It’s a song about their ancestors being victims of genocide.
The song is about how society unfairly judges those who die from suicide or a drug overdose. "I cry when angels deserve to die" is basically saying I cry when good people die from bad habits. In the verse "grab a brush and put a little make up" is pointing out that people with depression put on a 'mask' and hide it because of how they will be judged. "Why'd you leave the keys up on the table" is inferring that if you're going to commit suicide you won't need the keys to get back in.... great reaction though, SOAD is fire!

He knew what they were going to do to him. This song is about all the lost souls and hopeless angel people of today still dying from suicide while others mock them before and after.
Just as an academic curiosity, it should be known that the Bible has a few accounts within it that differ with to respect to what Jesus said. In one account he's unsure, asking "why have you forsaken me"? In others he is not.

They will not grow out of fashion and fall by the wayside like 80s hair metal or crunk music or Blink 182 type alternative, they transcend fad and enter into cultural icons. I’m a life long hip hop fan and I can say with no question or doubt that the best concert I have ever seen was System at OzFest in Camden NJ in ‘02 I believe. Only time I was even near a mosh pit and this music has always had a grasp on me. So I embraced it and everything that came with it.

Jesus was quoting scripture that predicted this exact event of his crucifixion and them selling his clothes etc a thousand years beforehand. He was teaching. Whenever Jesus spoke to God he called him father. This was him quoting scripture to teach:)
