💚“It begs the question, how can you win an award for Plant of the Year if the scale is not yet there, and you’re not yet an expert at growing this plant? And, you also weren’t the one to create it?” This says it all, and baffles me. Excellent research Chris. Very interesting history behind the cultivation, and spread of this plant. Can’t imagine calling it a “Cheesecake Monstera”!

I always thought that the thai constellation came from a tissue culture batch of monstera around 2018, not that it had existed many years ago, and was a natural mutation. The amount of research you did to find this out is amazing!

I know thai constellation has root rot issues, but i got one anyways as a TC recently. Its in perlite, orchid bark, pumice, and some regular soil, its even more free draining than what i mix for all my cactus. Once it matures enough to transplant from my dinky plastic cup, its also gonna be set in a terracotta planter to really add a preventative measure.
So far ive got 1 new leaf with no problems, but only time will tell if it makes it.

What Costa Farms did was a great idea, badly executed. Bringing these absurd prices down so everybody can have one, while still making a ton of money on it seems like a win/ win. It just baffles me that they announced everything before they even knew if they could do it, keeping hopes and expectations sky high.

Almost all pushed out new growth almost immediately after potting! Hands down all around best nursery online for the right price. So I have been seeing a bunch of Thai babies lately. I got my large Thai right before the "plant-demic" from someone who bought an enormous one, chopped it up to sell as cuttings, and basically discarded the base and root structure (I got the base, and root structure, and it is awesome!). Lately, I have been feeling a little, down on the plant since I have started to see them in big box stores for 80-100, and more and more at farmers markets.. but... :-D after watching this, I am happier now. :-D

I have seen many many people who have the none tissue cultured plants and a tissue cultured plant say there is a huge difference. The none tussue grows with less internodal spacing, doesn't have root rot issues for them, and grows faster. The tissue cultured are the opposite. It seems like for whatever reason that specific plant doesn't do will tissue cultured, or at least not the exact way people have been doing it. (I am only talking about Tai Constalation. Most plants seem to be perfectly fine tissue cultured.)
