      Hey man, that's what I'm here for! Don't sleep on it either, it's been slowly rising in price even before I posted the review :/ Japanese GBC is starting to become a pricey hobby and I don't like it haha! Cheers for watching as always dude!

    So weird that you discovered this rhythm game/action game hybrid when not one but TWO recent indie titles have decided to try that out themselves, in NSR: No Straight Roads and BPM: Bullets Per Minute. Epoch and Macross were somehow maybe ahead of the curve here in terms of fascinating little oddball music/action gameplay! WILD! (^-^)
    Oh and hey man, Tekkaman Blade was bastardized and all, but c'mon.... how can you not love the western name, Techno Man!? I LOVED that name. I own Discotek's Tekkaman Blade Complete Collection nowadays on DVD, and there's a real part of me that's bummed out it's not called TECHNOMAN :P

    Seems like a rare case of the source material shaping the design of the game to the extent it surely couldn't exist in the form it does otherwise.

    • @GameBoyle
      @GameBoyle  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, it certainly seems that way! I'm glad the craziness that Macross 7 was birthed this thing - while it's not my favourite game, it's certainly an interesting concept! Thanks for watching :)

    I'm so glad to see Macross 7 get some much deserved love here. It's my favorite entry in the series by far. The game looks interesting too, so I guess I'll have to dig up a copy somewhere, or a rom if I absolutely have to go that route. Thanks for sharing!

      Had I not got this game, I wouldn't have know about it! I kept putting the review off while I binged the anime haha! Let me know if you manage to track down a copy and thanks for watching!

      @@GameBoyle Hehe, well I'm glad to hear the game convinced you to binge the anime. It's really worth it just for the music, though I love it all around personally. But yeah, no problem. I love the content so keep up the good work.

      @@feethebunny Honestly, I found the playlist on YT and before I knew it, I was 10 episodes in haha! Thanks for the kind words and any other anime recommendations you have, I'm all ears for!

      @@GameBoyle Hehe, I know that feeling. I kinda fell back into the stuff a few years back. You just randomly hit one that draws you in and before you know it you're craving more because the one you like is already over but you just need more. But yeah, I wouldn't even know where to start recommending anime without knowing what you like beyond this one, rather unique show (though do watch the OVAs and such for it if you haven't, since it's more of the same). I would say, treat anime like movies or TV. If you have a genre you enjoy, like sports dramas or space operas or whatever it might be, Google anime of that genre and see what strikes your fancy. Or I can just name random stuff I've seen and think is good if you have a genre to narrow things down to. I just don't want to say, "Oh, you should totally watch all my favorites regardless of genre because they're awesome." with no reason behind it. I see people give recommendations like that and it feels both impersonal and mildly unhelpful, if you know what I mean. Wow, okay, long comments are long, hehe. Sorry, I'll leave it at that for now.

    Hasbro definitely took a bunch of different transforming toy lines from different companies from Japan and mashed them together to make the Transformers toy line, although most of them were from Takara. I always thought it was so weird that the cartoon version of Jetfire had a different face/head and was named 'Skyfire'. Maybe it would have been too conflicting to use Bandai's design of the toy in the cartoon. Still need to grab this GBC game. I would love to play a game as Jetfire, even though it's not really Jetfire.

    You've got to give it to the Japanese, they do like to think outside the box. It might not have been a successful genre blend but You've got to respect the attempt.

    • @GameBoyle
      @GameBoyle  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure man - honestly I think there could be something quite cool to come out of merging these two genres - either by going Tetris Effect with it and making a zen experience, or making a crazy bullet hell style game where you're full on button mashing haha! Cheers for watching dude and hope you're doing well during these weird times!
