La Biblia tiene mucho de eso y no por ello se puede decir "es invalida" o "es falsa" o "mentira". 2) La iglesia si ha impedido el avance cientifico en el pasado, pero ahora lo fomenta, el vaticano hace mucho por esto, por ejemplo. 3)No impide el pensamiento critico, teología comienza por cuestionar y luego reflexionar. 4) No todas ideas y creencias se tienen que basar en ciencia. La ciencia es una herramienta útil, pero no la eleven a mas. ¿Como me sustenta la ciencia la lógica en la cual esta parada? ¿Como me sustenta la ciencia las matemáticas en la cual esta parada? ¿Como me sustenta la ciencia la filosofía en la cual esta parada? ¿Como me sustenta la ciencia al mismo método cientifico en el cual se basa? But even though he belongs to the conservative party, during his campaing he stated that he believed in equal rights for same sex couples wich is why a lot of people voted for him. Also if you look at same-sex marriage debates in Mexico you'll notice that they not include god as an argument.

I live in mexco city and the image I have of the US has many sources, but one of the aspects that has always baffled me, is the fact that they call their nation christian, and promote intelligent design, such debates have never touched the place where i live in a direct manner, my public scholl library has not a single reference to something religious, and the public offices have no represantation of the ten commandments to be found (neither do they have a nativity scene). Why is it?

@skepticnyc I know this is an old post, but I just wanted to get it out there. Mexico has been more secular than the US for a long time now. The fact that a lot of people in America don't believe in evolution would sound crazy to mexicans.
@eagkss He hates religion because of it's results. Religion tells you that it does not matter if you do wrong, some priest removes that wrong doing from you and all is well. Well son, that is just wrong. If you do wrong you've done it, no priest can remove it. If there were no religion, this world would be so much better off. Religion is segregation and discrimination. Go tell homosexuals why they hate religion. How many more wars will religion support?

Tu lo estas haciendo con el islam, ah pero cuando se trata del cristianismo, "ese argumento ya esta re-quemado", no? Es verdad que el cristianismo tiende a ser menos violento en la actualidad que el islam, pero tiene el mismo potencial fanatico, eso es inegable. No es que un acto sea equivalente a otro, es que la raiz de ellos es la religion.

Creo que tienes una idea bastante diluida de lo que tu religion cree. “Es cierto se cometieron y fueron atroces y condenables” y se cometieron en nombre de Dios, con base en la misma biblia que tu has leido. Y si no lo has hecho, te recomiendo que la leas, te vas a dar cuenta de que Dios no es solo amor y la religion no es paz y hermandad.
