- In addition to the gorgeous new Aozakura Skin, our next update also includes a Light Rework for Nova!
Not quite as intensive as Caliban's recent overhaul, her changes nevertheless bring her closer in line with our current Warframe standards: Nova now enjoys a new Passive, recastable Null Star, and a more versatile Antimatter Drop. Wormhole is no longer duration bound and Molecular Prime allows you to swap between Speed and Slow in-mission as you wish. Warframe Design Director Pablo Alonso has all the details!
Nova fans can experience the improvements in-game when Koumei & the Five Fates launches on all platforms October 2, 2024.
This is the rework that I was hoping for nova, same mechanics but with a lot of QoL changes, being able to use slow and fast nova at the same time??? RECAST THE FIRST ABILITY????
What is that recast augment going to become now is my main question. Cause WE DON'T NEED IT NO MORE
@@jacobdery8856 Do you know what her abilities are? for one the neutron star augment will basically stay the same. The 4th augment not the neutron star augment will make it so that when the antimatter particles from her 1 hit enemies it will make them primed with her 4. You never should be spamming 4 to begin with as it resets the range scaling so no you don't ever need to spam in each zone, just one cast it you can cover multiple rooms with 1 cast. The 4th augment is now useless. The only ability that can apply a antimatter drop is in fact anti matter drop, no augment will make another anti matter drop. Its not this hard to understand her abilities, please don't misinform people if you have 0 idea what you're talking about. It sounds to me you have no idea how to play Nova

@@zionlakins49 yes, but by the time the orb is charged its too far to portal, thats a lot of extra energy cost and I usually subsume it cause it disorients me when I go through cause of the instant position change and stuff that goes through only goes through to its end point making it difficult to aim trickshots.

Dude im not even a nova main and im fangirling woth these changes😂. Literally everything here is what i wanted and didn't know i need for her to be more fun. The recast on her ball so it can instantly go to the location is a game changer. Whats also a game changer is that you no longer need to be negative strength for her ultimate u can now just use them both if u want too. I always used slow nova cause i hated the thought of neg strength. This actually might be game breaking for her honestly.

The insta travel for ball is not that game changer, just removed skill and synergy between abilities. That already exists by using wormhole, now wormhole will only half charge anti matter drop? like whats the use of that? Her 4th augment is now useless. This rework was honestly over cooked with unnecessary changes just for the sake of change. Yes some of it is good but some of the changes went opposite of what it should be, wormhole for example is just a dumb thing to remove duration, all it needed was a lower energy cost, 75 energy just for a portal in a straight line? thats absurd and duration was never an issue of wormhole to begin with. If projectiles still dont count towards portal use then they actually just made it super broken and OP GG cause a super fun and useful trick with nova will just get nerfed most likely due to stupid unneeded changes, if they will count then it still got nerfed. All she needed was her augments built into her current abilities with some new different augments and a new passive and slight visual / sound enhancement. Nova main BTW
@@zionlakins49 It's not the insta travel, it's the slower travel speed upon casting her ball that's an even bigger buff for her. Having the ball travel slower and control better basically allows Nova to have an invincible snowglobe (with the augment) to always be close to her which shoots her survivability through the roof. The instant travel ball is just the cherry ontop.
Im glad that i dont just need 2 novas any more to get two of the versions with the best stats posable

I'll be honest, Nova has been solid since her release so hearing "nova rework" made me extremely worried. But seeing she functions exactly the same but better is a very big relief
This happened to me when they changed Mag a little, they made her from an S tier character to a goddess.

The idea of having to build one of your stats so it goes negative was always a bit of a janky abuse of the background mechanics XD Having speed molecular prime be an actual mechanic is infinitely better
@@TheDarkFable oh no 100% I am just saying before she was in a good state,like yeah you could say it was janky but even then she was still really good,dont get my wrong this change MASIVE and I adore it to the point where I am playing Nova for the next 2 to 3 weeks none stop,but she work and nobody really had a problem with her except defense but...that was ether with slow or speed nova so...yeah,conclution uhhhhhhhh if they change it back it will kill game (not really)

@@igorazevedo7088 I've seen a few here and there. Following the rework video I immediately purchased the Atomica Deluxe Skin and farming void relics for her prime parts 🤣🤣 I'm getting ready for the 2nd.

This is literally everything I wanted for Nova. Not a single thing was missed from my wishlist… amazing.
I love how the warframe devs always see how people exploit mechanics and instead of removing them, they make it a part of the game's design

I wont have to run the augment anymore, which makes me a mod slot richer. The other changes make me so, so happy as I can run my xata's whisper build on any gamemode now

@@TheDarkFable I forget the name of it but it gave you charges for her 1 after killing primed enemies
@@ZiggityZekeNo that's the one for her 4th. The Augment for her 1 made them deal boosted damage and could be recast to send them out all at once, then be recast.

@@ZiggityZeke oh pretty sure that would still work? While you can recast 1 now it's better to have a self sustaining "shield"
I feel like Atomic Drop's damage buff was the biggest part of this. Also Nova Stars' changes are going to make helminth very interesting too. Great stuff Pablo and the rest of the team, keep it up!

Nova is my favourite warframe and im hyped. I always wanted to play caliban and now hes good with an insane skin. Now we just need a oberon, hildryn and banshee rework and my favorite warframes would be back from the dead
Hildryn have a light rework in aegis storm. Basically you can use pillage and helminth abilities when uses her four and balefire will do more damage

Sir, please rework Chroma 1 and 4 ability. 1 like a beam attack shot but powerful and 4 like Jade flight mode, so we feel like using a dragon frame.
Bless you Pablo. I have been using Nova because she has been soo helpful for both Archon Hunt Defence to speed it up. And Netracells. These changes will help her a lot in these situations along with her survivability!
ma men Pablo. Finding lich weapons u want is still take time. could team upgrade this system like this. total 16 kuva weapons ı guess. 4 lich weapon every week with rotation system. reset in one month.

Volt’s passive needed a bit of attention too… actually.. a lot of passives just need replacements.
Volt in general is really good already so that may be why they didn't make him even stronger.
This is such a good rework, been wanting something akin to this for a long time! I think the way her 4 currently works is confusing to new players and can be easily disrupted if you have even one teammate that boosts ability strength in some way. This change to be able to select which effect you want and no longer having to worry about ability strength is very nice. Well done, Pablo and team! :D
End of an icon's era, but probably an improvement.
Far easier to understand, even if the Negative will no longer be a mind twister.
She was one of the last frames where you could build each ability in very different directions, because the scaling was split up.
I am about to be INSUFFERABLE; this is the rework Nova has needed to keep up with the meta. Every “minor” change is an absolutely massive improvement and I’m so so happy about it. Thank you Pablo and DE for bringing my favorite frame back to where she belongs.

If this is considered a "Light Rework" I am suddenly extremely excited to see what the Light Rework for Mag and Nyx is going to be. You made my main frame even stronger, all hail LORD PABLO
As a Nova main, I always feared the day someone looks at Nova and says:" Hey, she's really wiered to build".
Most of the stuff sounds pretty great, especially the replacement of that, by now useless, old passive, that did not even work when you need it.
The Idea of Health Conversion in combination with Equilibrium, working on Nova reliably, sounds intriguing as well.
I don't know where I would get the mod slots for it from, but that's a problem of future me.
- I hope that Antimater Drop now inherits your momentum, so you don't have to stand still while using it.
Also, did they ever fix the Antimater-Absorb-getting- stuck-to-your-hand-problem?
- But the fact that Nullstar scales with strength now, severly limits her modding freedom. On top of lots of duration for Molecular Prime, I now have to fit in more strength as well. She always was a
buildcraft anomaly, and completly fine with 155% strength, witch was such a freeing feeling, to not have to dump as much of strength into the build as you possibly can, like most other frames.
- Unless Pablo means that the number of particles still scale with duration, but the individual damage reduction of each particle scales with strength now. Witch would be nice and flexible, but
sounds kinda messy for a readabillity. But I take it. XD
- I guess the Idea is, to be able to use Wormhole on a tanky build, but I abandoned that abillity a long time ago, since every time I give it another chance, I still port myself out of bounds constantly.
But the now preview marker looks usefull. Also Warframe is a game about running rilly rilly fast, why would I use teleportaion instead? ;)
- The whole you-can-have-both-builds-at-the-same-time-with-you-thing sounds a bit gimmicky, since I struggle to come up with a usecase, but once I got accustomed to it, I hope I will stop
constantly cast the wrong speed out of habbit. It's less confusing for New Players I guess. But it seems you can recoat them if you did an oopsie, witch is great.
- Also, I really hoped that, the until now mandatory, Molecular Fission would be integrated into her kit, instead of recasting Nullstar constantly. It is a really ADHD friendly defense layer this way,
and the only interaction her abilities have with each other.
- On the topic of Moecular Fission, I really hope that multiple Novas in a squad no longer steal their defense capability from each other. Since you can coat an enamy only once and the other
Nova gets no Nullstars back. I guess she can recast it now constantly, but that's not why I carved an augment slot out of her allready thight build.
Together with the removal of the need for Power Donation, another Nova is no longer an "Enemy Nova" who makes you less usefull and eats your defenses.
So that would be nice.

Okay so I have prolly a very unpopular opinion but here it goes. As much as I like the rework I dont think I like the 4 change. With the slow/speed mechanic (unintended kinda but still) there was more customization of playstyle and encouragement to make new builds and swap between them and commit. Right now Nova will not drassticaly change her playstyle with build at least not to the extent of being speedva vs slova. I kinda enjoyed toying around with helmith and trying to pick abilities that did not need strength and play around my character going into negatives. Sooo... idk I feel like with this rework something truly unique is leaving warframe forever for the exchange of having more streamlined mechanics. So I am kinda dissapointed in this rework but it is definietly not bad at all. I think devs did an amazing job and it seems majority of the community likes it so I think its a good call. I just kinda been feeling like builds lately has been stupidly streamlined like... jam power duration range something to survive MAYBE an augment mod and... ye. Maybe its more of a current mods system problem? Not sure I just feel like my creativity with builds means less and less because like... Kullervo will kill enemies on level 200 without mods so... whats the point? I wish warframes also get similar treatment like pets rework. We could get slots only for offensive mods and slots only for some other mods like we have these bulletjump mods or mods that give you decreased gravity but I never decide to put it on cuz I know Ill be losing out on DPS. And sure you can say Im being weird making a point of builds making less and less creative choice but choosing to go for max DPS but well... dealing tons of damage is fun and while other mods are fun as well they made me trade off one fun for the other in a way? So yeah idk if its an unpopular opinion but with Nova being changed like this I hope we will one day get modding overhul.
Farming Forma to get ready to reformat my NovaP build and taking off her shards.
I remember when Nova came out, her whole thing was an explosive chain reaction nuke, but as the game changed and people learned about the bug that became a feature in terms of speed or slow she stopped being the screen clearer she started as and became a solid support, but having all these QoL and the ability to use both slow and speed without having to have two builds (often one being kinda messed up since the mods don't share polarities). We can actually build a cracked high strength nova that can slow, speed up and nuke.

As interesting negative strength was as a concept, I do like this a lot.
Maybe this is finally enough to make the build of my dreams come true: Shatter Nova. Similar to PoEs Herald of Ice skill.

Thinking about it, the passive is not that amazing. Something like that should have been apart of her 4 so the team can also benefit from it, instead it only applies to Nova. Its still 100x better than the current passive though. Her passive could have been something to boosting blast status or applying blast increases crit chance or damage, or even when applying blast you gain parkour velocity. Actually with the changed 4th augment that passive would have been way better as the new augment instead of just making it a useless mod. A lot of good but some over cooked and silly changes. Glad Nova getting some love
I already have the 2 separate builds for speed and slow... Now i wonder if the strength i have on my slow build matches the speed of the 10% strength build, curious to check
Cool, I made so many different builds just to make a combo with “recastable” #1 with a build choice of both slow and speed with the Energy Conversion mod.

Please revisit ember, that light touchup you did really didn't change her much at all.
Overguard from augment is nice but immolation still has no cap on energy drain and why are players punished for wanting damage reduction?. Her 4 still does anemic damage, even more noticable now that enemies have a lot more health and stripping their armor really doesn't feel impactful anymore. Please buff ember
Finally two casts for the ult no mode dumb negative strength builds. They won't be missed, especially with helminth.

Didn't think they'd incorporate the speed increase as part of her kit, but hey, more fun for the playstyle now. Good on the, great for us.
With that unreasonably high number of Warframes we have nowadays, I am really glad you are looking at them and fix them to the potential of their designs and mechanics.
They really implemented a community build into a basic kit, cool.
As someone who likes to use many frames to spice up combat im glad Nova is getting this buff to be even more fun to use. Rip negative ability strength.

This is more than just a "Light" Rework. This is a massive game changer. Nova has always afavourite of mine. Can't wait to try her out once again.
ABILITY DAMAGE INCREASE ACROSS THE GAME WILL BE TO HEALTH SHIELD AND OVERGUARD, SO NOVA 4 AND OTHER ABILITIES THAT BUFF DAMAGE WILL ALL NOW BE LIKE PSUEDO MAGNETIC?! 😮
These changes sound like they will kill build diversity for her. Like you now HAVE to build for strength so there is not much of a reason to go for the funky builds i love her so much for.

Kinda nice but i see some crazy builder not gonna be DE remove slowly but surely the minus stats that give you a new range of application, there is no rly loss but i undesrstand that they will be disapointed
