Some interesting budget knives I've come across not long ago is hmong knives from hmong knife market, there kinda like a Asian bowie knife for around 30 to 50 bucks
I really wanted ro like that Cold Steel knife but the steel on mine was just to soft . I think they should have used the Aus 8 that their other budget blades have. Maybe mine was a bad egg cause it couldnt hold up to basic carving and notching. I love the Mora Companion HD I also like their smaller HQ Robust with the black and grey grip. Those blades are really tough and make cool project blades for wood handle mods. I also like using the Hultifors Heavy Duty blades for making wood handle puukkos. That SK5 Steel has an excellent heat treatment.
@workbenchknifeandtool Mine was from the first batch on release maybe it was a bad one then. I still hate that sheath, ya almost can't get the knife out when it's new out of box. I don't know why they haven't fixed it after all this time?
I would probably put a short lanyard on the Cold steel Finn Hawk Handle to help taking it out of the sheath.
@@1-0-8 good idea!

Cedric and ada rated 4116 among 12c27 and 8cr13mov. Its good stuff, popular among german hunting knives.
4116 as it is heat treated by Cold Steel performs quite well.

Interesting. My Finn Hawk holds an edge pretty well. I agree, the Moras are hard to beat. Yes, SK5 is a decent knife steel, it holds up well.

I found the Martini handle to be very uncomfortable. Not designed well.
Interesting. I found just the opposite. Everybody is different.
