I love the subtle changes throughout the film, like how his tie changed to a different, more creative pattern, and how the colors in the office were gray and dark, when the spaceship was filled with color
There are so many things about this short movie that I love: -The fact that the main character doesn't speak yet we all /get/ him; -The music. The electronic, ugly music that's in the office. The morning music. And, of course, the triumphant, whimsical melody playing at the end -The mornings/nights. While PJ nicely acts out what the character is feeling, the mornings/nights certainly build the anticipation in a way that a time crunch and silence wouldn't otherwise allow. From what starts as a dull morning routine, immediately starts to change, making us sense that something's about to happen as he gets more alive and excited and begins working on his mysterious invention; -Super gluing a circuit board; -"Fuel" "Soup"; -The paper airplane. Just. Ugh, that moment; -The final scene. Seriously, I almost cried while rewatching this bc that sense of freedom and joy in the end is just so beautiful. Finally, he gets to be free. Well done, PJ. Well done. 👏👏
I feel like every time I watch PJ, especially in short films like this one, that I'm motivated to create and start projects or finish WIPs. It's nice to find motivation in the least likely places.
+TheGlassesPredicament i am actually using him as an influence for my college final major project. I'm working on experimental work and contemporary art so it's a pretty cool start point xD
okay, not gonna lie - the main reason this is my favourite short film of yours is the aesthetic. i'm being completely serious - that outfit (braces and button-up), that slightly-vintage suitcase, the filters - i'm all about that. and i love the use of colour - grey and dull colours for the office space, bright and warm colours for the planning process and the rocketship. but i think mostly it's the office theme - i love the idea of escaping the stifling atmosphere of office cubicles. it's symbolic of breaking away from mundane routine and chasing one's dreams, and that's something i personally relate to.
Am I the only one who thinks there's some sort of metaphor behind the fact that 'Mister Jones' doesn't talk throughout the entire video? I don't know what, but maybe something in a sense of 'the quietest people have the loudest minds' or something like that.
I seriously don't understand how more people don't watch your videos. You are so creative and funny and unique! I wish I was as creative as you are. Your films and ideas can make me smile any time because you sir, Pj, are amazing
scarlett branton Sometimes it takes a while for people to recognize great art. For example, a lot of amazing painters were dirt poor in their times because no one would buy their art and now their work is priceless.
This is absolutely beautiful. The great thing about this short film is not only the fact that the storyline and cinematography are both brilliant, but also that it is so inspiring. This film makes me believe I can do anything I want, even if right now, I'm stuck in a place I don't want to be. Thank you for sharing this.
After some years of not watching PJ...I’m so glad I’ve come back, the videos he made really made me love learning new skills. This man made my childhood and who I am today. He has truly given me the inspiration to create and love creating to this day. He’s taught me to be full of wonder, adventurous, wacky, and to be myself. Rewatching his videos made me feel such nostalgia, a need create again like I did as a kid...wholeheartedly and with joy. PJ, if you are reading this, please know that you make more of an impact than you may think...I cannot thank you enough for the memories these videos have given me and the overall joy I had watching them then and now. Your mind is a breath of fresh air, beautiful, and filled with creativity no other person has shared with the world. Thank you. -A
Wow! I thought PJ was just some vlogger only yesterday, just like Dan and Phil. But then I finished reading a Phanfic called "human" and PJ was described as much more then a Vlogger. So I looked for that one video called " forever train" and now I've seen worlds I could not have even imagined! PJ is an inspiration to me now and any time I need inspiration I'll come to his channel :) thnx M8 4 being so g8!
I've watched this video so many times. It's my favorite KickThePj shortfilm. Just the aesthetic, the detailing, the score, the nonverbal storytelling. I can't get bored of it, I find new things every time I watch and I love it. :)
I watched this when I was younger, and I loved the whimsy and creativity. Now I’m an adult with a job, and now I get not only the beginning, but feel even stronger about the whimsy.
I've been working in an office for an entreprise for 8 months, and I couldn't help noticing how offices are in fact depriving us of our basic human traits. I've seen people go ill or mentally damaged after spending way too much time in there. It just consumes you and your life. Ever since I saw this, I am even more certain. There's not a day I don't hear myself thinking, 'In an office, no one can hear you dream.' Because after a while nothing remains of the person, nothing else. Thank you, PJ.
I'm watching this only seckond time and I'm crying from happines..I'm not "moved" but I'm just so amazingly happy...he's channel is like a whole new world. God I'm so happy. He's creativity is my life now. So happy I get here.
You are so cutee!!! But more importantly, A CREATIVE GENIUS!!!!! Not only on this but every video you make is a work of art, and I can really see the work you put into them. Thanks for being what youtube is supposed to be!:)
I love the feel of this film, the subdued colors of the office v. the ending have such a sweet contrast and the wonder/makeshiftness of the rocket reminds me of a childrens toy, almost like it was the adult fulfilling a childhood dream of his. The acting was really nice >u< ((A+ for suspender's too dear lord))
} This is my favourite of your short films PJ! I love the aesthtic {i cant spell} of the film and the meaning. You basically described my school life {i'm in year 9}. I vintage feel is amazing and just arghhh. I love it.
Ts weird how you can perceive this as a man who has such a terrible life, his only escape is his imagination. When he enters the rocket, it's like he's leaving life for his imagination ie suicide. Sorry for the grim thought
EVEN THE TIE IS DIFFERENT 2:02 Every time I watch this, I see a new little detail I didnt notice before that makes this video 1000 times more amazingly perfect
3:38 Hey that's the forever Train suitcase... Probably just a prop but.. What if... Their connected somehow... It wasn't the office bag he used... But what if... What if... What if he built the train after he landed on an planet/ parell universe and left the suitcase somewhere by mistake... Leaving the character Chris played to pick it up, and thats why Pj let him stay on...
It means so much. It depicts a man who hates his job... doing the same thing everyday when he knows that there's so much more out there. So he decides to do something about it and escape from the world that he felt didn't suit him. A world unknown for him to live blissfully. It's an concrete idea portrayed abstractly. And that's something people love because it's not easy to do.
Every time I feel bad regarding my job I come here and rewatch this short. It makes me remember of my other projects and makes me feel calm. Thank you, PJ

Well done, PJ. Well done. 👏👏
Also, the suspenders. The purest symbol of greatness. And the fact that he has a spaceship that’s bigger on the inside. I love PJ.
I am the Cat Human everybody loves PJ. And yes, suspenders are hot too.
Can we talk about the fact that there's a meter to tell you when soup supply is running low
It's necessary for space travel! Of course! don't you know anything about science?
MORE LIKE SLURP SUPPLY
He is so bloody creative, it makes me jealous.
I can't handle this.
HONESTLY PJ IS WORLD CLASS MATERIAL WHY IS HE SO UNDERRATED IT FRUSTRATES ME.

I feel like every time I watch PJ, especially in short films like this one, that I'm motivated to create and start projects or finish WIPs. It's nice to find motivation in the least likely places.
Me too :)
+TheGlassesPredicament I feel like this too, just today I drew for the first time in a long time, and it's all down to PJ's creativity. :-)
+TheGlassesPredicament i am actually using him as an influence for my college final major project. I'm working on experimental work and contemporary art so it's a pretty cool start point xD
i’m currently watching pj to help jumpstart my creativity for a short film i’m making (“: bless

Yes! I totally agree with this!

Am I the only one who thinks there's some sort of metaphor behind the fact that 'Mister Jones' doesn't talk throughout the entire video? I don't know what, but maybe something in a sense of 'the quietest people have the loudest minds' or something like that.
Did anyone notice he had the same suitcase from Forever Train?
The feels
"In an office, no one can hear you dream." -from the description, in case anyone missed it because it's beautiful and needs to be heard by the world
I seriously don't understand how more people don't watch your videos.
You would be an AMAZING Doctor
+Marshae Kirkpatrick YES YES
YES YES YES YES
Please omg now I'll be forever sad that he isn't
yesssssssssss
+Paper Marshae oh my god he would
One thing I truly admire about PJ is the fact that he has the imagination of a child and doesn't let maturing get in the way of doing what he loves.
No words yet we still understand. That's the magic of communication.
Okay but this is actually an amazing short film
the sound design
the cinematography
the editing
it's just
absolute top notch
I love the little Wallace and Gromit references :D very neat and little Easter eggs for British viewers :3
I was just about to say this.
Who said us Americans don't watch Wallace and Gromit?
Riley Hambrick ikr, I'm American and love Wallace and Gromit thank you
It's funny little stop animation, isn't it? I love the style they use for the characters. I love the moon one.
I'm French and we do have Wallace & Gromit in France too :D
So apparently I wasn't the only one to see W & G references ^_^
Your short films are both powerful and brilliant. I really admire your creativity.
I love that he made an entire spaceship out of cardboard for less than two minutes of video. That's the kind of person I want to be.
This is absolutely beautiful. The great thing about this short film is not only the fact that the storyline and cinematography are both brilliant, but also that it is so inspiring. This film makes me believe I can do anything I want, even if right now, I'm stuck in a place I don't want to be. Thank you for sharing this.
You could say, he needed some... Space.
Accident Prone *_ba dum tiss_*

+Tamara Ramirez can I move in with u then
Sure! We can be roommates!
Count me in guys!
Don't only is this entire video incredible in every way, but there was also a Wallace and Gromit reference. I approve 120% of this short film.
Agreed
WAIT YOU LIKE WALLACE AND GROMIT TOO?? (Sorry I must be annoying you with my constant stalking 😂)
+Kayla Reeves yes! And no no, it's fine, stalk as much as you want 😂
All of these are so calming, even if they're not supposed to be. I love them all.
This is the reason I love PJ. His imagination and creativity is outstanding.
I wish we could all give him the chance to go to space...like for real. It's seems to me that that is his biggest wish.
its so awesome how much work you put in these short films. i cant pinpoint it but they all have something special...
That is amazing I could never imagine pj having a office job
Daisy Mac the idea is an abhomination.
it’s so crazy how impactful these films were on me. that as soon as it started, i remembered everything. it’s still just so good.
PJ FOR NEW DOCTOR IN DOCTOR WHO!! PEEJ PEEJ PEEJ!!!
The first time I saw this I didn't quite understand it, but now I see it's for me to decide the meaning. I'm almot in tears, this is beautiful.
After some years of not watching PJ...I’m so glad I’ve come back, the videos he made really made me love learning new skills. This man made my childhood and who I am today. So far, this is my favorite one out of all of your short films. :)
OMG WALLACE AND GROMIT REFERENCE!!!
THIS REMINDS ME SO MUCH OF WALLACE AND GROMIT. I grew up watching those movies ♡
This is just extraordinary.
Did PJ just combine one of his nightmares with one of his dreams?
Wow! I thought PJ was just some vlogger only yesterday, just like Dan and Phil. But then I finished reading a Phanfic called "human" and PJ was described as much more then a Vlogger. So I looked for that one video called " forever train" and now I've seen worlds I could not have even imagined! PJ inspired paper man :O
i was just thinking that...
the score to this is beautiful
I've watched this video so many times. It's my favorite KickThePj shortfilm. Just the aesthetic, the detailing, the score, the nonverbal storytelling. I can't get bored of it, I find new things every time I watch and I love it. :)
Wow , this just improved my mood by 100%
I feel like the boss guy's voice sound a bit like dan. just a bit
I thought I was the only one 😂
OMG I WAS THINKING THAT TOO
like a less sarcastic tone
He doses!! I just noticed that lol. His voice is a little deeper than Dan's,but he dose.
WOW I just rewatched it and realized that, except I think Dans is a bit more deep, and something
2:33 that cinematography, Jamie. Fantastic.
There is a certain childlike innocence to this film, while being something every adult can relate to. Beautiful work, amazing story. Keep it up!
I saw a Disney commercial and it had Paperman in it, so I watched Paperman and then I realized it reminds me a lot of this.
I keep coming back to this film, absolutely brilliant!
The boss sounds like Dan
I thought that the entire time
I wasn't looking at the video and I heard Dan's voice and I went bach to rewatch it....I was disappointed when I saw it wasn't Dan. Haha
same
it does actually wiw
I think they did a voice over
The message in this gives me chills and i think I found my role model HERES TO THE CREATIVE SIDE OF HUMANITY!
I love the way u turn ur alarm clock off differently each time, the attention to detail is beautiful, I love ur work!
I seriously love your cinematography
Watching your videos really inspires me. I don't know what it inspires me to do, but it inspires me.
Your creativity never ceases to amaze me
PJ, you and your crew are truly talented! Keep doing what you do, sir!
just get a dog and it will be Wallace and grommet
This is amazing.... Just imagine how awesome it would be if PJ made a whole movie one day, not just short films!!
PJ short films/videos marathon at 2 am :)
Anybody getting strong Paper Man vibes here?! I can't be the only one!
I watched this when I was younger, and I loved the whimsy and creativity. Now I’m an adult with a job, and now I get not only the beginning, but feel even stronger about the whimsy.
I'd love you to be the next Doctor :) You'd be amazing
gahhhh the w&g nostalgia~~~

I sometimes forget this all on TH-cam....
"Jones" is me in an office space xD
I'm sorry if this is weird but what is your sexuality? I think I saw you somewhere (in a different video)
You don't just ask strangers about their sexuality on the internet...
+Kilimandzsáró Lakatos
you had the opportunity and you blew it...
Spin What should have I said? :D
Kilimandzsáró Lakatos
Have you watched mean girls?
I'm watching this only seckond time and I'm crying from happines..I'm not "moved" but I'm just so amazingly happy...he's channel is like a whole new world. God I'm so happy. He's creativity is my life now. So happy I get here.
Wow, i love this so much. You deserve your short movies to be like at the beginning of movies. Never stop creating please. ^~^
You are so cutee!!! But more importantly, A CREATIVE GENIUS!!!!! Not only on this but every video you make is a work of art, and I can really see the work you put into them. Thanks for being what youtube is supposed to be!:)

Cracking film, Gromit!
I only started watching pj a few days ago, but i already love him and his talented personality
reminds me of that Wallace and Gromit episode
We forgot the crackers!
I just noticed that his tie changed on the third time he went to work
And that he packed his alarm clock
i hold this video very near and dear to my heart, as i feel it describes me and its just beautiful and makes me incredibly happy
In an office, no one can hear you dream.
} This is my favourite of your short films PJ! I love the aesthtic {i cant spell} of the film and the meaning. You basically described my school life {i'm in year 9}. I vintage feel is amazing and just arghhh. I love it.
I want to remove this from my memory so I can watch it for the first time again. And again. And again.
Because in an office space, no one can hear you dream
Ts weird how you can perceive this as a man who has such a terrible life, his only escape is his imagination. When he enters the rocket, it's like he's leaving life for his imagination ie suicide. Sorry for the grim thought
The Kilby I prefer to see it as a continuation of the British Space Exploration Programme as started by Wallace and Grommit.
Its minute details like the lights under the rocket as it takes off that make this video beautiful
The tie rip tho XD
This feels like it was inspired by wallace and gromit
EVEN THE TIE IS DIFFERENT 2:02 Every time I watch this, I see a new little detail I didnt notice before that makes this video 1000 times more amazingly perfect

Hey that's the forever Train suitcase...
Did anyone else notice the fuel and soup monitor?
It means so much. It depicts a man who hates his job... doing the same thing everyday when he knows that there's so much more out there. -im sorry but he looks really good in this and i just really wanted to say that-
PJ has built TARDIS, he is fucking doctor 😂
Every time I feel bad regarding my job I come here and rewatch this short. It makes me remember of my other projects and makes me feel calm. Thank you, PJ
Does this video remind anyone else of the game "Every Day The Same Dream"?
well I guess we know what's in that suitcase, eh mate?
The music in this was so beautiful, I can practically hear the hard work you put into choosing/editing it.
Who else kinda squealed at 3:00
