I was thinking of giving this one a shot and of course I come to see your thought on it. I've heard these are fantastic by people I've talked to on the course that play with them. It is interesting to me that you got high numbers on your irons and hybrid but low numbers on your driver. Given the target swing speed for this ball, I would have thought you would get low numbers on your irons and reasonably high numbers on your driver given you are swinging your driver faster. My driver swing speed is right around 100 and I tend to bounce back and forth between the Srixon Z-Star XV and the Q-Star Tour. I hit the XV further with my driver but I tend to hit the softer Q-Star tour further with my irons. Also, I like the bouncy ball effect of the Q-star Tour on my putter.

I have tested the Vero X1 a couple of times now and I just honestly have such mixed results with it. However I will say that I texted the X2 and I absolutely love it.

I found one at my range, been using it and I can say, it does spin, but really depends. Its not gonna change your game, you are. But its pretty nice, hit a shot out of a bunker and it just hit the green and didnt bounce/roll further. I expected the ball to roll at least a few more feet, but it didnt. Overall, pretty solid ball, and for the price its pretty good. Cool logo design (The Oncore)

That's kind of where I'm at with that golf ball too. Lukewarm at best. It does some things really well but there's a lot to improve on. The X2 made those improvements very well

Thanks for the review. I have watched a few of your videos now and really like them as they are so relatable to me and likely other average golfers. My clubhead speed with driver is approximately 95mph. My main problem is left and right dispersion with the driver. Any thoughts on balls I sould consider to improve left-right dispersion? BTW, I usually play either Vice Pro, TP5x or Pro V1x

It's going to be a switch to a 2 piece until the ball striking improves a little. The vice pro and tp5x spin a ton, and that includes side spin. They are designed to bend the ball at will. That also means that minor fades and draws will be exaggerated. You could try something like a matte Callaway super fast or q star tour. Those are 3 piece balls with less spin.

@@GolfBallAddict Thanks for your response and recommendations. I picked up a sleeve of Callaway Chrome Soft recently, which I'll be testing in the simulator and hopefully on course as long as the weather holds up where I live. The golf season is almost over 😞I will check out some reviews of that other Callaway you mentioned and also the Q Star. I love having the stopping power on greens with the current balls I play but it's when I'm using driver that I can sometimes get into trouble. I'm also goint to check out some of the two piece balls you recommended on one of your videos. They will be useful at the beginning and end of the season when the weather is cold and wet. Looking forward to your next video!

Showing smash factor would increase confidence in the testing. I just can’t get over their logo, nothing screams generic more than that IMO
I played a round with the ERC soft today and absolutely loved it. Got great distance off the tee and also felt great

MGS tested it as shorter off the driver. I’m 80 YOA but I game this ball when my parkland style course is cold and wet. It loses less performance in the cold and the higher flight off Driver gives me back some of the yardage I lose through no roll. Test this ball when the temp is in the 40’s and 50’s F against the OEM and you will find a different story. Great ball in “off” weather.

What would you recommend as a cheap forgiving ball for a high handicap golfer

Wilson Zip, Cut Red, and the current Snell Get sum are all great starting points. Free shipping with Snell until the end of November just a heads up.

I had better results with the Elixr, probably from being a slower swinger. Will you be doing an updated review on it, as well?

Absolutely. I intended for the elixir to be before this one, but I goofed and forgot to shoot the green footage. So it should be next

I want to try this ball but it's just too expensive for a DTC company and there are so few on the second hand market I can barely find them and when I do, they're still too expensive.

Yeah I agree. Numbers just don't impress me enough to justify the headaches

Thanks for the review! It’s a shame about the driver numbers

I’m a high handicap beginner player but have a 95-100 driver swing speed. I have trouble keeping the ball on the fairway as I work on my swing. So, I lose a few balls every round. What should I be looking for in a ball?

    • @GolfBallAddict

When you have trouble losing golf balls, I always tell people to go with a forgiving two-piece model. Losing strokes by going out of bounds is a killer. You can shave 5 to 10 strokes off of your game by simply staying between the penalty markers. Having a faster swing speed like that, you'll want to look for a firmer two-piece golf ball. You'll get way more forgiveness on mis hits, more distance, and straighter shots. Your green side check up will go down a little bit, but not as much as you might think. The technology is advanced quite a bit

Thank you! I did a search and found that the Titleist Velocity is a firmer two piece. I’ll be giving that a try. Thanks so much!

So difficult to comment on this ball. With the irons it performs better than it should do for the average swing speed yet on the driver it doesn't perform as you would think. Obviously not a bad ball but when you total things up, you have tested balls doing the same or better at a lower price.

Agreed 100% John. Appreciate you as always brother. 😃

Wanted to like this ball but launched too high and wound up losing distance with each club. Went from 147 mph ball speed with the driver down to 136 to 137. Switched back to my normal ball right back to normal ball speed. Would not recommend.

In my opinion, the X2 is light years better.
