I think it's great that she wanted to be authentic in her choreography. Not only that, that she knew exactly where to go. Goth dancing has pretty much stayed true to its core since the 80s but once the 90s hit and more goth bands came out, there were bands that introduced more romantic and ethereal qualities which also affected the dancing. Back in the 80s it was more, I guess true to its punk roots and less fluid like it is now. We still got those hardcore 80s goth dancers tho!

Best Goth time was the 90's Still had the 80's classics and the bands of the 90's that were phenome. SF. Thanks for the memories. Best dance moves still. Erotic taffy and root were my moves.
As much as I like the newer styles I miss this kind more. It just feels more gothic than the other subgenres. Anyhoo lovely woman with lovely dance moves. Keep it up.
I performed 90 % of those moves back in the late 80ties early 90ties. And I am from a small city in northern Germany. It almost makes me believe in morphogenetic fields. We had a nother very popular dance move where you pretended to bow and reach out with one arm, like in a Renaissance painting from a dutch artist, constantly. The small cellar club we went to was our second living room. The ceiling had a lot of pipes that collected the condensed sweat of us and dripped from time to time. Teen old me drank hot amaretto with cream , yuk, when I needed a boost. I was never a full on goth, but on two occasions I went the babypowder route with heavy eyeliner but i decided it wasn't flattering to my complexion. And then acid house hit the club and many more. We were devastated.
Lmao "I'm to old for this shit" I know the feeling.my wife and I can't last long to dance to these songs like we used to without catching our breath.please keep up this channel we love it
@@SoloKrauT I mean, seriously, I prefer this three step forward, three steps back dance with letting the head roll with the movement, depending on the song with more or less arm work. And if I´m funny I like to turn, and only dance backward, but that seems to be only me. The two handed two step stuff just came out of desperation for me, when there is no room for more fancy stuff. But have seen all the other stuff as well. I wonder why the three step wasn´t shown in the video, is it a German thing? It is a very common dance move in Germany since the 80s. Not that I was there in the 80s, but I have seen videos of it, and people still dance like it.
"The performer" was most definitely a thing at the so-called gothic parties in my city in Russia in 2005. The other moves weren't exact but similar to what you showed, particularly Erotic.
Oh Im in love with your channel. Theres so many videos on "how to do this and this and that the gothic way" but its almost every time non-serious or with a tad too much hint of humor in it. I was dark and gloomy in the late 1990s and beginning of 2000. I-DANCED-LIKE-THIS. No fun about it. Compleatly non-ridicule. And you turn this shit up like a goth godess. I hope all the newly "embraced" goths look at you as a rolemodel and inspiration. I also saw your post about the scene cravling back into ttheir caves, not doing clubs anymore. Its true. its online or festivals or in the closet. For me, im gonna pick up my black lipstick and lace again and go full-on every day goth again. Not letting my job, expectation or the norm holding me back. Thank you. You brighten up (or darken:P ) my life!
Other steps that were not included: Berry Picker, Fence Painter, Zombie Pogo, Crap Shooter, Whip Master, The Junkie (aka Swaying Corpse), Coin Grabber (a variation of Berry Picker), Dead Bob (a variation of Swaying Corpse), Crypt Kicker, The Illusionist, and The Sadist Shuffle (which is basically a two-handed Whip Master). The names imply the steps, obviously. Love the video! Especially the last one. Comic genius.

Love the music you used for this video. Some great spooky tunes for us spooky folks to enjoy. Lovely dance moves. I'm guilty of a few myself including " picking apples from trees" and the "willow in the wind". I just feel out the music when I go to a Goth night. Fun times for sure. 🦇💀🕸️

I was trying to describe goth dancing to my husband since the Wednesday dance and this nailed my mid to late 90s NYC goth club scene experience exactly! (Also I must know you from back then as we all knew one another, let's be honest 🖤)
Having a good foundation in Bellydance, I think I'd be close to the "erotic" dance you demonstrated. Again, never been to a goth club before, but that just seems like something I would do in a goth club, if ever I go to one (hoping to go to one in Seattle this December with a couple I made friends with in New Orleans). Very entertaining and amusing!

I didn't knew that the no handed 2 step was an actual named move. It's the one thing that came natural to me and that's the only one I did accept for the utmost generic 80 finger snap, elbow moving front to back 'move', lol. Jeez those were fun days :D
I was more into punk and metal, but when I was in university during the early 2000s I used to frequent the local goth club (good music, cheap booze, I could always catch a lift home) and I would crush so hard on the goth girls. This video totally reminded me of that, so thanks. :)

Oh the NOSTALGIA!!! Ive noticed tht the 90s rivethead "stomp& repeat"has given way 2 something tht resembles a solo pattycake( still funny just not as intensely so)👿
The Bank was a fave of mine too!!!
Never got the chance to go to the Bank or Limelight, but I loved the Batcave!
They were the best. I remember bouncing around from room to room in The Bank and Batcave afraid I'd miss a good song. You could get lost in Limelight!
Ok me too
i might be the only goth who cannot dance, i appreciate you so much for this. about to get down to some london after midnight 😩
The basic two-step is the best place to land.
My favorite dance even in 2024 is the "two handed two step" and skipping with props
Oh the memories I have rocked those dance move my self! You have beautiful movements btw I done think younger goths will ever really know that feeling of dancing with all the vampires of the night!
People used to dance exactly like this in the gothic clubs here in São Paulo, Brazil.
I was in the scene in the 2000s and this made me so happy. THANK YOU FOR THIS.
You're very welcome, I'm so happy you enjoyed it!
Thank you, you took me back to Helter Skelter in L.A. circa 1994
I was just stoked to hear Switchblade Symphony.. I miss that group, one of my all time fave bands. Serpetine Gallery is just art.
Anyone here after Wednesday released
me bc of netflix ! and reading comments on goth dancing haha
I've been getting a lot of traffic from people who watched the show wondering if my dancing video inspired her. I need to see the show.
Mee

Meeee
i’ve always been into industrial dance and i feel so out of place when the 80s goth comes on in the club. i can love that song but don’t know how to move to it. i love this video
I was never a full on goth, but on two occasions I went the babypowder route with heavy eyeliner but i
decided it wasn't flattering to my complexion. And then acid house hit the club and many more. We were devastated.
i love your outfit so much!
i'm gothic in my heart forever!
Omg, this made my heart go black! 🖤
The nostalgia!!! 🤩
The skipping was great
Excellent video
Lmao "I'm to old for this shit" I know the feeling.my wife and I can't last long to dance to these songs like we used to without catching our breath.please keep up this channel we love it
how you’re just dancing in a regular room and it’s so stunning.
Great music and dance moves on point - love your video! Btw: We're still dancing like that in Germany! :D
Because Europe has a better club scene than North America
Agree, still dancing the two handed two step stuff... if I don´t have room for the three step...
I still dance like that. ...for the most part. 😉
@MrFusselig - XD
Lycia in da hizzay. haha :) Thanks for the inclusion.
Wow, This is a serious honor! You rock my socks so hard so, thank YOU!
Angela Benedict keeping it real. ha wtf is up w me and stupid catchphrases today. im socially awkward and don't know how to take compliments. :)
Angela Benedict hahahaha excellent!
@@TaraVanflower She's star struck
"The performer" was most definitely a thing at the so-called gothic parties in my city in Russia in 2005. The other moves weren't exact but similar to what you showed, particularly Erotic.
Girl, you are magical. You reminded me of me in the noughties. I miss those times😁
Oh thank you!
2 Handed 2 Step is probably how I have spent most of my dancing in life, ended with I'm So Goth I'm Dead. I massively enjoyed this video:)
This is the tried and true!
Love the alliteration here.
Oh my god, so accurate! I'm guilty of damn near every single one.
Perfect! It's good to get a good mix going.
Lol, I mostly remember "kicking puppies", "lost my contact", and of course "the lead boot stomp". Thanks for the nostalgia. :)
We referred to "lost my contact" as the "menstrual cramp dance," lol.
Other steps that were not included:
Berry Picker, Fence Painter, Zombie Pogo, Crap Shooter, Whip Master, The Junkie (aka Swaying Corpse), Coin Grabber (a variation of Berry Picker), Dead Bob (a variation of Swaying Corpse), Crypt Kicker, The Illusionist, and The Sadist Shuffle (which is basically a two-handed Whip Master).
The names imply the steps, obviously.
Love the video! Especially the last one. Comic genius.
a colleague and I had a little giggle with this cause we remembered some of these style from our day.he was 90s goth and me mid 00.the scene was dead before 2010. no clubs, no places to go anymore.the emo's took over. sooo miss those days. thanx for the vid
Love the music you used for this video. Some great spooky tunes for us spooky folks to enjoy. Lovely dance moves. I'm guilty of a few myself including " picking apples from trees" and the "willow in the wind". I just feel out the music when I go to a Goth night. Fun times for sure. 🦇💀🕸️
Love corpus delicti, i never hear people speak about them
They will soon, they've been touring again like crazy! I hope they come to NY.
Switchblade Symphony! I wish you danced to Clown, as well. XD
Thank you so much, this helps me make my bedroom my own nightclub!
Love the dances. At my age, 66, that last one is about my speed. I remember seeing most of the dances back when I went to the clubs in the 90's.
I love watching these tutorials but i also feel goth dancing is dancing the way that you want and feel like without the fear of being weird , is freely expressing with your body How music makes you feel like
And you are gorgeous, a real life Morticia 🖤
I deadass searched up goth dances after watching Wednesday lmao 🤣
A lot of people seem to have the same idea. I think it's awesome!
@PHXNK KILLER Totally a possibility. She said she did a lot of research into goth dancing. I'd be super honored if she took inspiration from this video.
I was watching some Industrial Dance offs yesterday. That's a hoot.
Me too!
I still see many of these dances at the goth club I got to :)
this video is adorable btw
Thank you! It's been a while since I've been out, the music is all too electronic for my taste. Barely any Goth at all :/
The place I go isn't too bad most nights. Just have to find the proper place to go. :)
Still looking
this is the best thing Ive seen in a long time! so cool
Oh shiiiiit. When you started playing London after Midnight, I was screaming!
I'm not goth or anything but I never knew Goths were this cute 😂💕 seriously this was a cute video
@@smetupp05 I’m wondering the same thing you’re wondering 🤔 i don’t remember writing this 😭
@@f.j.9391 HAHA that’s hilarious
The no handed two stepper, albeit with steps that where more laterally oriented was called "searching for my keys" where I'm from!
She looks like Morticia Adams at the prom. This how Gomez met her on the dance floor😵
She moves with grace inhuman, with sultryness beyond measure,to those who see her she's a wonder, but to those who know her she's a treasure.Corvine Crusader Approved content.
As one who grew up dancing in LA goth clubs in the 90s I appreciate your candor, i laughed and reminisced, thank you for that!
Oh wow, have fun in Seattle! I hope you get to showcase some of those bellydancing moves.
Haha, I've definitely done the "Taffy Puller" and "Performer". Plus a lot of hair stuff. Just hair all over the place.
Man!!! This brings back memories but in L.A dance scene back in the late 90s and early 2000's. I use be more of an industrial dancer and Dark Wave. I miss those days. 🖤 Shot out to my favorite dance song that was Dead Stars by Covenant.
OMG... perfection... Yes, you have got it down... all the dance moves I did back in the day!
I didn't knew that the no handed 2 step was an actual named move. It's the one thing that came natural to me and that's the only one I did accept for the utmost generic 80 finger snap, elbow moving front to back 'move', lol.
Jeez those were fun days :D
omfg you put lycia I freaken love you 😍😍😍😍
2:56? From The Burning Circle and Then Dust?
holy crap, you're the prettiest goth girl I've ever seen
Loved being a teen in the 90s
I was more into punk and metal, but when I was in university during the early 2000s I used to frequent the local goth club (good music, cheap booze, I could always catch a lift home) and I would crush so hard on the goth girls. This video totally reminded me of that, so thanks. :)
How old are you? You seem too young to me, to have been in the club in the 90's O_o
she's probably a vampire :P
I'm 37 :)
That's basically 75 in the gothic subculture, but I know she's been dead longer XP
you are so beautiful..
Angela Benedict Me too! And yes....no sun is also my secret. and lots of water.
lol you dance like british goths in the 80s
If only there were time machines
I've been to a few 'goth' nights in the UK :) I wish they were more 'goth' oriented as they were predominantly electronic but I'm sure there are a few I missed. Next time!
there is some but i bet u only went london when most of the good stuff happens up north
zods muffin Sheffield, Nottingham and Norwich, actually :)
actually nottingham and norwich are both down south sheffield is in the north :)
i see the taffy puller a lot at the goth night club i go to
I guess it's the go to move. It looks good at any speed.
Speaking of 90s Goth. Have you heard the new SONSOMBRE album? It is truly amazing. They have kept the true 90s sound alive.
music are awsome! thanks for sharing !
Thanks for listening
