Finally beat this one this was honestly so challenging I died so many times but also pay attention to the bar under his health and rage at the right moment you will do much more damage when that gets full but and the poison bombs was a great tip
Tips: I just beat this boss a few days ago as of the time writing this, so here’s some of my advice. The first one is to use guardian shield. When you parry you’ll stop the whole chain of attacks from the boss and/or his summons if you click R1 immediately after (more helpful than ut seems). My second tip is that if you’re level 6 or below, don’t bother trying to fight him. It’ll be too hard. Come back and fight him once you’re level 7, 8, or 9. Although it can be done without much difficulty at 7 or 8.

This boss is straight cheese. I thought he was a pain on no mercy, but on god of war diff they really ushered in the hurt. I was able to get him by going full on realm shift build. In the beginning, I used Atreus' summon, shift relic, and then spammed a heavy runic and repeatedly used the whiplash until he broke free. I was able to take off a third of his health. After that I used the spear's detonation ability to take out any nightmares. I focused on dodging and parrying the berserker and sneaking in a couple more hits from the realm shift dodges when he came at me. I only targeted the minions if they got close, but I did want to get rid of them so I can focus on the berserker without getting hit off camera. When he eventually became alone, I spammed another runic, went into rage, and then repeated the process over again since he does break free or dons that cloak of non stagger BS that the enemies on this diff seem to use way to frequently when heavy damage is dolled out at them.
This is the last Berserker i have left before the King on NG+ GMGOW. I'm dreading it more than the triple berserkers because of how much is going on. I just beat the triple ones yesterday after a ridiculous number of attempts. Great video with solid advice. You speak clearly in simple langauage which really helps.
Wow an actual guide with helpful tips instead of just showing footage of the fight and slapping the word guide in the title like so many do. Was struggling with this for 2 hours on give me no mercy. Then beat it the first try, with your tips in mind. Thanks for the help 👍

This is great, but I had to come up with my own strategy because there is no fucking way I could get those minion bitches to line up with the boss. The berserker doesn't allow me enough time to reach him because he prances way the fuck back and the minions scatter upon summon.
Whichever Game Designer decided to make this Berserker the way he is deserves either a pay cut or termination from the company. I'm serious. This Boss Battle was so poorly designed it made me actually question my decision to purchase this game. And video games should NOT make you feel that way, ever.
I mean, I did just fine at lvl 5, and all I did was ignore everyone else and put all my effort into the boss himself, I died a total of 8 times, but that 8th time was clean, I basically did what he did, spam as many runic attacks on him, I have a decent armor build with the radiance, so whenever he did his double whammy punch or that Valkeryie jump, I'd dodge last second and go hammer, and whenever he was stunned I would spam my rage to keep taking damage from him, it's super helpful, when he spawns, I let artreus use his runic attack as well.
@favianguerra8954 well considering that none of these "bosses" have actual patterned attacks like bosses with good, sensical game design have, I'd say you got lucky. They just spit out random move after random move and sometimes they'll begin attacks before their previous one even finished. The side bosses in this new God of War formula (the combat formula in the Norse series) are riddled with lazy combat design. It's like they're trying to turn God of War into a souls game and it makes me sad, because I actually grew up playing the Greek trilogy which was actually GREAT and had good, sound game design. It wasn't trying to copy Souls-like gameplay, it was it's own thing and it dominated the scene. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
@FatalShotGG granted, there was some luck, but it wasn't like I was just being ignored, I still had to use my quick turn to parry or dodge an enemy. And as much glitches I have experienced in this game, I haven't had an enemy or a berserker, that would just change it's pattern mid animation, that sounds like a really bad glitch you are receiving. I'll have to say that as lame as this boss was, he isn't any different from Theseus or Hercules, those boss battles also spawned ads to keep you at bay, it isn't out of the ordinary, plus he dies fast, it's not like he's immortal, even my lvl 5 weapons were able to take him down fairly quickly in GMGOW. But I do understand this isn't really innovative, and the camera doesn't help much, they nerfed quick turn, and the arenas aren't really suited for this camera.
Here’s a tip you can use for most of the berserker boss fights: So basically in the beginning use the blades heavy runic attack Atlas Eruption (where u spam R2 to smash the blades into the ground multiple times, making waves of fire by doing so). Then right after have Freya use her runic summon steel harmony (where she slashes multiple stun and bifrost waves or whatever they are called at the boss.) At the same time use the relic Glaive of dodher (where you throw the bifrost spheres at the enemy, preferably at max). When you have activated the animation quickly switch to the axe and use the heavy runic attack breath of thamur. This should eliminate about 1 bar of the boss’s health. This works for the berserkers I’ve fought so far. Edit: Just so you know for this boss this doesn’t work, although I have an alternate version of this for this boss.
There's another way, using wraith or whatever that disrupt him from summoning. At the beginning, don't attack yet, wait for him to jump backward then cast a time shift to get close to him and attack him with all your runic, that will cancel out his summon. Next summon, I think is after he jumps in the air and cast poison the second time or after he jumps and body slam at you (just stay close to him), just let him do his move, parry and attack, just watch real close for his move sequence, you'll figure out when he's going to jump backward, that's your cue to activate wraith a few times. And while doing this, activate Atreaus' wolf/bird summon just to be sure. By the time he's at the corner, Atreus's summon has activated and will cancel yet again another summon or it will cancel by your wraith. Rinse and repeat.
Remember the Nokken comes in when his life is low. When he throws regular poison balls, he pretty much every time comes towards you ready to poison explode. When he throws his unblock able poison balls then he will come at you with the poison explosion or his combo. Breath of Thamur an winters bite or hels touch combined with hilt of skofnug will eat his health. About 25 percent. Don’t forget to throw Atreus or freya runic attack in there.
I just played this on NG+ GMGOW I had little trouble with the gank fights with the couple and sisters. But this one pissed me off so much. Had to resort to a high runic build with tons of stagger and AOE.

I found an easy trick to this one, if you use the shield that charges up while blocking you can just shield bash the minions miles away when they start to approach you allowing you to focus on the main boss 👌🏼 Thanks for the tip about the nightmares! After defeating the sisters (after 3 days of trying) this guy was a breeze 😂
I found the sisters to be rlly easy. Ig playing 2018 on gmgow and platting it before this game rlly made me skilled cause I was realm shifting everything by perfect dodging
@@oxfordking well I mean if you master perfect dodging it becomes easy mode which I did more or less master it and besides, they don’t last long in this game, only 1 second and no, the talisman I was using was not the realm shift one it was the bifrost one
this was helpful, but still having challenges with those nightmare thingys when i try to lock on to it with my camera my blades end up hitting the most closest target instead, so when i try to run close objects off camera instantly kills me…i think this GMGOW level on NG + is overkill 🤦🏾♂️
@@SubnetMaskedMan I can see it, I think I was more leveled when I fought them. But the arena is much larger, and only the main guy constantly aggs on you. The poison guy keeps summoning nightmares which are by far the most annoying enemies in the game to me lol, hated that so much
I somehow didn't let him summon anyone till he was 45% HP and i didn't even take a single hit . Used all runic attacks and spammed Spartan rage wrath when he was about to summon After this tides changed and i had to use superior resurrection stone and was 10HP when he was dead . But thus made me think that if i did everything perfect maybe i could have defeated him without taking damage I had that lightning hilt rune and Raven tears armour ..atreus with his wolf also helped
I defeated this berserker with a resurrection stone, and I don't know if it affects any trophy or something, or if it is considered a "trap." It is the first time I have used one against a berserker, but this specific one cost me a lot and in the end The berserker had little life and they defeated me so I chose to use the resurrection stone, and I don't know if this affects anything or is considered cheating
Oh man, I 100 percent agree with you on this berserker fight, he's a freaking nightmare among all the other challenges. and a huge thank you for your insight to this fight. You helped me huge on the lightning berserker, and this jackass is no joke. Again, a big thank you man!
Sometimes I find myself saying how unbelievably unfair and cheap they make Give me god of war difficulty. It’s laughable how one fight they come out and just kill you with one or 2 shots, or when you clearly dodge an attack it still manages to hit you. I like a good challenge but they make ridiculous how the game chooses the outcome no matter what you do.
Forget pain in the @$$, this berserker literally made me curse at the game designers & cory Barlog/eric williams Literally hated how unfair this fight is.
Red health indicates the boss is 3 (plus) levels higher than and you should probably equip better gear. Yellow health means the enemy and Kratos are about the same level.
I honestly hate the fact that he had to spawn minions, it makes for a unnecessarily hard boss fight and like don't get me wrong i like a good old challenge but this is just irritating 😂
I really don't enjoy this fight at all. The new game plus makes the adds more dangerous than the boss. I have this boss downloaded, what's painful is the adds offscreen whiping me. Terrible boss
I should've expected nothing less than some cheap ass bullshit from God Of War. This one and the one in the Sand Desert is absolutely ridiculous even on the easiest settings.

If you are a shield guy you don’t wanna see yellow ring attacks, if u don’t parry it but instead block it will stun lock you

I made the mistake of fighting the bastard at level 5 and the draupnir spear was literally a life saver with the stuns

I highly recommend everyone to turn on checkpoints for bosses. It makes the bosses way less tiring.

BIGGEST TIP: Use rage of WRATH. it one shots its minion if you are stuck, also when you kill them using rage you won't get hit. It helped me.

when u pull in the nightmares with the blades, it also counts as an execution, meaning u have i frames :)

By far the hardest berserker, not even close. The others were all a breeze in comparison

It is the first time I have used one against a berserker, but this specific one cost me a lot and in the end The berserker had little life and they defeated me so I chose to use the resurrection stone, and I don't know if this affects anything or is considered cheating

I try to fist with lunden armor out of 100 tries I got him to half a bar left...parry boss...hate it.

Sometimes I find myself saying how unbelievably unfair and cheap they make Give me god of war difficulty. It’s laughable how one fight they come out and just kill you with one or 2 shots, or when you clearly dodge an attack it still manages to hit you. I like a good challenge but they make ridiculous how the game chooses the outcome no matter what you do.
Forget pain in the @$$, this berserker literally made me curse at the game designers & cory Barlog/eric williams

No clue
Red health indicates the boss is 3 (plus) levels higher than and you should probably equip better gear. Yellow health means the enemy and Kratos are about the same level.
I honestly hate the fact that he had to spawn minions, it makes for a unnecessarily hard boss fight and like don't get me wrong i like a good old challenge but this is just irritating 😂

I really don't enjoy this fight at all. The new game plus makes the adds more dangerous than the boss. I have this boss downloaded, what's painful is the adds offscreen whiping me. Terrible boss
I should've expected nothing less than some cheap ass bullshit from God Of War. This one and the one in the Sand Desert is absolutely ridiculous even on the easiest settings.
