I live in Kyiv. The BPS factory is located 20 minutes away from my home. It's their family business, and they are really cool. In BPS Adventure, there is an upgraded version called BPS Nighthawk. It is made of stainless steel, which is better for cooking, and has handles with oak overlays.
I have just got this knife and i have to say you get a lot of knife for what you pay, it is a great addition to my kit and I can not say enough good things about this one it is a great all round knife,
I just received mine. Ordered it from the company. They have a website in English. Took only 2 weeks even coming from Ukraine. For an extra 5$ I had my name engraved on the blade. Paid 50$ and absolutely love it. I don't mind supporting a Ukrainian business either.
The “sharpening choil” is there so you can sharpen the blade right up to the heel of the blade without accidentally hitting the heel portion with the stone or grinder. Without it, you can’t sharpen right to the trailing edge. Trust me, I’ve tried and ended up nicking the heel portion on some of my knives that don’t have a sharpening choil.
I'm happy with my BPS. You will need a good compact sharpening stone for bushcraft use because it needs some attention in the field with regular use. Easy to do and reflective of the low cost, but a good balance of blade thickness and the scandy grind for carving to cooking. Good buy for me
Moras fit well in the sheath as well .I got an adventurer and an hsk1, which is a small knife about the size of a mora .I use it as a neck knife 🔪. God bless you and your family. Lee
Great review, I just got one of these Adventurers yesterday after another great review. Glad to have the knowledge of two experts with the same positive results!
Yeah dude, bought a BPS B1 to go with my LT Wright bushcrafter and the BPS is amazing. The workmanship is awesome especially for $35. You can tell these guys are proud of what they do.
Nice first impression and up to the point. This sharpening choil is there so you can reach the entire length of the blade with the sharpening stone but I agree it can snag on cordage.
On mine, removing the ferro rod was extremely difficult; holder much too tight. Used Lexol leather conditioner on the sheath and rod holder, used a drill bit reaming the ferro rod holder just a tad, put the rod in then again used Lexol leather conditioner on the rod holder all in the attempt to stretch it. It is now usable. Being as I am left-handed, when I put the sheath on my left side it is backwards. This knife was an excellent purchase, and I can highly recommend the BPS Adventure. Also, I looked at the Mora knifes, this BPS Adventure is much better and less expensive. Mora sheath is a plastic with drain holes at the tip, a good feature.
I actually won't use a scandi if it doesn't have a sharpening choil. I've chipped up some really nice sharpening stones scraping the base of the edge against stones.
Had a BPS adventurer a couple years now and it’s one of my favorite knives. I used your link and just now got my flat grind oden wolf in od green and live it bro. I’m gonna try to get out tomorrow and shoot some video content on it.
Liked it so much that I ended up buying the B1 CSH as well. Another really nice knife. The spine wasn’t as sharp as the Adventurer, but a little time spent with a stone and good to go. I think that the Adventurer is one of the best values out there, but the B1 has honestly become a “go to”. My first experience with 1066 (I’ve kinda become a bit of a steel snob, ie: CPM 3V spoiled me) and it seems like BPS does a good job with it!👍🏻
@@jeepsalt I haven’t noticed any cons. Holds an edge pretty well and responds nicely to stropping. It’s carbon steel, it will rust without oil, but no worse than 1095.
I’m really a fan of this knife. I bought mine about 2 1/2 years ago. I wasn’t sure about the 1066. I’ve found out it’s really a Russian spring steel more like our 5160. What I really love is the grind. This was probably the sharpest knife I’ve gotten in years if ever. I have a Mora Garberg in stainless. I really don’t see much difference in use, other then the stainless I use fishing more. I haven’t used the odenwolf enough to have a opinion except I don’t like how thin the point is.
Yeah I feel the same about the tip on my OW but so far it’s holding up. As far as the BPS, I’m really digging this knife, it’s just a really good knife at an incredible price point.
Grab these while you can from this company because at this price point I don't think they're gonna last. There will be $50 more before we know it. Don't miss out
Do you genuinely think 1066 is 66% carbon? Or 1095 is made up of 95% carbon? It wouldn’t even be steel at that point. 0.66% or 0.95% carbon is more like it. Also olive oil is one of the worst oils to use to protect the blade since it oxidizes very quickly, goes rancid, can mold and gets sticky if left for long enough (long enough for it to go rancid that is).
I've got 2 bps knives and have had them for several years. They are good knives, but I wish the ones I got came with a sharp spine. I filed mine flat to scrap with. That said I do not like the steel they use. 1066 was a mediocre knife steel 30 years ago. No reason to use it.
Ohhhhh 😮my guy is genius, all these years and you didn’t know about BPS knives, take your blanket and cover your self back 😂😂😂I think you are just a baby learning to walk, but you are taking waaay too big steps as for anyone else,,,BUY BPS KNIVES OR NOT I DON’T CARE,,instead of wasting 22 minutes of my life I can make a rocket 🚀 snatch an asteroid ☄️ mine it and sel, sell, sell, sell…. 😊😊😊. Just smell the leather sheaths,,,perfect smell 👃…
No offense, but there is nothing happy about Memorial Day. Veterans are honored on Veterans Day, active-duty military are honored on Armed Services Day. Only those who made the ultimate sacrifice are honored on Memorial Day.
I am a United States Marine Corps Veteran. I am well aware of what Veteran’s Day memorializes… Hence the reason why I said that ppl should take the time for a moment of silence for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Thanks for your .02¢
Only Veterans I will recognize is the ones who fought in WW2,,those who call themselves Veterans that were fighting proxy wars are not Veterans, when you fight the war on your soil against invading enemy then if you survive you are war Veteran..No Korea,no Nam,No Iraq,No Afghanistan,,piss off with your Veteran pride with ❤…And have a nice day…

Weird, I have a few Spydercos with no choil, I think it's just what you get used to using. Love my Spydercos 😊
One thing I don't like about choils is how plastic wrap gets stuck in the choil. Without one you always get a clean slice from the start.

the tissue paper is so if you cut yourself, you have something, many people are not used to getting a knife so sharp out of the box.

I have one and it’s a good serviceable knife. Price is right!
I acid ethed mine and made burlap micarta scales.
It looks so good IMO.
Thank you for your reviews they are great for your attention to detail and acknowledging that not all of us can afford some bushcraft knive products.
Thank you very much for that feedback, it make me feel great to know that folks are enjoying the content and finding it useful ✌️🇺🇸

Yeah it’s hard to beat this knife at the price.

Welcome aboard! SEMPER FI

Only thing I changed on my adventurer is I added jimping for improved grip when wet
Excellent review. Thank you.

What do you think of the 1066 so far? I'm used to 1095 but it really doesn't matter all that much. Still though, any cons to 1066 you've noticed?
@@jeepsalt I haven’t noticed any cons. Holds an edge pretty well and responds nicely to stropping. It’s carbon steel, it will rust without oil, but no worse than 1095.
Mine just came in today, very good first impression. Very sharp & a good weight to it.
I took a hair tie and use it to lock in the ferro rod
Ive have 3 BPS knives I love them I got mine when they first started being sold here in the states.
Great knives for the money. I’m very happy with it so far.
the 2 i carry the most are the BK06 and the savage
In Canada they're like 60 bucks but whatever freaking still an amazing deal like you're pointing out with the leather even just that
There is also a stainless-steel version, the "Nighthawk Adventurer"
lol chat gbt recommend this video 😂
Great video

@richardhenry1969 - Great comment about Soviet era 1066. ATB
Would it be worth it to drill a small hole through the sides of the bottom to allow some airflow?
You certainly could, perhaps at the bottom if nothing else.
Like you i do like a good sheath, most i get are the on the cheap side,
Love mine
1066 in 0.66 % carbon, not 66% carbon… if 1095 was 95% carbon, than it would be mostly ash
Great observations!!
I've got some carving tools from Ukraine, solid tools.
Great again man,,you may want to shorten up the intro a bit ,like the info though , good channel
Thanks for the constructive criticism, dually noted, thanks for watching ✌️🇺🇸
Great work!
Thanks, it is a great knife, really looking forward to continuing to use it, thanks for watching!

Also, no, 1066 is .66% carbon, and 1095 is .95% carbon.
It's called a sharpening choyl.
Yes, I have since making this video, learned this and been told be many others, thank you!

god why do people say "the" ukraine this isnt the soviet union anymore, and you werent even around for it anyway
