@Boost , you don't know what addiction and depression is. This is why people die . People like u don't take mental health seriously . She had big signs of mental health problem and it didn't help as her label and father forced her to perform when she didn't want to or wasn't fit to perform.
she was and still is, in my opinion, one of the greatest female artist of all time. yes, she had an addiction problem, but that didn't make her any less of a person than you or me. many, and I'm talking like 75% of people in the music industry have no choice than to turn to drugs and alcohol so that they can get over all the pressure the media puts on them. we will never know how hard it can be on a person, they're human too, Amy was a human, and she had a beautiful soul. RIP Amy, you're gone, but never EVER forgotten.
Very true, she was one of the greats, and I believe a bit out of her time period. We forget many others (Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Syd Barrett, Sly Stone, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, etc.) - - who all battled some sort of drug addiction.
Her talent (and addiction history) is very similar to Billie Holiday. Her style and unique voice was also very reminiscent of Billie. Both were lost far too soon.
I love how she took a drink in the middle of the song, messed up and then laughed it off like nothing happened it shows what a free spirit she was, I miss her sm😭😭
Or...she's incredibly drunk/high and doesn't give a f*ck... I love her music and this song but sadly she's very obviously wasting away in this video and in the height of her addiction. Look up stuff from 4-5 years prior. She looks like a totally different person.
+Space Lion For some performers, it helps them with "stage fright". Many performers need alcohol or drugs to get over that. They subsequently die because of it.
I feel like her mind is in another place. The words come out of her effortlessly but her mind is somewhere else. She deserved so much more than what she got.
Thank you, Carveritup, for putting it so perfectly. Watching this performance, I'm amazed and deeply saddened at the same time. What an incredibly talented and lonely young woman. RIP Amy.
Absolutely amazing. Loved the look at the end where she glances at the audience like, "damn, hope they didn't notice." It broke my heart when she lost her voice and timing. Amy was a superstar talent, and she did it effortlessly. I don't know if she ever realized how good she really was.
No! Her timing was way off in this recording, she was disrespectful of the supporting musicians and audience by appearing so drunk. Very sad story all round.
Lorna Murdoch Eaton she sang that song in the way she created it honey, go back to your 8 cats and your bingo nights and your lil sewing machine you 65 year old Betty.

She could sing like this even when she was hammered. Such a shame that all the stresses of being famous and having a toxic family life forced her into substance abuse. Imagine how great her career would've been.
Something that i love about Amy is when ever she sings a song she sings it differently each time, instead of trying to replicate the recording and it truly makes each performance special in its own way.
Amy was truly an icon. Not only did she have an incredible voice, she really wore her style well, the way she wore her hair, the eyeliner, all of it. RIP AMY WINEHOUSE
