I have Fox Experiment & Faeries, but haven't played yet. Also bought the kickstarter deluxe Fairies game. A bit bummed that Fairies will be frustrating to learn.
I think games with history are super important. Hopefully players look into it and learn more about the wars. I'm even okay with current wars as long as it accurately portrayed.
I'm ahead in the book now. I was surprised today when he said that Israel originally supported Hamas. Looked into it more and found out they helped create them. Makes sense, Israel wanted them to take out the PLO leaders. They just assumed Palestinians are as mean and nasty as they are. Glad that didn't work out...or so I hope. I'm just a bit past that.
This year I culled more games than I bought 💪 I currently only cull games at a national convention LeiriaCon and when I decide to cull a game it just goes in the attic and then next year I'll decide again which games go for the LeiriaCon used store
My side hustle is in history, I love historical themed games, anytime a movie, book, or game can get people to look further into the history of something I think it's a good thing. If you try to erase uncomfortable events in history it makes it harder to learn from these events and prevent these types of things from happening again.
The people in the industry that you are talking about, my interpretation is that their backing or not backing of political caused or social caused is ultimately about maintaining their grift for free games and paid gigs, right now it's about backing Harris, two weeks from now it will be something else but ultimately it is about what they feel will keep them relevant and getting those review copies and not about actually really taking a side due to morality or being consistent.
You are asking them to be consistent about issues and they are not interested in being consistent. What they are consistent about is finding issues that they can use to purge the hobby of people in the name of opening up the hobby to more people. They are consistent in constantly finding issues or taking sides on a issue that allows them to dogpile and block people in the hobby and purging the content creator space of competition for KS campaigns, paid content and free games. How many years ago was your trip to Universal or Ant Lab discussing the harassment issue at cons and yet these issues are still constantly brought up years later by the same 4-5 people trying to remain relevant? From Trump to Johnny Depp to AI art or sexy elves any issue to push people out of the hobby in the name of growing the hobby they will take. In my other hobbies, reading, authors and bookstore owners, do the opposite, they try to get more people to read their books, visit their stores, attend their events....board games it seems to be the opposite or at least some of the once relevant players try to do the opposite.
I'm glad I'm not in any sort of fray like that. I just get games to play with a couple people. I dont care about "growing the industry". That's a total mixed bag. As one tries to appeal to more and more people things could get watered down in terms of quality.
Did you say donate or give to “Flag Con”? Or something like that? What is that? I have often thought about donating not selling games I’m not getting to the table.
FLAG Con! Yes! Finger Lakes Area Gaming Convention! A local convention in Ithaca that I am helping to organize! I have donated games to the library for FLAG Con previously!
What the heck, with your rave review of Color Field....My favorite colors are purple and red, it really depends on my mood and what it is. But absolutely love both colors.
They care more about colonization in a game like Puerto Rico or East Indian Trading Company than actual colonization!
I could not understand why everyone was constantly backing down to America. American politicians usually don't back down in a pissing match.

I would be interested in Brass and Blazon. Darn. I just bought Aqua last week.

Answer: It is a game. If we deny our history, how can we learn about the mistakes. At the end it is all in the eye of the beholder.
