I don't have any candy themed games I think but I love dessert so it would be nice to have at least one.
I seem to not have a lot of science themed games too, I remember enjoying Subatomic.
The rulebook is definitely important for me. I have several unplayed games on account of the rulebook. A clear setup page, an overview of the flow, and then the details of each action. Player aids are great too so you don't have to refer to the game too much. I like examples of turns too.

games need a good rule book, I am amazed that game companies will spend so much money developing a game but include what are sometimes impossible to follow rule books

In a rule book I want to see a picture of how to layout the game on the table. I also would like to see the starting resources higlighted as an easy to view reminder. I prefer a quick start guide and then a full appendix. Index and glossary are great too.

Sweet Lands looks really fun. There is a lighter game that Ireally like called "Just Desserts". It's a game where you are tryingto satisfy your customers' sweet tooth! No answer for the second question. As for the third, I think every rule book needs a page solely dedicated to all the iconography in the game, I hate it when the game has you doing a scavenger hunt for an icon, just to figure out what it does. Also, a rule book needs a quick setup and end game scoring breakdown on the back of the rulebook. You know, so you are not trying to find that buried somewhere in the ruleson pg 27. Bohnanza comes to mind when I think of bad rule books. Stay awesome, Sarah!

I am also backing March of Ants. I love a good Civ game, and this is right up my alley with Animals\Nature as the focus. Generally speaking I prefer to play the most well developed\polished version of a game. So with this Revised Edition I'm expecting the most complete
    efined version of the game.
Plus yes, Antz rules. Ants are also fun, which is another reason for me to back the game.

NF: I've catched up to end of Chapter 3 and I will continue as time allows. I had to switch it to the morning on weekends since it was having a real impact on my sleep when I was reading during the evening. I definitely enjoy having your summary overview of the Chapter even if I haven't read it yet

You don't take voting advice for the American Presidency from a Canadian game designer? They know best!

Rule book should have pictures of components and how to play. Nice separated sections with easy to find sections. My friend this past weekend hated how they don't start with a synopsis, same as you.
    Is Distilled science?

I don’t know if distilling is considered to be a scientific process 🤔

I purchased the audio book. Does the written book go through the trump presidency?

The last chapter covers the years 2000-2014! So no, it doesn’t!

@@BoardGamesinaMinute Wonder if you can get the new chapters somehow. It is even more infuriating. Here are a couple of things. Son in law is a Zionist so of course trump gave Israel permission to wipe out more Palestinians. Allowing them to take Gaza and whatever else land they want. And of course with the aid of the US Military.

    Candy Themed Game: Chocolate Factory.
    Science Themed Game: Darwin's Journey.
What do I want in a rulebook: Basically anything written\collaborated on by Paul Grogan. I agree that I enjoy when a rulebook has a 2-3 page Overview of the game flow, and then break it down and get into the nitty gritty of each action.
Bitoku is a good example of this, for me personally. Devir in general usually does a good job with their rulebooks.
Oh and a component list near the front is a MUST. That and an appendix for cards\tiles etc. Even if it's super obvious that a tile gives you 1VP for claiming\playing it, it should be listed.
I game with a pair of lawyers, and when things are not printed clearly, they tend to take liberties with the intent of the symbols or words.
Consistency is also important. If you say X+Y=Z in one portion of the rulebook, do not later say Z=X+Y. While, yes, it's the same thing, it can confuse people, and opens that door for people to interpret it differently, despite being the same information.
Signed, your friendly rulebook reader\game group teacher.

Very helpful, thank you! As a lawyer, I pick up on certain things in rulebooks easily, like inconsistencies!!
Haven’t played Chocolate Factory in years!

We thought Bitoku had a horrible rule book. The rules are actually simple and they made it seem super hard. As my friend says, the theme gets in the way.

    Fiction Book:
I also didn't expect the modern setting. I was also hoping for more folklore and definitely a supernatural element.
I really enjoyed the first story, the second one was OK, but the third story was just aggravating.
The second and third felt more like psychological thrillers, than horror.
It was disturbing to read all of them. In the first story the mother willing to pawn off the daughters and threatening the less compliant daughter with sending her younger one really made me boil.
In the second one I didn't see where it was going and I was like wtf is going on when it hit me.
The third one I was just aggravated at the complete absurd of the situation.
In all of them there is a theme of people treating other people as property. Parents "owning" their children, rich spouses "owning" the counterpart, and serial killers "owning" their chosen target that now belongs to them until they are done playing with it.
Let's check the next three as I'm hoping there are more like the first one. They are quite a fast read anyway x)
