My daughter was on this for 7 years of her life. The side effects gradually crept up and things turned ugly in the 5th grade. She acted just like this little boy. Lost all her friends, cried daily, had uncontrollable tantrum-like behavior full of screaming for hours at a time. I'm convinced it made her asthma worse because it increased her anxiety, which in turn, increased her asthma symptoms. After her confiding in me about hearing voices in her head, I desperately searched the internet for answers. Found the Facebook group that they discuss in the video and was shocked to see all her issues lined up with the side effects many other kids had. I was so upset about it I immediately quit giving her the drug (we had other asthma medications for backup). She said she felt better for a few days but then the side effects came raging back FAR worse than before, and lasted 2 full months. Every single day she would rage, cry for hours, threaten us, talk about wanting to die, etc. This at TEN YEARS OLD. Took her to therapy and my parenting came into question... just assumed I was the problem because they had never heard of Singulair causing problems, and that I shouldn't google things. After therapist told me to be more tough on her, I walked out. My child needed help, not punishment. After her 2 months of withdrawals, she did a complete turnaround and became a social, bubbly, HAPPY child that enjoyed life again. We told her allergist and they literally got ANNOYED with me and told me not to come back into their office. They refused to believe it was the medication they prescribed that affected her. Thankfully her pediatrician looked at what happened and agreed that it was Singulair that caused all the problems. We are 4 years out from that nightmare now and she is doing amazing. She outgrew most of her asthma issues (which were minor from the beginning, yet they kept insisting on piling drugs on her) and only needs inhalers if she gets an illness. She excels at school, is active and involved in extracurriculars, and is self-motivated to achieve. She is always chatty and bubbly, talking to her friends, and we have no issues with her behavior, other than totally typical teen stuff like having to remind her to do the dishes LOL. Remember you are your own best advocate and your child's best advocate. If something seems off, use your instincts and research it and do what you need to do to get yourself or your child the help they need.
I just started taking it and after 3 days in a row have been having some of the most bizarre stressful nightmares of my life. It’s true my severe allergies magically have greatly improved and my sense of smell I thought I’d lost came back. But I can’t sleep. And as someone with chronic depression and post traumatic issues I don’t know why my doctor would even prescribe me this to begin with. It makes you wonder wtf it’s doing to your brain, like what chemicals are in this mess?
The fact they didn't remove this from being sold and it was just prescribed to my 5 year old today. I was just told today suicide was a side effect, but it has never happen...well as we see this is a bold face lie.

Thank you for airing this story! So many families have been adversely affected by this drug. Heartbreaking for these families!
