I love that you gave a realistic summary of your trip. Personally, I am a city girl and I love to seeing a trip that I don’t think I would want to take, but I totally loved watching. I will stick with Paris and Tokyo! But honestly it’s refreshing to see someone be honest about a trip - not every trip is perfect and magical. Glad you made the best of it!!!
Marnie, you’re a hoot! I love your adventurous spirit and willingness to try new things. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. You embrace life with such humor, and of course, great style!
Wow, for someone who isn't an "outdoors girl" you really were tested. Your sweetie, I'm sure, knows your comfort zone and yet he planned this pseudo iron man workout for you. The best sounding stop for me was the ice cream shop. I hope hubby appreciates how you took one (or two) for the team. Great trip, great video and great looks.
Marnie, that was such a great video. Enjoyed all of it. I had no idea Taos was that high in elevation. Sorry about your elevation sickness. That must have been miserable.
I’m glad I’m not the only one freaked out on scary drives or bridges over deep drops. I used to say I am afraid of heights but I now believe it is the falling that is the real problem. I can totally relate. Your pictures were beautiful and you were very brave. Thanks for sharing.
I am an avid mountain biker and live in Southern California, I’m 51, I will say it takes a ton of time on the bike to get comfortable and strong enough to go a long distance. The saddle (that’s what we call the seat 😂) takes trial and error but none are really comfortable, you just get used to it I guess and wear padded shorts too. I love your videos, I can relate because we are almost exactly the same size. ❤ Nikki
I LOVED THIS VIDEO!! Not only did you look gorgeous in spite of your altitude sickness, you managed to show off one of my most favorite places on earth. Thank you so very much for taking all of the footage and sharing your vacation with us. ❤️😘
Such a fun video - love the footage of the sand dunes 😅! My husband & I really enjoy hiking trips - especially when there is a water feature - so really appreciate your links to gear (I could use new water shoes & a lightweight backpack). Y’all had so many adventures on this trip - even w a bit of altitude sickness, so great that y’all got to experience New Mexico & lower Colorado doing new things outdoors. Best to you, Marnie.
I wish I look like you, have your level of energy and confidence when I’m 50. I’m on my way to 40 and feeling overwhelmed by life, at least during weekdays. In short, you look great as always!
Marnie I knew I connected with you but this really made me see how alike we are. And my husband ( also a Michael) plans trips similar to your Michael. The pictures are stunning !! Glad you made it back with minimal scrapes and bumps .Shana Tova to you and your beautiful family 🍏🍯🍎
The views are absolutely spectacular! Can I also say, you are so meticulous and amazing. I tend to overpack on such trips because I don’t know what the weather would be like, what activity my husband and friends would throw my way or what accessories would I need for the trip. Thank you for sharing great pieces that go well together!
I loved hearing about your trip. Such fun you and your husband get to have these adventures together. I say next trip is to the beach with lots of spa treatments!
Oh my gosh!! What a time you had! Not boring to watch AT ALL, btw! 😀 I spend many mornings beginning my day with you and that was just a really fun watch! When you said “the mountains of Vermont” I had to chuckle. We used to live there, and being originally from the PNW, we insisted that all VT had was hills. 😄 That was a fun peak into anew Mexico. Recently my daughter said to me about something I had put on, “Wow, mom! Look at you being all on trend!” I owe that to you, Marnie. 👍🏻😋💖Thanks for all of the great fashion advice!
Love This video b/c anyone who has ever been on vacation knows that it’s not all awesome- usually something goes wrong or someone gets sunburned, etc. Anyway, it was refreshing to hear your real life take on a vacation! 😉 Glad that you are ok and the high altitude didn’t have any worse effect on you! 😬
This brings tears to my eyes because it’s my hometown & I miss it! I know each place & company you visited. Hope to go back to see my family soon! The turquoise sky & mountains are the best! My hubby love Taos country club. It’s a gorgeous course.
Happy New Year Marnie and Michael! Great video, scenery and accommodations looked amazing, your descriptions are entertaining and your trip down the sand dune was classic…Thank God no injuries 😅
This was so much fun to watch. Thank you for sharing it! My husband planned an 11-day canyon hiking trip for our 25th anniversary. I was so miserable and didn’t know until the end that I had altitude sickness. He thought I just wasn’t in good shape. Like you, I enjoyed so many things about the trip, but there were challenging times. 😅 Love your channel. ❤
I"m going to recommend an all inclusive resort for your next vacation!!! You need to lounge and read all your books and chill after all that! Looked beautiful, though- thank you for sharing!
Thanks for sharing your trip and experiences! You appeared adventurous and a good sport! I'd recommend "padded" bike shorts for sure! They make a world of difference! Not sexy, but "the business down there" will appreciate it!
Loved your video! I love Taos and Angel Fire area - however, the altitude got to me too! Being from Texas the altitude is a huge change. You saw a lot of what we did and enjoyed seeing the pics!
Did a Backroads biking Taos, Santa Fe trip and stayed at the El Monte Sagrado - FABULOUS!! My husband had gone home ill and I was all alone and they put me in one of the two bedroom casitas. Oh GEE! Spoiled. I think is was the China one. Santa Fe was fabulous too. Jewelry was amazing. Thanks for all your tips - travel and fashion.
Oh you had me laughing in complete understanding! I so want to be “outdoorsy”, it’s beautiful, but have found I’m naturally “indoorsy” 😅 I would still love to visit Taos, minus the scary (and altitude sickness) stuff!
Wow! You are so brave & thank you so much for sharing, and being so transparent ❤ my husband and I just bought bikes for our 28th wedding anniversary. They are not mountain bikes. They’re urban bikes. It’s a combination between a cruiser and a mountain bike. We rode 21/2 hours, along the Mendocino coast line very comfortable & such a wonderful time.
Thanks Marnie, I too despise biking of and kind. For some reason my bottom and the bike seats just don't get along. Look up the Devils Causeway in Colorado. I did that terrifying hike. Got up there and couldn't turn back. I was terrified and crawled across that thing on my belly crying all the way. I'm hyperventilating just remembering it. Love your commentary ❤
The first time we went to Colorado, I had altitude sickness and was sick for 3 days. Dizzy and very nauseous. After I adjusted I was fine. Love the outfits.
Thanks for sharing,, we just got back ourselves from Taos NM ourselves (traveled from S.E Tennessee). Neat little place we enjoyed the town & especially the weather. There is no way we could hike with the altitude!!! Kicks our butt..
Michael: “Are you ok? I got it on film!” My husband and I went to the Dunes a couple of years ago and our experience was pretty on par with yours 😅 I really enjoy you sharing your adventures with us!
We have visited most of those places many times and always love it there. It was great to revisit them through your video. I am afraid of heights but finally walked all the way across the Rio Grande Gorge bridge shortly after my 50th birthday. We stay in Red River and visit places on the Enchanted Circle from there. I hope you ate some of the delicious New Mexican food. I love eating tamales and enchiladas "Christmas style." The river water can be clean or stained depending on the amount of rain received in the mountains recently.
First of all you looked amazing for not feeling well. Secondly what a trooper to keep going and that sand slide mishap. Sorry, but it made me chuckle, especially Michael saying your going to fast, take it easy, then boom!! Thank you for your honest trip accounts❤ The ice cream worth the hell on that mountain😂
Hi Marnie! I have a suggestion for you to try that I think viewers might appreciate. I love the vibe of mixing high end with bargain options. I don’t much shop at JC Pennys but I found jeans there that are amazing! They are the St John’s Bay straight leg jean with slenderizing panel. They come in multiple washes and sizes including tall and petite. They have a bit of stretch so are super comfortable. Hope you will give them a try and share the love!
Wow! Your trip looked awesome! I’m with you on the mountain biking. I hate you felt bad most of the trip, but thanks for sharing! I really enjoyed this video!❤
I am so Happy you got to experience the beauty of Taos (sometimes the service.. not so much). I would have loved to have met you for a margarita or a mocktail. Yes the altitude sickness is a thing. Water, water water is a must here.
@@MsGoldgirl Nextime you come to Taos, send Michael golfing or skiing and I will meet you for shopping. Thank you for all of your amazing content. You keep me comany at work many days.
I loved this! We are considering going to Angel Fire next Spring, so this video is being saved! But I have to share - I would have been exactly the same on the bike ride! It's not so easy riding up and down hills anymore!! Lol!! So I appreciate your honesty!
I so feel your pain! Just got home from my son’s in Colorado who lives at 10,000-11,000 ft. I take meds before and during my trip and still got sick. At one point my PulseOx was 78. Luckily they have oxygen there for their guests to use. And the dirt roads you mentioned, they live on one of those!! Ugghh!! My condo felt pretty good when I got back!
Hey.. my husband took me mountain biking in July. So fun… until I fell and broke my knee. Just started walking without crutches or wheel chair last week. It’s amazing how much Amazon shopping you do when you’re couch bound for two months. 🤷♀️
Oh my goodness, you sound just like me! I absolutely love nature and the outdoors BUT I need my feet firmly planted on flat ground!🤣. My sister went mountain biking with her husband in Alberta Canada and she said it was the absolute scariest thing she has ever done and will never do it again. ❤️
You need padded bike shorts for riding bikes! I am a cyclist and it is horrible without them. In pain for days after. Looks like a really great trip. Thank you for sharing!!
Oh I’m the same way, I don’t like sweating and hanging out outside. No camping. Lol, don’t go to Alaska if you don’t like dirt roads that hug a mountain with a sheer drop down.😅. Gorgeous scenery. Looks like you had an amazing vacation.
This video has so much useful information! The sand dunes are no joke! You were near (or drove through) where we live in Trinidad, CO 😃. Voting for you now on LTK. Good luck!!!!
Ive always wanted to go to Taos! It’s a double edged sword being 68…..I’m a bit old for some of the activities…..but the good news is, I’m a bit old for some of the activities….😂😂😂……..Happy New Year
LMAO You go Girl! I didn’t know you had it in you! You stepped out of your comfort zone and most of it paid off! I’m proud of You 😁Those are the kind of adventures my son plans out for me when I visit him in Portland Oregon from St. Louis Missouri 😂. But I always look stylish and practical thanks to your advice! Keep up the great job and I’m looking forward to hearing about your next trip …. The good the bad and the Ugly!
Great video, Marni! I really enjoy your videos. I’ve never been to Taos, but many times to Santa Fe ( too many in my opinion, buy my guy loves it there, sooo….) I think I’ll suggest Taos next time. Actually, Sedona, Arizona is on our list. By the way, you look GREAT! I loved your outfits!
I feel you on the altitude sickness. I suffered with it in Peru and Bolivia, especially going through Cusco Peru on the way to Machu Picchu. And taking the altitude sickness pills ahead of time didn’t help and gave me other bad symptoms. I drank a lot of coco tea and chewed coco leaves, the local remedies (yes cocaine plants but not the same as using the drug, so they say). Oh and hit the oxygen every chance I could!
Taos looks amazing! Thanks for sharing. I totally agree about the biking. NOT a fan. But I do love hiking :). I had altitude sickness once for a few days when we went to Brice Canyon years ago (lived in Flat Florida at the time) So not fun!
Marnie, I couldn't help but laugh alot when I saw you tumbling down that hill. I bet at the time it was a bit frightening though. You have more courage than me! The closest thing to that kind of sickness was when I traveled to Arizona from Georgia. I couldn't even wear my shoes the next day because I was so swollen. And the nausea was like pregnancy all over again.
My ankles were swollen too and now I realize I had it a lot worse than I thought. That fall....when it happened I thought it was hysterical...now I think it's even funnier!
Sounds like a magnificent vacay place! Thanks for sharing, Marnie! I love all the tips! Btw, where did you leave the dogs? I’m always curious when I see travel blogs of pawrents cos our doodle always makes me pause whenever a possibility of travel comes up for us. Never easy.
I live in Colorado and went to Santa Fe last week and we went to the Sand Dunes first. Didn't do the sledding though. The Sand is so nice to walk in barefoot though.
Looked beautiful. I’m with you on the heights though-not for me. Went hiking one time in Colorado and that’s when I realized it was not my thing. And altitude sickness is a serious thing. Also, loved all your outfits!
Just beautiful. I hate to ask this but since you said you don’t really like to exercise, how did you lose weight so fast? I exercise and still struggle.
I used to belong to a bike club years ago and you have to "break in" your tush to the bike seat. I later learned there are cushy tushy bike seats that the hard core bikers usually don't use. Before I switched out my racing saddle I did a club "century run" (yep, 100 miles) and couldn't make it to work the following day I was so sore. My then boyfriend rode with his friends way in front of me. They drafted each other (riding single file so you didn't have to peddle as hard in the slip stream). He finished the 100 miles, went home, showered and ate lunch. He then followed the course backwards until he found me at the 80 mile mark struggling up El Toro road in Laguna Niguel, CA. I almost asked him to give me a ride home but I had my pride. I decided afterwards (I did finish) that I was one and done on any future Century Runs. I came to the same conclusion after I did the 1990 LA Marathon. Some things just don't need to be repeated. Lol
Great video, you are adorable…wish you were my daughter or daughter in-law! I am wishing you and your family a Shana Tova today as I will be busy cooking tomorrow🍷
So awful to feel sick like that on vacation. It happened to me in Colorado. Did you ever try those oxygen cans? I just found out about them and wonder if they work?

I agree-the mountains in Vermont are pretty low. Glad I could help you impress your daughter! 😉
Voted Thanks for the fun travel guide. I have had altitude issues and found it helpful to add more vitamins to my routine.
Thank you for sharing! I will have to add Taos to my bucket list.
Marnie I always appreciate your honesty. I’m sorry your trip wasn’t a little better, but thank you for being REAL. Superb video as always!
Thank you so much!
This brings tears to my eyes because it’s my hometown & I miss it! I know each place & company you visited. Hope to go back to see my family soon! The turquoise sky & mountains are the best! My hubby love Taos country club. It’s a gorgeous course.
So excited for you! Voted when you first mentioned it! Thanks for the awesome contents!
Yay! Thank you!
Oh Marnie, what a time you had! Michael is no longer allowed to plan the trips 😂 get some rest now. Fall will 🤞be here soon!
Happy New Year Marnie and Michael! Great video, scenery and accommodations looked amazing, your descriptions are entertaining and your trip down the sand dune was classic…Thank God no injuries 😅
Love this color on you. Have you done a video on seasonal colors/color analysis?😊
Marnie loved your video. What a good sport you are. Just wondering what size you bought in the last Amazon tank/jogger travel set.
❤
He's lucky you didn't leave him in the canyon!!
I"m going to recommend an all inclusive resort for your next vacation!!! You need to lounge and read all your books and chill after all that! Looked beautiful, though- thank you for sharing!
Looked incredible!! Can’t wait to plan a trip out there! Thanks so much for sharing!!!!
Have fun!
Loved this video! It’s honest and funny! I too love to be in nature but I have never felt the need to conquer it! PS I voted for you!
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your trip and experiences! You appeared adventurous and a good sport! I'd recommend "padded" bike shorts for sure! They make a world of difference! Not sexy, but "the business down there" will appreciate it!
I just think I will never do that again. 😆
Every crevice...lol...being from Florida I know the feeling! You look great! I think good food is part of the vacation experience:)
THAT was a really awesome vacation video!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks so much!!
Love you Marnie, I want to book my trip to Taos right now, looked amazing.
It’s just a great spot all the time. It’s supposed to be great for skiing but that is so not my thing!
Shana Tova! I love your content! You are classy, beautiful, and very elegant. Thank you!
I'm a biker. It's all about the seat. 😁
Happy New year!
Does your rear end hurt all the time? 😆
@@MsGoldgirl no. It's just having the right seat. I've had a very sore bottom from the wrong seat.
I think it takes time for you to get used to it and then your okay, but the seat does make a difference.
Oh no!!! That is terrifying!
The first time we went to Colorado, I had altitude sickness and was sick for 3 days. Dizzy and very nauseous. After I adjusted I was fine. Love the outfits.
Poor you Marnie 😮 glad there were some bright spots in your trip ❤
Lots of bright spots!
Thanks for sharing,, we just got back ourselves from Taos NM ourselves (traveled from S.E Tennessee). Neat little place we enjoyed the town & especially the weather. There is no way we could hike with the altitude!!! Kicks our butt..
What a great video, thank you. It was a great chuckle to start my day. It really looked so beautiful. Thank you again.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Michael: “Are you ok? I got it on film!”
My husband and I went to the Dunes a couple of years ago and our experience was pretty on par with yours 😅 I really enjoy you sharing your adventures with us!
La Shana Tova. I love you. It makes me so happy to hear someone who talks about what she will wear to Friday Night Services.
I used to shop at JCP all the time! I guess I thought they were in bankruptcy and closing-now I need to go back and check them out!
Wow! Your trip looked awesome! I’m with you on the mountain biking. I hate you felt bad most of the trip, but thanks for sharing! I really enjoyed this video!❤
Even not feeling well it was still a great trip!!
I am so Happy you got to experience the beauty of Taos (sometimes the service.. not so much). I would have loved to have met you for a margarita or a mocktail. Yes the altitude sickness is a thing. Water, water water is a must here.
I’m sorry we didn’t get a chance to meet!
I've been at that altitude and was fine-not sure why now it hit me. I'm so sorry that happened to you-it's not fun!
Hey.. my husband took me mountain biking in July.
I agree!
Voted for you, Miss Sweet Tea!
Happy New Year ❤
You need padded bike shorts for riding bikes! I am a cyclist and it is horrible without them. In pain for days after. Looks like a really great trip. Thank you for sharing!!
Came here to say this! I can't even do one bike ride without them.
Oh I’m the same way, I don’t like sweating and hanging out outside. No camping. Lol, don’t go to Alaska if you don’t like dirt roads that hug a mountain with a sheer drop down.😅. Gorgeous scenery. Looks like you had an amazing vacation.
It was beautiful!!
This video has so much useful information! The sand dunes are no joke! You were near (or drove through) where we live in Trinidad, CO 😃. Voting for you now on LTK. Good luck!!!!
Yes!! I remember seeing the signs for Trinidad!
Love your tips! Have gotten some great clothes thanks to you! What pants were you wearing in the first travel outfit? Loved them! Thanks Marnie!♥️
They’re part of a set with the sweater-they’re linked!
YOU NEEDED PADDED BIKER SHORTS!! MY DAUGHTER USES THEM. 😊
Now I"m kind of curious to try some more outdoorsy things-who know I could do it?
Great video, Marni! I really enjoy your videos. I’ve never been to Taos, but many times to Santa Fe ( too many in my opinion, buy my guy loves it there, sooo….) I think I’ll suggest Taos next time. Actually, Sedona, Arizona is on our list. By the way, you look GREAT! I loved your outfits!
Taos is SO different from Santa Fe-it's a lot more green and cooler too!
We slid in saucers at White Sands! Loved it! I took a tumble as well"😮
Oh wow!
As soon as I heard mountain and bike, I knew. Very funny video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I want to go to Taos now!
3:42 the travel pants! Wondering about! or thinking of wearing similar!! work or home
oh they are a set! I have to remember this outfit! I once was going to photo outfits w my closet but then got tedious but sketch etc to always know
Are there alteratives to Scoop Pullover and knit pants? They are sold out but the color and style looks very nice and wearable in fall.
Never easy.
We board them at a kennel that they (and we) love!
Enjoyed!
I live in Colorado and went to Santa Fe last week and we went to the Sand Dunes first. Didn't do the sledding though. The Sand is so nice to walk in barefoot though.
Haha that’s me today … I’m in Idaho and it cooled down to 80 I’ve been freezing all day wearing leggings and a sweatshirt 😅
I'm in Idaho, too! It's weird how 80 can feel cool. LOL
Love it!!
Looked beautiful. I’m with you on the heights though-not for me. Went hiking one time in Colorado and that’s when I realized it was not my thing. And altitude sickness is a serious thing. Also, loved all your outfits!
Sounds like you had a Great Vacay-lol!!!!!!!!!
I really did in spite of a few hiccups.
If you are a teenager like my two girls, you wear your fake birkenstocks with puma ankle socks. They do it all the time.
Can you share which water shoes you purchased on Amazon. My husband is looking for a pair.
Just beautiful. I hate to ask this but since you said you don’t really like to exercise, how did you lose weight so fast? I exercise and still struggle.
It wasn't fast-I've lost about 10 pounds over 7-8 months. It just was finally noticeable recently. I have been eating much less!
You are so fun to watch.
Lol
You are one tough cookie!
Was it colder there? Because you wore a lot of long sleeved. I’d die of heat in long sleeves if it’s over 70 degrees 😳
It’s all relative-it was over 100° back home so 70° is over 30 degrees cooler. That’s fall weather for us! Evenings dropped into the low 50s.
Great video, you are adorable…wish you were my daughter or daughter in-law! I am wishing you and your family a Shana Tova today as I will be busy cooking tomorrow🍷
Thank you! Just started on the kugel so it’s easy to just reheat tomorrow night!
So awful to feel sick like that on vacation. It happened to me in Colorado. Did you ever try those oxygen cans? I just found out about them and wonder if they work?
Oh yes-they were a lifesaver!
Hi 😊 over here from the conference
Hi!! So glad you’re here!!
My husband is also not afraid of heights, but gravity scares the-you-know-what out of him.
