Gonna play a couple smaller hacks first but I actually have the hardest hack series I have ever played coming up after Akogore and Sheffy 1...It’s called Sheffy 2 search for the shells. It’s crazy. Poo, I occasionally watch you play through romhacks and I decided to watch you through this one and.... My goodness. You should feel honored to have this romhack named after you. The game design in this is absolutely incredible. The puzzles almost make me wish that Barb was a developer for the Zelda series. This is his magnum opus. Its the greatest romhack I've ever seen and its named after you. It may be one of the greatest games ever made.
Awesome watching the runs on twitch atm. Glad you decided fo save yoshi at the end. We all know how much it means to you to not let a yoshi be injured.

Barb clearly has level design down, he really needs to get into making a video game that he can make money off of imo, i'd buy the crap out of it! amazing work from both Barb and Poo for finishing the craziest hack of all time
It would be amazing to have a really hard comercialized platforming games. The ones that exists today are too easy for anyone that plays kaizo romhacks

I agree they aren't as hard as some kaizo hacks but making a commercial game as hard as that does not make any sense, you can't cater to the insanely small minority who would be able to beat it. Hoping for some more platformers with optional really difficulty stuff though!
I agree jylounyn, these games are great for a small niche of gamers, and for us few who enjoy watching them play the kaizos...but what I wanna see is, can barb create a game that I can play with my kid, just like smw, but more kaizo ish, and more suited towards the average game player.
This probably took around 750~1000 hours to make. That would need at least that many sales~double that to begin to be worth making. And that's not counting all the 1000s of hours that went into mario originally and lunar magic.

Also, for the B A R B Select A X Y puzzle. The whole point you played that Luigi level was to find the secret that hides in the screenshots. You found the secret, so you went back to use it in the one level that was incomplete called Orbliette that had an orb pedestal with no orb
Yeah, I thought the whole "this music is familiar" angle was a but if a stretch when the level you played before that didn't have an exit and had a random pedestal lol. It felt obvious that it was a code that either had to be input from the start screen or in that level
With crazy unexpected puzzles it's always better to use many vague or indirect hints rather than one big one. There are always players, even really smart players, who have a brain fart and miss the obvious.
I think all the other streamers have been holding off too, I've been watching pretty much only this game and *nobody* mentioned this stuff despite clearing the game
I don't know if this has been pointed out, but I have been re watching all of the grand poo world series after finishing 3 and think I found a pretty awesome easter egg from this video! The song that plays during your 1 shot clear at the end is the same one as in the Grand Poo World 3 credits. Maybe it is a coincidence, but I feel like it can't be! Thank you, Poo... and Barb, if you happen upon this comment for the years of entertainment.

I know with all likeliness this will be lost in a sea of comments, but I cant help myself from trying to say this to you Poo. I found myself at a very low point in my life, and on the day i was ready to give up on myself, my dreams, i decided i'd just sit down and binge watch something new, that happened to be this series, and your channel for the first time, on the day its finale would release. It was fortunate for me, because i found myself so enthralled in this adventure, Your genuine love of this game really rubbed off on me, and it sorta helped me forget about my problems for a while. Watching your playthrough helped me in a few ways, like remembering why i do what i love, and how challenges, no matter how hard, can be overcome. It also opened my eyes to the potential joys of Kaizo, which i'd always written off as being "difficult for difficulty's sake". So with that, i wanna thank you, weather or not you intended to, you helped me through a tough time. And I wanna thank you again, because now i have a burning desire to join the Kaizo Mario world community. I'm not sure where to start right now, but ill do some research on a good first Kaizo game. My 10 year old son and I finished this yesterday! What an awesome game!! My son is on the spectrum and struggles when things done come easy for him, so we really enjoy your videos and positive outlook even when games are incredibly hard. You both give encouragement and entertainment for my family.

well that was a good clean fight, it looked like it might go to the cards for a minute, with barb landing over 5000 blows, and throwing in a few sneak attacks, but poo refused to go down, and came back for the ko victory in the 17th round, we'll go to the tape for the official numbers

After watching Barb make this game for hundreds of hours, I'm sad that the creation and initial playthroughs are over. I'll always enjoy watching speedruns of it, but damn, the last 8 months were magic.
I come back to these runs and Barb's compilation videos a few times a year. I'm not a Kaizo player and never will be, but I love watching it. There's clearly something really special about GPW2. Everything about it is just so well crafted and it really stands out amongst Kaizo games as the complete package. I'd put Invictus in there too but the way GPW2 ties everything together pushes it over the edge.
This was really a joy to watch y'all play through. Barb really outdid himself and the final game is so much more than I'd have ever guessed from the streams I saw of him making it. The Metroid escape at the end with the kill/save the Yoshi bit was just a great cherry on top and you can see little bits of influence (or it seems to me) from a lot of the classics throughout this, with a Mario World lens. That Bowser even had some shades of DKC Tropical Freeze. An absolute tour de force.
Watched it on stream and watched it here on YT again. It's indeed a really good game and was fun to watch. I might even say 'it's the best romhack I've ever watched' :) I wish a game this quality would be released and played by Poo every week. @Exodus: Great editing, as always. I really love and appreciate your editing style (the 'show each trick 2-3 times, then cut over it' thing). The music in this hack, from Snowboard Kids, to The Thing, to Cybernator was off the chain. The hidden puzzles were fantastic. The levels challenged you in ways very unique. Holy cow, the lore was rich, giving an epic continuity. Charging Chuck Norris was a brilliant boss, Bowser was fierce, the King Boos got creative, and Barb has totally reinvented the idea of a kaizo hack. I would say the Blue Switch was perhaps one puzzle too many with the hexadecimal stuff, but then again, I'm only here to watch, not play. Kudos Barb, and kudos those who completed GPW2 and unraveled its mysteries. It is a journey I've loved. The Orbliette with its creepy atmosphere really makes me wonder though if Barb could someday have a crack at a horror mario with a real sinister atmosphere

Poo has matured in Fatherhood age, saving the Yoshi, letting him eat the mushroom. He didn't die, he just went got a swim. Great hack, super fun watching - love all the rom hack series but this was definitely the best. Thanks for the entertainment TH-cam Poo.

This wasn't just a romhack. It was a fucking work of art. Holy shit. I thought nothing could ever top Invictus but I was so, so wrong. This game is a masterpiece, and the absolute magnum opus of SMW romhacking. Barb, and everyone else who worked on this hack, should be proud of themselves for such a fucking legendary title.
This is an incredible hack and to see you play and enjoy this makes it even better. The group of people involved in making all this happen is really special. So many great individuals but also teaming up to make something great. To create such an experience out of a 'simple' game is mind-blowing.

Absolutely amazing hack and great ending. This has been a great series, and I'm excited to see more hacks like this come out in the future. Also, nice job saving Yoshi at the end with that death counter animation, probably the best possible RNG you could ever have had.

I come back to these runs and Barb's compilation videos a few times a year. I'm not a Kaizo player and never will be, but I love watching it. There's clearly something really special about GPW2. Everything about it is just so well crafted and it really stands out amongst Kaizo games as the complete package. I'd put Invictus in there too but the way GPW2 ties everything together pushes it over the edge.

This was really a joy to watch y'all play through. Barb really outdid himself and the final game is so much more than I'd have ever guessed from the streams I saw of him making it. The Metroid escape at the end with the kill/save the Yoshi bit was just a great cherry on top and you can see little bits of influence (or it seems to me) from a lot of the classics throughout this, with a Mario World lens. That Bowser even had some shades of DKC Tropical Freeze. An absolute tour de force.

The music in the bowser fight is epic. Every attempted run Poo gets to the end and the music gets me pumped.

The music in this hack, from Snowboard Kids, to The Thing, to Cybernator was off the chain. The hidden puzzles were fantastic. The levels challenged you in ways very unique. Holy cow, the lore was rich, giving an epic continuity. Charging Chuck Norris was a brilliant boss, Bowser was fierce, the King Boos got creative, and Barb has totally reinvented the idea of a kaizo hack. I would say the Blue Switch was perhaps one puzzle too many with the hexadecimal stuff, but then again, I'm only here to watch, not play. Kudos Barb, and kudos those who completed GPW2 and unraveled its mysteries. It is a journey I've loved. The Orbliette with its creepy atmosphere really makes me wonder though if Barb could someday have a crack at a horror mario with a real sinister atmosphere

I think it's safe to say our lives have been made considerably better by this Romhack. We all owe Barb a great deal of gratitude! Stunning from start to end. The lore, the puzzles, the platforming, the gameplay, the trolls, the aesthetics are all spot on! Romhacks have been going to new levels in the last year, but this one hits it out of the park! Thank you Barb and thank you Poo for these brilliant videos on it.
A rom-hack where you play as bowser would be cool. Then have Mario be the final boss.

This wasn't just a romhack. It was a fucking work of art. Holy shit. I thought nothing could ever top Invictus but I was so, so wrong. This game is a masterpiece, and the absolute magnum opus of SMW romhacking. Barb, and everyone else who worked on this hack, should be proud of themselves for such a fucking legendary title.

This is an incredible hack and to see you play and enjoy this makes it even better. The group of people involved in making all this happen is really special. So many great individuals but also teaming up to make something great. To create such an experience out of a 'simple' game is mind-blowing.

I just want to say thank you so much to Barb for making this beyond incredible game. It starts off as just a regular rom hack but becomes so much more. Seeing the puzzle unfold was truly one of the greatest things I’ve ever witnessed in a video game before. I also want to thank Grandpoobear for playing through this. This rom hack is definitely beyond my skill lvl rn but thanks to you Poo I was able to enjoy it in its entirety alongside one of my favorite streamers/youtubers. Words just can’t describe how I feel at the end of this right now, I never thought that a Mario rom hack could ever be this good but Barb proved me wrong there and and I’m so glad he did. Thank you again, Poo, Barb, and everyone watching, for everything. This is an experience I will never forget.
