halle-fn-luljia. There's not as much differences in people different cultures as the controlling media leads you to believe. From what I've seen over my life is how common it is for for people to complain or even fear about the horrors of government, and inequalities of justice that affect one group of people. Your revelations that it's the same message in a different bottle is spot one. I challenge you to read the lyrics and look at more metal - especially Metallica - they're saying the same thing you are all saying. Music and art, man - it's universal. The message is universal. It's deeper than most think.

Metallica is the perfect band to experiment with metal because they aren't about demonic or monster crap. They make songs about the human condition that anyone can relate to. How religion fails people, how war is terrible, how depression can lead to suicidal thoughts, gossip. The Black Album is a really good album because the music is at a slower tempo and it's their best album lyrically.

In their defense, the bands themselves often times put people off by going over the top with the dark image. I grew up in a religious family, so I know what it's like. It's a slow process for someone to have an open mind and listen to the lyrics without being creeped out. Fortunately, nothing about Metallica is overtly related to the occult. Can't say the same for all metal bands though.

Hey guys - as an old metalhead I really enjoyed your reaction. Respect for listening to genres outside your comfort zone. I am a white bred Aussie who loves a lot of hip hop as well, esp. old school like Public Enemy and classic Ice T. If you wanna listen to something really heavy though, try The Silence is Deafening by Napalm Death or Cause of Death by Obituary :) Also you should check out Bodycount, Ice T's metal band. One of my favourite songs of his is Talk Sh*t, Get Shot!

That interlude part in the middle is meant to be the drug user while he's high, and as it ends, he's coming down off the high and hitting the realization of how much he needs the drugs as he screams "FIX ME!!!"
"Hell is worth all that" = He's ok doing the drugs because of how it makes him feel, even though when he's not high, he's craving the drugs.

When I was growing up in the 80’s, our music was either labeled as satanic, drug ridden and just violent. Much of the time the lyrics were deep with hard meanings. I am so excited watching you hear what we heard then. Keep it up, I love you guys and your genuine reactions. Understand that the transitions in the music is also a depiction of the stages of someone on drugs. The rage and need (when it’s heavy and angry) high and happy (during the slow melodic transition) then the need for more as it Reagan’s the momentum.

I grew up in a religious family, so I know what it's like. It's a slow process for someone to have an open mind and listen to the lyrics without being creeped out. Fortunately, nothing about Metallica is overtly related to the occult. Can't say the same for all metal bands though.
