contribution. Two fantastic actors paired. This season would have been ruined without them.
I literally think this is my favourite video on the internet right now. Everything you explained - the way you repeated certain scenes numerous times whilst explaining it, helped me see what you were explaining and ACTUALLY understand it too. Thank you so much for creating this video as it has given me a new sense of admiration for their work! Luke & Nic honestly don't realise what they've done for the POLIN fans with this scene... I was literally on the edge of my seat watching this happen... I couldn't believe it but I LOVED it so much.
I have to say, you are an amazing storyteller. The level of enjoyment I got from the scene was elevated by 1000%, as if it was possible, thanks to your video.
Fantastic commentary! You truly enhanced my appreciation of a scene I already admired. And I completely agree with all the comments praising Luke Newton’s remarkable performance (his command of his subtle but richly communicative facial expressions is remarkable!) and Nicola Coughlin’s outstanding work also, of course. These are two performers at the peak of their powers. The criticisms of this season made me sad in that these two actors deserve unadulterated praise for their work, IMO, and the noise generated by other viewer complaints (too little Polin, too many new storylines, etc.) seemed to detract from that. I hope Mr. Newton and Ms. Coughlin continue to take deserved pride in their performances this season-they were marvelous.
What a great description of the so beloved scene, thank you. The scene is true masterpiece, there is so much going on and thanks to the script, direction etc. and especially Nicola and Luke, it is quite easy to follow and enjoy every bit of it ❤
She is a great actress indeed and I read everywhere people praising her great acting, otherwise I can't understand how some people can say he can't act. He is such a great actor ( I didn't notice him in previous seasons, I admit I was charmed by J. Bailey's talent) but he really did an enormous job in this season, he can act with his face, with his body, his eyes and his voice. I love how he uses his voice. And yet still I read bad comments about him being stiff ( really?), not a good actor...I even read insult about his face, claiming that his mouth is weird, that he has jobs done. I think a lot of people love to complain about the actors and the series just cause they want to spread hate and to be mean. Their scenes were all amazing, ofc we wanted more ( still hope in next season) Anyways I love this analysis and all your videos about Polin. THX!
Sadly Nicola and Luke have always received so much hate the same with their characters since season 1, but the hate increased when bridgerton announced that the third season it was for Colin and Penelope, i have been in the fandom since s1 and the things i have read about their physical appearance its insane, they made fun of luke dyslexia and his ADHD, saying Nicola slept with the showrunner, they were so active on social media and always interacted with their fans, but after all the hate they deleted twi.tter and went more private about their lifes, Nicola even made a story telling fans to stop harrasing her, it was so sad to witness as a fan, Nicola and luke didn't even wanted to read the comments of the s3 trailer because they were so afraid of the people reactions, tjats why luke always seems so ansious on interviews and premiers, after s3 thanks god the hate for Nicola decreased but sadly for Luke increased, they are attacking his physical appearance, personal life, his acting, so now i am still defending him after 4 years 😂😂 I am here for the long run
Aww, your analysis of what her loving touch means to him is so spot on. Her touch to his face is so loving, I think his heart will explode. ❤ I love that he literally buries himself in her neck and bosom. He loves her so much, that he wants all of her at once. Theeeeeeen the carriage stops. Damn!
Part 3: just complimenting you Sammy. You did it again. I am amazed on how much you catch and analyze, even when relating to the previous seasons. Man, have you considered writing books because you made me feel everything in this video. Thank you for loving Polin and their scenes as much as we do.
This was a great breakdown. You mentioned what I felt when watching this scene, the authenticity. Nicola and Luke in all of their intimacy scenes, but this one in particular, made me feel like I was a voyeur watching a real couple not two actors doing choreography. Almost all other intimacy scenes in any show or movie you can tell that it's just another choreographed stunt but it didn't feel that way with the carriage scene. From the dialogue to the facial expressions to the sounds, it was all phenomenal work.
I agree with you that a big part of why we all love this scene is because they are both equally involved on a physical, emotional, and psychological level in everything that happened. He is not doing things to her, but with her and for her, to share with her what he has learned about what is physically possible and finally feel the emotional payoff because now it's with her. He couldn't really get much satisfaction out of any of it before because he didn't know or care about the other women the way he loves Penelope. Any of the other sexual activity he had was rather a dutiful performance of the actions expected of him as a Bridgerton man and a young man about town. He basically admitted this in the carriage. This, with her, is on a whole different level. So, he takes what he learned of sex mechanically and shares it with his bestie and adding that element of emotional intimacy to the act suddenly unlocks a whole world of experience and sensation for both of them together that was simply inconceivable for either of them separately. Penelope doesn't just lie back and let him have his way. She gets right in there to reach for what she has always desperately wanted and needed from him. Not just his body, not just his lust, not just his attention, but him totally invested and devoted to her and letting her show him she has always been totally invested in and devoted to him. The most important point of the whole scene is that it is about both of them revealing honestly to each other how deeply they are involved in this relationship - not just with words, but with looks, and touches, and the fact that they both completely wrapped themselves up in the other to the exclusion of everything else. It was an act of supreme trust and the freedom that comes from absolute faith in your partner, to allow such liberties, to ignore things like time or place or possible witnesses or reputation, to give themselves over completely to each other and know for sure that they were safe to do so. Penelope knew, even if she didn't understand what he might do with his hand on her calf, that he would never hurt her and that anything he wanted to do to her was something she would love to do. Dang! That's hot 🔥🥵! Colin knew, that even if he had been slow to figure out that the love he had for his bestie was not a friendly ordinary sort of emotion, that didn't mean he couldn't trust her to join him in this great experiment and explore how much better sex feels when you add emotions to the equation. That's why the emotional orgasm facial expression from making out with Penelope is so revealing. He was more satisfied by that kiss and touch from her (relatively tame) than all the various risque sex acts he had ever had before, put together. Because it was her, his Pen, and that changed everything for him. She had to trust him physically and he had to trust her emotionally in a way that was new to both of them. They met in the middle, Colin and Penelope, to add physical intimacy to emotional honesty and create the hottest, sexiest, most satisfying spicy scene any two dressed individuals have ever done. Because it wasn't just about sex, or lust, or him "doing" her or her "letting" him. It was about them both sharing their feelings for each other in all the ways they knew how. Without this scene being as powerful and illuminating for each of them and the audience about the truth of their deep love for each other, Colin proposing and them skipping courtship to get right to the altar would make no sense. (This is part of where some criticism stems from, I believe. That some in the audience really didn't get the richness and catch all the points made in this scene at all.) This scene totally reframes their whole previous understanding of their relationship to the point where, once we take a breath to reflect on it, we realize that the last 3 seasons have really just been a quirky, friends to lover's courtship anyway. So, when they take those clothes off in episode 5...yeah. 🎉 As far as Colin is concerned, the carriage scene was Penelope saying yes to his proposal, before the words were ever said. His only concern about marrying her was that maybe she didn't reciprocate his love, which was disproven handily (😮😂) by her behavior in that carriage interlude. That's why, when he gets out and reaches for her, he seems to have already kind of assumed that the deal was done. So of course he's a little exasperated when he has to, essentially, repeat himself by saying "are you going to marry me or not?" The whole scene was his proposal and her acceptance, long before the words were officially said. In the same way that they were romantically involved long before either of them realized that they were or said any such thing. Penelope couldn't have physically responded to him the way she did if she wasn't all in and he knew that about her. Colin couldn't have said the things he did to Penelope, been so emotionally honest with her and took his social mask off like that, if he didn't love her. Penelope knew this about him, too. The only part she needed to clarify at the end was whether he knew that about himself yet. That's why she waits for him to say it out loud, but doesn't really need to use her words to answer him. Him asking her out loud is him telling Penelope that he's finally figured out what she has been heartbreakingly desperate to tell him for years. "Colin, dear, you don't love me as a friend. You're in love with me! And I am in love with you, too! So let's stop the ridiculous courtship dance and just get married already. We've waited long enough!" Anyone who wants to see a more modern take on this dynamic should watch "Some Kind of Wonderful" from John Hughes, iykyk. Penelope is so totally Watts, someone really needs to compare the two relationships for the stupid lazy viewers in the back who couldn't follow the narrative here and still insist Colin doesn't really love Penelope or vice versa. I think it would be educational.
So agree. . The whole dynamic changes.Colin now sees her in such a new light. He has been following her this season instead of pen following him! We have seen him falling for her which I find so touching I love it
I’m OBSESSED with the carriage scene. I love the mirror scene, as well…but there was SO MUCH to discover in the scene. Each moment was so layered and beautiful. It’s absolutely perfect.
I love polin and lukola too❤.But even if our delulu ship is uncertain at the moment .One thing that I really really want is for both of them to receive an award for their acting in s3 because they both delivered such layered ,intricate, deep, multiple emotions even just with their expressions in some instants where there were no dialogues ❤❤
I fully believe it’s so intimate because of the care and trust they have for each other in real life. The repressed chemistry mixed with probably the nervousness and maybe even excitement of doing this with a great friend and exploring things that have never been explored makes this scene so real seeming. Idk it just actually looks they were both enjoying it 😩 it’s just a masterpiece. In interviews they even said “it felt really good, it felt like it looked really good” yeah we can tell 😭😭😭😭
This isn't directed at you. Just thoughts. I love polin but hate lukola and its unhinged shipper brigade. Luke and Nic both are very good actors, and their sincere friendship helped the onscreen chemistry. But I wish fans would stop forcing their delusions on real people and their personal lives. Why not just celebrate the best love story, and the masterpieces that S3 and carriage scene are.
@@alisachocersok3692 i understand your thoughts and although i like lukola too ,i don't support the hate on their personal lives. I don't like to be a part of the hate towards the actors or their friends either.I don't usually comment on videos but on polin videos or if i like anything i only comment then as i believe if u don't like something online especially u can just skip it ,there is no reason to spread hate . I completely agree with u on celebrating colin and Penelope, polin and their season and their incredible acting .For Lukola i don't forcefully like to ship them, it is more of like a hope or a silent wish, like if one day it happens i would be really happy for them😊.But in any scenario I want their bond to always be as it is 🧿and they always be a part of each other's life, and always be happy ♥️♥️♥️♥️
This is such a brilliant and insightful analysis of the scene and is so beautifully observed. Because of Cressida mentioning Eros and Psyche I have just finished reading a book about them and the parallels are there especially with Colin's speech about finding her in his dreams. The actors did so well. It does feel so much as we are intruding on such an intimate scene. With the other leads in previous series there was a lot of sex but it didn't feel particularly intimate. This season we got pure, heart stopping romance and intimacy that was so right for their characters and I think because the actors had such a chemistry and friendship from the start it really did help make their performances so much more true to life.
I know you’re dealing with SO much so I’m thankful for every upload you do. I hope you know we love you and your content. If you broke down every single scene from season 3, we’d watch it in a heartbeat. You articulate it so well. I’ve never been more obsessed 🤩
Not sure how I’m still alive… I was holding my breath for majority of this breakdown. 🫣😏😂 Such an amazingly intimate scene, I’ve never seen another show pay so much attention to EVERY SINGLE detail.
What a great, thoughtful, insightful & thorough dive into this iconic scene. I keep saying that Luke Newton’s ability to convey so much with his eyes & facial expressions puts him in a special category of actor. I looks forward to his next projects, which I hope will do his talents justice.
That total explanation of the carriage scene was absolutely wonderful! Now I will watch Season 3 for the 10th time and actually watch all these gestures and facial expressions. It will mean so much more!! Thank you for this!
Energy doesn't lie, those two will definitely end up together!🥰 Not afraid to admit I've literally prayed that they do!😂 if everyone in the world had a connection such as theirs, there would actually be world peace lol
Very good description of this scene! Spot on in my opinion. I’ve seen ALOT of sexual scenes over the years and in my opinion this is one of the very best I’ve ever seen. Luke and Nicola did a phenomenal job!
Sammy, this is a beautiful and thoughtful analysis of one of the best scene of the season. I agree on every single point you made. This is what intimacy feels like and I’m just so happy this scene exist. Thank you for such in depth insights ❤
This is one of the most intimate as far as intimacy scenes can go. Dear lord. How we lost our minds at the realism of it 🎉 your analysis here very aptly identifies and corresponds each expression with each intent. Good one
Great analysis! This scene is so important for their relationship. I agree with everything you said. There are so many emotions conveyed, and the music goes along with it perfectly. They did such a great job that it feels like you're intruding on a private moment and shouldn't be there.
It was the best type of cliffhanger at the end of the first half, making all of us pant for more episdes, for weeks, taking us right along with the characters. Your assessment was so spot-on. Their acting was so darned incredible, many have commented that they felt as though they were intruding on real life by watching these scenes. What bigger compliment can anyone receive for their acting?? Thank you for the time you put into this. It makes even me feel more understood.
His facial expressions were chef kiss. And you said it perfectly they trust each other Luke and Nicola and they know their characters Colin and Penelope ❤
Ahhh this breakdown and analysis was absolutely fabulous and amazing and everything! And I love all the little details you found and focused on! I mean there is so much to love about the carriage scene, it's all absolutely phenomenal and sweet and sexy and precious. But some of my favorite moments from this scene are the subtler or low key moments. Them dissolving into giggles after what they did in the carriage, because like you said it really hits home the foundation of their whole relationship: their friendship. Like it's not just a matter of two people who are attracted to each other getting up to salacious acts in a carriage. It's two really good friends realizing/giving into their feelings for each other and having a very intimate moment and crossing that line. Them giggling after is like "Oh my god I can't believe I just did that with my best friend" vibes in the most joyous way possible, it's so freaking sweet. I also noticed the way Colin looks as he delivers his "For God's sake Penelope Featherington, are you going to marry me or not?" He looks so young and youthful and baby and so so sweet
Sammy Bates... You are a superb narrator!!! I have watched this scene numerous times because it is so beautiful, but with you narrating it, I can finally understand why it is so perfect! Thank you!!!!
The perfect analysis for such a singular scene. Thanks for another binge-worthy “dissertation” of my favorite couple and season. ❤ Now waiting patiently (and impatiently 😂) for the updated Polin relationship analysis…
This was half an episode of Bridgerton and undoubtedly the best 35 minutes I spent in the last mont. Hero of the day. I wish I could say something more profound but I am flabbergasted at your analysis picking on every tiny little detail I have been obsessing about thinking your exact same things and I need a moment to process this wonderful piece of tv-dissection you delivered. This scene was special, their delivery was unique, the whole writing of this moment is just marvelous but I adore when people like you put just so much thought into it, voicing everybody’s feelings. I am going to share you in every social media known to man I have an account on. Thanks for this. I am going to subscribe to your channel like now.
@@piracychic i think they will both have a great carreer. They have become cosmic stars already.
Exactly. It was so refreshing to see a man who isn't afraid to show his character's raw emotional feelings.
yes -- he's not trying to be cool, not "acting sexy." He's portraying human authenticity and love
Are real men ever like this? Are we all so in awe of this scene because it doesn't exist in real life?
@@spritemariethey exist!
Just, magnificent 💕
def agree on that...
IT WAS THI SCENE AND THE SCENE IN THE ALLEY FOR ME!!
I agree
Luke's eyes are insane in this season.. like I feel EVERYTHING! His eyes are literally doing everything. I've never seen someone act with their eyes as beautifully as he does, it's actually INSANE.
He’s just too perfect for the role!!!
Absolutely 100% agree. I watch that carriage scene over and over and I only watch Colin’s EYES….The whole time! It is mesmerizing
Omg RIGHT?!?!?! His eyes are LITERALLY everything, in EVERY scene with Pen! Whether he’s longing for her or romancing her, you can just feel it pierce your entire soul!!! 🥹🥹😭
Do not forget his mouth and how he playes with his tongue and lips… I melt e-ve-ry single time 🤤🤤🤤🤤 best love scene in history 🏆
Right!! Now we just need a mirror scene analysis!!!
I wish we had more happy scenes after they reconciled but that's not the format of bridgerton, they always do it this way, we have to wait until s4, the books and show have been so different since s1, after all its an adaptation and we should see it that way
@@ru3144period
I’m glad you said it. Daphne and Simon fought all the way after she discovered he was lying until the last 5 mins
I’m not gonna talking about kanthony because that was literally all angst, barely any happy scene in the whole season
Compared to these two seasons, we got a lot
We’ll get more happy scenes next season. It’s only 8 episodes per season unfortunately and it’s an ensemble show with lots of story lines and characters
This is the best intimate scene in tv history
@@towandanuwanda Absolutely!!
Just totally love it all but Colin & Penelope are just the best❤❤❤❤❤
the erotic scenes we see with Polin feel so much more intimate instead of just downright sexual and that makes sense to me. they are so intimate and unique because at the end of the day they are 2 childhood friends who are coming to know each other in new ways, the friends to lovers arc definitely lends itself to sweeter/softer scenes and that's what made this season my absolute favorite :)
Lol! 😆
So well said! Their relationship in real life supported the beauty and realness we feel with this scene and their relationship. This can't be understated. Thanks for sharing!
I loved your Ted talk 😂
@ru3144 aw thank you! ☺️
Yes! Agree with every word!
To have a male character in tv to be so in tune with his love interest, the attention he's paying to her, the investment he has in her pleasure for him to have pleasure in return is just so so refreshing. I'm not saying it doesn't exist in other series/film, but being on display to such an extent, I doubt it.
There are so many reasons that made me love this scene and I'm not gonna repeat what you said, because you said it all with such elegance and attention to detail. I'm so grateful you exist in the fandom Sammy among all the people that keep posting videos to diss season 3, the writing and/or acting 🙏
Colin and Pen's love story makes me so emotional: the perfect acting from the two leads who completely understood their characters, the way the characters bond, the way they value each other, how Colin is attentive to Pen's needs and pleasure...
Haha
Sorry for the massive block of text, Bridgerton makes me very talkative, something I'm not much the rest of the time. I'm very passionate about this show, which is why.
I don't have anyone around me that I could talk to that enjoys this show. So I take an opportunity when I see one!
@@Almarilysyou write so beautifully well and everything you said was on point ❤
@aprilnyssa aww thank you so much! 🤗 English not being my native language what you say means a lot to me ☺️
@@Almarilys I love what you wrote.
Yes.
Even his voice sounds a little bit more like in s1, luke its a really good actor and he understands Colin so much
Exactly, had the same thought!
I loved that part, where he puts his hand out for her and EVERY time he puts his had out for her
This is brilliant and also it cannot be over expressed how brilliant these actors are.
what was obvious to pen when colin asked her to come along was she thought she’s being invited to continue what they were doing in the carriage in his room, hence her worriedly asking “but your family will see me.”, because otherwise she’s so down for it😭🤣
wow! i never thought of that...
Even Nicola has said that Pen was down for a friends with benefits situation. 😏
@@Harrietmjones well, looking on that context... she is indeed a rule breaker...
Exactly this! She had not caught up yet to the fact that Colin was all in. No part of her thought the proposal was immediately imminent. She was just ready to hold on to whatever he was offering for as long as she could. Same in the book which is why she fell flat on her face when he asked. 😅
Lmaooo, yupppppp 🤣💀
Luke Newton understood Colin nature so well. He was beyond excellent with his acting skills, I’m obsessed!

The details in this scene is truly insane. Nicola and Luke should win all the awards….
Agreed. It's a crime they have not been nominated for an Emmy for the first half of the season. I have never felt so invested and captivated by an onscreen couple. I hope they clean up when the People's Choice awards come around.
They deserve an Emmy.
The face he makes always thought it’s emotional version of orgasm.
he almost died 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yes. All I could think was she is blowing his mind. 😅
That last kiss is an "I love you " kiss.
Aww I love that.
Fr
Carriage scene 🎬 you are forever immotalized in history as iconic, authentic, erotic, artistic, reverent, and pure romance fantasy genius. Bravo! 👏 👏 👏
Everyone is always praising Nicola, and while it's very well-deserved, Luke doesn't get nearly enough credit for how incredible he is as an actor, especially in season 3.
Definitely!!! I think he's way better than he gets credit for.
Yowza.
I noticed the nodding yes to himself. It was in that moment that he decided to propose to her
i simply loved the fact that Colin indecisiveness ends at this point --- finally understanding his feelings towards Pen...
This is the only season that has been described as intimate.. which shows how deep their love and care for each other goes
That’s why in every make out or love scene they had, it was too romantic and intimate and even some people felt like they were watching two lovers who had never been touched before finally touch themselves…. (Even though Colin had been with women prior to pens)
I feel like we need Netflix to share data on how many minutes the carriage scene got played😂
💯 And still getting played
100% 😂
lol! 😆

Hahahaha
This is a brilliant analysis of brilliant acting and a deep emotional bond which goes beyond just being actors, co-workers and friends. It's a mixture of their characters and them, both being surprised about what is happening to them emotionally and physically. As if they're taken by surprise, not yet fully understanding what this is all about. This is where the intimacy comes from. And we all are so privileged to be witnesses of this pure moment of two souls, mating deeply. 💖

One of the best scenes in all of television 😩😩😩
Literally a masterpiece 🙌🏻🙌🏻
It's really special
A masterpiece!!! such a beautiful intimate scene ❤
10/10 scene and just one of MANY reasons why i think s3 is the best season of the Bton series, and you’ve done nothing but just solidify my opinion and i thank you ❤❤
Beautiful comment! ❤ I feel the same as you. I concur with everything you said 💯
Agree with everything you said! S3 is so much more interesting
Agreed 🙋🏽♀️
Also, I'm on my 3rd rewatch of this analysis! It's so good. SAVED to my Polin playlist.
@@clarissathompson thank you, love this. All so spot on to my thoughts.❤️
Yes, you are not alone in this. Literally in the same boat. My husband thought I would have moved on by now, but I can’t. 😅
These comments here are so spot on. And I'm sure that a lot of husbands in the world (my own one included) are equally fed up with "that romance show" and thankful for all the giggles that come with it (specially with S3) 😂😂😂
@@clarissathompson💯
"task at hand" lmao okay 😂😂
😂 I fully cackled at that
I was searching for this comment lol... when a heard "task at hand" my mind completed with "pun intended" lol
Luke’s micro expressions and those nuances really got me rewatching this scene numerous times 👏🏼 and Nic/Luke to the core do understand Pen/Colin so much that everything, anything made sense when both realized their feelings for each other! ❤
Part 2: the emotional intimacy
This is why it warms my heart as not only a friends to lovers girly, but a demi romantic.
👏👏👏 (iykyk)
Also love that Pen at the end of the scene 100% believes she just invented friends with benefits and is totally gonna go for it. Oh, my sweet summer child.
I literally heard Nicola’s voice when you mentioned the acting skills… lol!

Have to agree - 1000/10 for this incredible analysis!!!!!!!!!!!!! God!!!!!!
This scene is so beautifully done and the chemistry between Luke and Nicola is also so beautiful. They are very believable in their roles.
At this point, I'm speechless😢, they acted the heck out of this scene!! They are really great at their job wow😮😮😮
7am? Carriage deconstruction scene? Never too early!
So well done!
“Looks like he ascended to another planet” IM DEAD. I loved this video so damn much thank you thank you thank you
I have to say, you are an amazing storyteller. The level of enjoyment I got from the scene was elevated by 1000%, as if it was possible, thanks to your video.
IN SAMMY WE TRUST
Oh my god I can only aspire to analyse a scene in the way you did. Really, really awesome job. Thank you so much for this
BABE WAKE UP NEW SAMMY VIDEO JUST DROPPED
The week can officially START 😂🩵
The scene is true masterpiece, there is so much going on and thanks to the script, direction etc. and especially Nicola and Luke, it is quite easy to follow and enjoy every bit of it ❤
I have enormous respect for these two actors! They nailed the scene!! Your specific commentating was spot on and excellent in your perceptions!!
The people "complaining" about a professional actor's acting usually have no clue about acting.
Damn!
Sammy when she watched the carriage scene: oh my god 😮
Sammy now: 15 pages of a script 😅😅😅great job...this is such a great analysis
First half, best half ❤
That said: Do this for the Mirror scene.
I loved this analysis so much. But truly it felt illegal to watch this scene so slowly. I was really blushing 😳
My favorite scene of my favorite season! This scene is so beautiful in every way and so well acted by both of them
Part 3: just complimenting you Sammy.
Yes, everything you said…and OMG agree totally about Some Kind of Wonderful and Watts - love that film - ‘You look good wearing my future’ ❤️
Sammy you do the best media analysis I've seen. Also, love how much you appreciate BOTH Luke and Nicola's performances. So nuanced.
Honestly i think the acting is so well done. You feel the heat and luke face says so much. Xx
So agree. . The whole dynamic changes.Colin now sees her in such a new light. He has been following her this season instead of pen following him! We have seen him falling for her which I find so touching
I love it
I’m OBSESSED with the carriage scene. I love the mirror scene, as well…but there was SO MUCH to discover in the scene. Each moment was so layered and beautiful. It’s absolutely perfect.
Top 5 scenes in Bridgerton hands down, your analysis on Polin are always on point 😭💖
I love polin and lukola too❤.But even if our delulu ship is uncertain at the moment .One thing that I really really want is for both of them to receive an award for their acting in s3 because they both delivered such layered ,intricate, deep, multiple emotions even just with their expressions in some instants where there were no dialogues ❤❤
indeed, they are worthy of accolade...
@@PiperCorra so true ♥️♥️
Standing ovation for you Miss Sammy Bates 👏👏👏 This is doctorate level. Chef’s kisses 🧑🍳💋
This is the most thoughtful analysis of why the carriage scene is SO fantastic. I enjoyed your perspective immensely ‼️ Thank you‼️
Not sure how I’m still alive… I was holding my breath for majority of this breakdown. 🫣😏😂 Such an amazingly intimate scene, I’ve never seen another show pay so much attention to EVERY SINGLE detail.
The kiss at the end of this scene (complete with little nose touch) is SO SWEET. I can't get over how lovely it is.
Your breakdown is impeccable, absolutely impeccable!!! There is nothing to add and no one could do it better. Simple excellence. Thank you.
I have no words. There is nothing that I can add. Spot on. ❤
This is such a good analysis on one of the best scenes in the show!!
This is pure gold, the scene, the performances, the analysis.
Brilliant analysis! I am amazed how you took 30 minutes to explain a 5 minute scene. This was truly a master class in film appreciation. Thanks.
Thank you for your beautiful analysis. You’ve articulated why I’ve found this scene so compelling. Well done!
I also noticed the way Colin looks as he delivers his "For God's sake Penelope Featherington, are you going to marry me or not?"
He looks so young and youthful and baby and so so sweet
Sammy Bates... You are a superb narrator!!! I have watched this scene numerous times because it is so beautiful, but with you narrating it, I can finally understand why it is so perfect! Thank you!!!!
This is making me scream giggle and kick my feet oved this scene all over again
In the words of Miss Stowell…”SHE HAS RETURNED!!”…❤
Sammy, I bow down to you! Thank you for analysing my most favourite Polin scene so perfectly. I’m going to share the hell out of this 🙌🙌🙌👏👏👏
The perfect analysis for such a singular scene. Thanks for another binge-worthy “dissertation” of my favorite couple and season. ❤ Now waiting patiently (and impatiently 😂) for the updated Polin relationship analysis…
These videos make watching Bridgeton so much better. Nice analysis on this scene! ❤❤
I love that Colin is so deep into her pleasure that he literally looks lost and so confused when they are snapped back into reality.
Girlllllll if that wasn't the best explanation of this scene I've ever heard, I don't know what could ever top it, thank you, such attention to detail
Thank you for allowing me to relive the carriage scene once again and understand it on an EVEN DEEPER LEVEL ❤ after already watching it like 1000x
