Great video! I hate to be that guy..but I think it's important to give people the correct info. Technically, you were in Prima or Business Class, correct. Italo's First Class is Club Executive Class. Trenitalia's first class is called the Executive class. That carriage comes with a Butler service! I've ridden on both. I wouldn't call those seats cheap!! Business Class is nice, though!

Fair point, I guess it was first class in the general sense of being an upgrade. Butler service…? Didn’t see that option

@@TravelsWithCharlie Oh Yes. Not really an option...but their normal service in First Class on Trenitalia's Executive class. The servers give you the full white glove service!

White gloves? Have to go back, do a longer journey 🤔

Used Freccia Rossa last year in Italy, most trips were short 2-3 hrs max so business class was perfectly fine, I actually booked the Salottino on those short trips with my family which are a private business class (a few bucks more then regural business class) for four people but when we went from Milan to Paris I booked the excutive class which was only $140 per person which was a bargain for a 7 hr ride and yes the service was incredible, full recline seats (only 8 seats in the whole cabin)and its all you can eat from the menu (Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner).

Great video, thanks for sharing. Was there a place to put large suitcases on either train. Will be traveling with at least one large suitcase and will need to have space to store it.

I think there was space, sometimes between the seats where they were back to backs

The comparison is not compleately correct because Frecciarossa has another, higher, level: executive; a level that is pure luxury (and definitely expensive). In my opinion Frecciarossa is far better; Italo, in the pre-pandemic period, was extremely cheap; once I travelled between Torino and Verona with 9,99 Euros; nowadays fees are almost the same.

Yes someone else pointed this out. And we are back in Italy this summer and I noticed Trenitalia is cheaper than Italo, so we will travel with them!

Yes, mad trip around Europe so it was just a day here and a day there. Not ideal but we saw a lot. I’m sure you’ll discover a lot of Venice

Both were pretty good - fast, on time, comfy. What more do you need?

Do both lines serve Venice to Ravenna? Going to Venice a few days before a cruise out of Ravenna. How much time should be given between transfers?

Sorry, don’t know about trains to Ravenna. I think the high speed trains we caught just go on from Bologna to Florence. Ravenna looks off the normal route but I’m no expert

Can you choose the seat on Italo? Why I couldn’t? website says seat assigned automatically

Hi - I can't now remember if I was able to choose seats or was just given good ones. We had good seats, but we did also travel Prima and maybe the seat layout is better? Their website suggests you can choose seats when buying, otherwise you have to call afterwards. Sorry I can't help more than that, have a good trip though

Hi. Yes you can choose you seat. On the checkout page, at the top right side, it will say "choose your seat" or "seat selection". It's hidden, but it's there!
