    I was going to say I've never had a tee shrink, even the cheapest ones, but we only use cold water and hang to dry.

    is there a significant difference if i machine wash and tumble dry cotton fabric twice before sewing it on shrinkage on first wash AFTER the garment is sewn, or does this not really affect it by much? The reason why this is important is because i am trying to get my own clothing made, and the tailor that can make my clothing said that if im concerned with shrinkage so much, that i can do the machine wash and tumble dry the fabric twice before handing it to them to sew, however, this still doesn't give a rough estimate of much shrinkage there will be, as she didn't specify this, and i didn't want to keep addressing the point, so i took that information to figure out something later.
    So I haven't been able to test out any fabrics or garments like this, because usually the measurements i take on pre shrunk garments is after the first machine wash and tumble dry, and just before it to compare the differences, but not the 2nd time, but i haven't had any pre shrunk t shirts shrink more than like 4.5 percent or so in length, usually it's closer to 3 percent, such as from port and company's t shirts, and width wise, it's closer to what someone had on a review for gildan t shirts, at roughly half a percent, so i don't know why they say 5 percent maximum shrinkage for both length and width, when the width shrinkage is usually much less.
    i know this video is specifically addressing the 100 percent cotton t shirts from bella canvas, but i noticed that banana republic for example, their slim traveler jeans that was 61% cotton, 22% recycled cotton, 11% TENCEL lyocell, 5% hemp, and 1% elastane had only shrunk about 1.5% or so in length after the first machine wash and tumble dry, going roughly from a 28.5" inseam to 28" inseam, i didn't really see a noticeable change in hip width, it was probably closer to .5% like the gildan one. I tried asking chatgpt my questions on shrinkage, specifically about machine washing and tumble drying the 98-100 percent cotton fabrics, but unfortunately, chatgpt was only able to give me relatively general answers that weren't taking into account the context of my question too much, basically giving me a general shrinkage range of 1-3 percent for both length and width, which is a problem, because i am putting down no more than .5 percent for any width shrinkage on pre shrunk cotton, but you have brands like bella canvas specifying up to 5% shrinkage in width being possible on their pre shrunk cotton garments.

    Does the PRINT quality fade on 100% Cotton (primary cotton) after washing? 😏

    • @BELLACANVASOFFICIAL
      @BELLACANVASOFFICIAL  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question--the dyes we use to dye our fabric help insure the print holds to the garment. As long as the print was cured correctly, should be just as vibrant after washing.

    Your shirts still shrink though by 5 percent that's a lot

    • @idin03
      @idin03 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      5% may be a lot, however, one bigger concern is specifically with the width, bella canvas is stating that up to 5% shrinkage can occur on both the length AND width, where as the width is something that usually doesn't / shouldn't shrink that much, for example, certain gildan pre shrunk t shirts only shrink about .5% in width, which is much less than 5%, so i do not why the results can be so different with bella canvas. although they do specify a maximum shrinkage overall, this is still an issue, because if something shrinks only 1.5 percent for example in length and width, that is much less than 4.5-5 percent, and that can be a problem if the sleeves end up being slightly too long ( more specifically an issue for long sleeve t shirts ) or some other area of the shirt ends up being slightly too long, in other words, they are leaving too much of a gap tolerance, and that is not good, this is precisely the issue i am having myself ( i asked the question in this video as well ), on having my own clothing made, and i would really need to know the closest possible shrinkage expectations for length and width, so that i can then adjust my specifications that take this into account, at the moment, i cannot finalize the specs, because the shrinkage can seem to vary several percentages.

    How is you supposed to start a business when you do not have a chance? I tried to get some wholesale shirts at the bella canvas as a reseller because I have a clothing brand has a start up and there's a lot of things to fill out in the form... I mean I can't move buying from china to USA!!! China wholesaler suppliers gives you min MOQ, THE PRICE, THE SHIPPING COSTS, and so on. And I tried on bellacanvas and started to fill out the form and I've seen that you must have ressel certificate, federal tax ID, resale license, ASI. I mean what the heck??? I have my website I'm trying to start a clothing line business but nah... 2much ... for me to register I need to fill all that? Nah... thanks.

      Hi John, thanks for sharing. However, we require at least a resale license to create a wholesale account so that you may resell our garments as well as purchase from us at wholesale pricing. The resale certificate is so you would be exempt from being taxed by the state for purchasing at wholesale pricing and for reselling our garments. I hope that clears things up a bit for you but if you would like more info, you can email us at support@bellacanvas.com.
