Thanks for another excellent video. At the very end you mentioned it being time for you to try The U.S. Civil War by Mark Simonitch. That’s one of my favorites, and you’re probably going to love it too. Simonitch has done a great job of representing the offensive and defensive reaction maneuvering central to 19th century warfare. It’s a lot of fun to play because both players are constantly engaged regardless of which side is taking a turn. My advice is to play with the basic naval rules, at least at first. I’ve been playing this game for a couple of years now and have yet to feel the need to add the advanced naval rules to the mix.
The Western Theater you mention as Missouri, Kansas, Texas and the like is called the Trans- Mississippi. Sharpsburg is how my family pronounces that battle you mentioned. 😀
Absolutely. Despite being severely outnumbered, the Army of Northern Virginia held the field after the bloodiest single day in American history, and the Army of Potomac decided not to counterattack. Therefore, I think the Confederacy gets to name this terrible battle, “Sharpsburg.”
Idk if u two game but here a list of ones to check out for video games. Battle cry for freedom- Take role of line battles and battle other leaders who control either union confederate troops. Company of heroes 2- RTS ww2 game. With two German factions, the United states, British, Russians. Great tactical rts The great war western front- Not out yet suppose to be great Rising front- Early access ww1 shooter commander of the scenario. Second front- HIGHLY Recommend this one. A hex turn based ww2 tactical game. Close combat- Slow paced ww2 old school tactical rts. Old school but still really good. Holdfast- Napoleonic era 50v50 line battle war. Knights of honor- Old school medevil base builder. Old school cheap but better then the newer version IMO. Tabletop simulator- I mean obvious The total war series Warhammer/ samuri total war etc etc- They cover roman medevil fantasy Ultimate battle- civil war/ The best civil war rts ive ever played. With troop management picking what battles you do and dont. Also effects the future battles with how many units or morale etc. Frozenheim- A good viking era base builder rts style game. ANYWAY i dont know if you guys game. But i thought i could return the favor. You guys blasting out great games. Personally found a few im gonna pick up. This one included. Anyway thank you guys for the awesome vids!
This is an interesting release, glad you featured it. One of the things that held me back was I read that there was no Developer for the game (Compass, red flag). The presentation of the game is very well done (I got the Combat Commander vibe with the map, too). FYI, Richard Berg did a Valverde game (GBACW) in S&T three decades ago. Really excellent overview, thank you.
Can I ask, when you say (compass, red flag). Do you mean that compass as a company is a big red flag to you? If so, why? I have just started backing their games and they seem really good..

@@charlesadams2765 I think it was a mistake for Lee to stand at Antietam.
Great Video. I have got to get a copy of this game.

Thunder in the Ozarks depicts the battle of Pea Ridge which takes place in Arkansas. I think it uses the same system as At Any Cost.
I really like this game. I hope it sells well enough to become an entire series. I'd love to see Brandy Station covered with this system.
Excellent! Thanks for the video.👏😊🇬🇧

@@dogtags2010 No Developer, lack of development.
Nice review guys, compass games make some great games!
A nice stream , Nice interaction between you both
Looks really interesting! Would you recommend this as a good jumping off point for a hex and counter ACW game?
That map is a shocker
You could always just refer to Antietam as "Sharpsburg,"- ha-ha !!!
For chit pull ACW, this or Battle Hymn?
Tough choice as they’re very, very different in scale/play style. I think I prefer Battle Hymn, but again two very different styles of games.
Thanks guys, 1862 seems more my style of filler simulation, ie simple but by no means simplistic. Really enjoyed this video @@ThePlayersAid
