This really reminds me of how important it is to make time for self-care. We have to make time - all of us - as we are so busy. I get up at 4AM to make this happen. The one thing that I do need to do more of is take more time at night for myself. I have my skin care routine which is a life saver, but it is not enough and I realized last night my evenings as soon as I get home are a freken mad dash - I also need to journal at night / have been doing so since the age of 14, and also writing in a gratitude journal

One tip my primary care gave me is to always schedule the following annual physical at your current one. That way I don’t have to think about it, and I’m on track. Not all clinics will schedule out so far, but hers does and I find it to be so helpful!

Ah, we gals do take care of others. I know you are a good care taker from watching your channel.
I’m a walker. I have gotten up mornings at 4:30 am ( Monday thru Friday)and walk an hour. I have done this since 1993 when my dad had open heart surgery. My daughter, who just turned 40, started walking with me 23 years ago . I have been very aware of my diet and began eating clean a little over a year ago. Feel great. Take no meds. God has blessed me. Did some reading on red light therapy. There have been studies. I enjoy twenty minutes of sun daily when weather permits.
I’m not much on fashion or make up but you have given me much food for thought in those areas.
    Thanks for sharing
    I do enjoy your channel!

Self care is so important! I never understood the selfish part. It makes no sense. It’s only when we take care of ourselves that we are truly able to care for others in a positive productive way. Thank you for sharing! Some things I do daily and love is oil pulling, drink 16oz of water with Molecular hydrogen and having collagen first thing in the morning. Read my Bible daily, I have a red light panel instead of a mask (it covers more area)..I do that daily and meditate while doing it focusing on my breathing to relax. I do yoga daily and some form of a workout. I love taking baths and have used that Dr Teals lavender that you showed. I also like the cannabis one lol. I end my day by writing three things I’m grateful for in my grateful journal. That little step helps in so many ways. Thanks Marnie!

I love your videos! Always great info! When I’m stressed or feeling out of sorts I have a book-yes I love to actually turn the pages--but there is a chapter in one of my favorite books that makes me laugh so hard and I earmarked it and when I’m stressed or just out of sorts I read that chapter and as ridiculous as it is I laugh so hard I cry every time and it makes me feel better. I recommended it to a friend and she loves it too! I also do exercise everyday and it helps! But this video really got me thinking and adding your suggestions!!

One of my self care habits: I only allow myself 30 minutes of watching/listening to news each day. I used to work for the governor of our state several years ago. I had to stay on top of current events daily, which drove my stress level up. When I left that position, I wouldn’t, and couldn’t, keep up with daily news. It had become too much of a brain suck and stressor. I feel 30 minutes now is more than enough time to catch up and then tune out.

I have recently found Pahla B too. Another great workout TH-cam is Burpee Girl. She puts out a video every single day. She doesn't talk, the music is good, they are knee friendly and range from 10 mins to over an hour. Most are in the 30 min range. Just a suggestion.

Marty, I loved this video! It is so timely for me. I’ve always been into make up close looking my very best doing absolutely everything possible to stay in good shape good health and yet sometimes life has other plans for you. I am six days out from brain surgery. Out of the blue I discovered I had a large brain tumor and was very fortunate to get into surgery quickly and at this point I am just lost in terms of moving forward. I’m sure hundreds if not thousands of your viewers have been in the same position. I’m not depressed. I’m not feeling sorry for myself. I’m trying to look down the road but I can’t wash my hair and use products. I can’t use a blow dryer. I just feel like a total mess and it’s not my vibe. I am in every Heron place type of girl, and I’d like to look like I stepped out of vogue so lying in bed with a rats nest of method here in, not really knowing which direction to go is got me a little anxious. I’m sure it will all work out and I don’t mean to be negative. But I do enjoy your videos and taking care of myself, is obviously going to be a big priority from this point on Thanks for all the time and effort you put into your channel. I’ve been following you for years and you seem like a really positive special person. I’ll stay tuned and hope for the best for myself and will take you up on your tips to continue to reach out to people. It’s amazing how much support there is with friends and family when you have a difficult situation and I feel so blessed at this point anyway, I’m getting very long winded at school probably be a video in itself lol thanks again for all your suggestions

Lynn!! I am so glad you’re ok! I’m by no means an expert in this, but I have heard from many people that have had major surgeries that it is very common to feel a sort of depression afterwards. Maybe if you know that this is part of the natural healing process and it won’t last will make it more helpful for you. Consider this a brief vacation from your day to day grind and try to find the positives. It sounds like you’re already starting to do that. I hope some of my other viewers who have real experience with this can chime in with some more helpful advice. I’m just so grateful you’re ok and here with us!

@@MsGoldgirl thanks Marnie! I know things will get better and I am in the very early stages of recovery. Any advice from your viewers is more than welcome. I am sure my surgeon and oncology team will have suggestions for me as well. I just don’t feel like myself obviously and I am anxious to get back to what I consider normality. This is just thrown me for a bit of a loop.

All great tips, Marnie. It should be enjoyable to take care of yourself. Regarding your health…tips from an older woman. Keep a medical calendar. Do all screenings: lipid, mammogram, colonoscopy, skin checks, and schedule for your spouse too! Try to be a partner with your doctors to prevent and catch things early. I have been positively motivated by using an electronic medical record that our healthcare system & physicians use. You can see everything about your care and stay on top of things. And do your own research about issues you might have…educate yourself!! Ok, I will stop preaching now. Stay well, friends!!
