I actually feel sorry for him, he described it perfectly when he said her death has been his cross to bare, he has suffered with addiction and all the blame can’t be put on him. Amy wouldn’t have wanted him to blamed. Her father is a lot to blame for how Amy suffered but he never seems to take one bit of responsibility 😢

“When it comes to Blake, I’ve decided never to speak badly about anyone,” said Janis Winehouse, the singer’s mother. “I know it was about love and I don’t think you can judge when it comes to love. Love does the walking and talking. I believe the relationship between Amy and Blake was intimate and genuine.”

I was in a relationship with an addict from 2017-2019. During that time, I spiraled into my own addiction. Addicts aren't able to help themselves out of the abyss, much less anyone else. I completely understand when he explains how he didn't have anyone looking out for him either. I'm glad to see he made it through to the other side and doing okay. Sometimes there is no "bad guy." Sometmes two broken people find each other and are the worse for it. I've been sober since July 2022.

Amy already had an addictive personality before she met Blake. Blake was one of her addictions, from which stemmed some of the best song writing of all time. I felt it was courageous of him to walk away from the relationship after receiving counseling in prison and realising it was toxic co-dependancy. Just wish Amy lived long enough to find a relationship that could have nurtured her and to realise her dream of having a baby. All so sad. But, I don’t blame Blake.

I knew Blake after he split with Amy. The only reason I’m commenting is because of some of the horrible comments here, although I’m very glad to read all the nice ones. Blake had a lot of flaws when I knew him, he was arrogant and cocky, but it was so clearly a facade to cover his insecurities. He loved Amy and she loved him, even after their divorce they spoke for hours on the phone and he was so devastated when she died he nearly killed himself in his effort to numb the pain. Yes, he’s done some awful things due to his addiction, but that kind of regret and guilt only makes it so much harder to get clean and he’s managed it in spite of that; now he has to live every day knowing the things he did without anything to numb those feelings of guilt anymore. I didn’t particularly like Blake when I knew him, but I’m thrilled to see him doing well and I wish him all the best.

I don’t know him but I know enough to see a pattern they had a lot of issues and because of that brought out the worst in each other he doesn’t deserve the blame and you can tell he’s crippled from it if it wasn’t Blake it would be someone else and he’s handling it with such grace that a lot of people couldn’t.

I knew Blake around 1999/2000 when he was a hairdresser in Kentish Town. He was very well mannered and full of positive boyish and youthful energy, almost naive in a way. Very well spoken. Very interested in others, curious about the world. He never once appeared to be interested in the fame game or being the centre of attention in any way. He played his favourite CD all the time "Ash's Nu Clear Sounds" every time I went there. Camden was party central back in the late 90's early 2000's, and he would have started partying hard at that time. He was very impressionable and didn't seem to have a lot of self confidence.

He's come across very well spoken, accepted responsibility for his mistakes and regrets...she was clean from drugs 2 years prior to her death..sadly alcohol amongst other struggles took her life..the pressures of the paparazzi, record company for constantly wanting her to perform - all factors to take into consideration for the escapism that alcohol provides many people.Multiple people/factors played a part in the untimely death of Amy. Unfortunately she didn’t have only alcohol in her system but a high dose of metadone. This last one is very dangerous and still proscribed even if it has been proved that first dies not really work with cravings and secondly it is a very dangerous substance especially if mixed with alcohol that gives double of the addiction. They seem the stock that don’t even believe addiction is a complex impulse and mental vulnerability. Latent mental illness or trauma informing the habit or the Epigenetic factor behind it. They see it as a sinister and selfish choice made in a completely lucid state (which obviously is not the case) and you gleefully invite others into the mess with you.

But what people seem to forget is that the were a lot of people around Amy that were enablers in her cycle. So called "friends". No one helped Amy. They were equally benefiting from her addiction but everyone is silent. 🦗 Crickets 🦗

Blake is brave that's all I have to say. Like Kurt and Courtney and Sid and Nancy, Amy and Blake chose each other.
Amy's story should be told as a series not a movie. I can't wait to see the movie. I feel so bad that Blake always takes the fall. I think he's a sweet person.

Blake was never to blame. Amy and Blake were probably suffering from BPD and they spurred each other on in good ways and in bad ways.
I believe Amy would have hated the way Blake was portrayed in the film, even though it's sympathetic, because to her he was perfect. That's all that matters.
Anyway, it's great to see him looking well and speaking so eloquently.

That’s what I’m thinking this whole time; how do we know how she felt about him towards the end?? How she felt about all of this in general! Sure she loved Blake, but I feel like the multiple times that he hurt Amy, he had to have known what he was doing..there can’t be excuses every time!

Everyone deserves a second chance. Besides, nobody is completely bad or good. He was a human being, he failed, he fell and he put himself back on track. Toxic love is love at the end of the day. And as much as they hurt each other in the past and dragged themselves into addictions and vices, he's still here looking back retrospectively. He's got regret and guilt, and remembering Amy and facing up reality, giving interviews, and in a way, taking responsibility for what he did wrong or what he could've changed in their relationship. I can see a different person, coming clean in his feelings and keeping Amy alive in his memories.

I used to feel just like everyone else about him until I read Janis Winehouse's book. She talks about how Blake, whilst being an addict himself really tried to get Amy help. Unfortunately, her addiction was stronger than anything and I feel that 100% being a recovering addict myself.

I always hated him for abandoning Amy when she needed him the most. But quite recently I now understand that he too was also an addict and Amy was already an addict due to other personal things in her own life that was out of Blake's control.

As an addict in recovery myself (and also a HUGE Amy fan). I hold no ill will to Blake. He didn't know what he was doing back then. I was in rehab in Clapham when when Amy died, and it affected me greatly. I was also going through a very similar thing in regards to a very toxic using relationship. but I was still head over heels in love and made my own choices. Addiction is a cruel, and doesn't discriminate. So hats off to Blake for getting clean. Amy, Back To Black was the soundtrack to my heartache also...you are loved and missed x

21 years clean and sober here and I gotta say that what I got from the movie is that Amy didn’t get sober for herself, she did it to get him back, that right there is a sure fire way to know it won’t stick. I wish they had both had people looking out for them for real! RIP Amy, you’re missed.

These reporters are drama diggers. Addiction is more than being introduced to a substance. It is self medication for the user to cope with past trauma and pain inflicted be others or chemical imbalance in the brain.

life experiences like neglecting from a very young age and emotional not present parents between other issues can make people fall in this type of behaviour because it forms our personality. Everything affects us to form part of our personality, for that reason it is very important which surrounds us even if it is a blood family.
I might have some mistakes, this isn't my mother language and I have problems with dyslexia.

It breaks my heart to see these interviewers to talk to Blake with such distain and judgement. You can clearly see he has worked hard to repent his sins of the past. When the stuff went down with Amy, they were just kids. People make mistakes and you can really hear it in his voice when he describes how much love he had for Amy. Bless him.❤
