I just want to say, that your honesty Is what has drawn us to you. I know it may feel bad to brands that make careless products or products that aren’t designed with people of color in mind- but please don’t stop telling us plainly the worst products for the skin of color family. Yes, companies are passionate about their products but unfortunately companies are also passionate about making tons of money. They are adults- they can handle it. If they are concerned with making a great product, they will adjust. You’re never derogatory, defamatory, or “mean” in your reviews. You are honest & your opinion is always backed by facts and according to your purpose and passion for skin of color. You have become a force to reckon with. We are so proud of you. This is why we love and trust you as a professional and family. It’s not negative energy. It’s honest energy. It’s protective energy. It’s empowering energy. And that’s as positive as you can get. ☺️🤗

My 59 year old asian skin thanks you for helping me navigate all these products. I almost just ordered the 1st one you reviewed, now I won't. I lived in the Caribbean for years in my 20's worshipping the sun and shunning sunscreen, which back then always gave me rashes. I need and appreciate a whole new education about sunscreen and trust your information because it is not monetized. I really enjoy your content. I have a suggestion- when doing a video on a product that you do not recommend, would you be so kind as to list several high end and several affordable/drugstore products you do. Personally, I use Elta MD 46 and Elta MD elements with 10% zinc oxide and titanium dioxide 5.5% with no problem, however, i would prefer to use a product that isn’t potentially harmful to my skin. If alternatives were listed that would be very helpful! Thank you! Keep up the great work! I live in the US.

I don't know where she got her info but EltaMD Clear SPF 46 is fantastic for my combination acne prone skin. She just thinks her sunscreen is the only one that works. I've tried her sunscreen and it's quite greasy and leaves a white cast on dark skin. Not to mention it's too expensive for the size and amount.

Thank you so much, I love all your videos!!

9:25 you'd be surprised there are many companies, especially larger companies, that don't care about consumer safety or general benefit over increasing profits. Historically, that's been the case as well and there are documentaries showing that, across many sectors. If they can make money even at the expense of others, so be it. And the general lack of regulation of perpetuates that.

Could you look at Verdio UV moisture sunscreens? They're japanase, fragance free, essential oil and denatured alcohol free with no white cast. They have antioxidants too. They're chemical but not irritating. They're spf 50+ with PA++++ To top it all of, the essence one is $7 and the gel one, which has a bigger bottle, is (roughly?) $10
The only downsides I'd say would be the gel one looks too glowy for oily skin types and perhaps even dry skin types, but the essence one is fine

  • @MelissaLona

Thank you for your honest view of the Ulta MD UV Clear SPF 46. I'm torn because I love this product. It doesn't leave a white cast. It goes on smooth and leave my skin soft and glowy but not oily. It doesn't burn my eyes like other sunscreens. I really like it. But now I wonder does it offer the best protection. I hear dark skin women should wear mineral sunscreen but it literally leave my skin white. I'm torn. What do I do?

    • @nazmakhatun3022

    I’m confused.
Dr. Rattan loves many of Paula’s Choice products with too long ingredients list that can have more possible irritants than EltaMD. But, too many dermatologist loves EltaMD because of its short ingredients list like Vanicream. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Interesting. My husband and I both love the eltamd UV physical sunscreen for our faces. We both break out from sunscreens that clog pores, but neither of us have had an issue with this one. Plus it's tinted and physical and is quite affordable for how big it is. I always reapply a ton throughout the day plus wear my sunscreen and hat. Is it crazy of me to keep using it? It was hard enough to get my husband to wear sunscreen at all...

    • @masonklein
      @masonklein 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

The best sunscreen is the one that you like enough to wear daily. She should have said this in her video. People are dying for her approval on products they love and use. But the reality is that it is a sunscreen designed to protect you from the sun and is, at the very least, better than nothing. Like she said, brand owners don’t set out to create a bad product. They are doing the research and doing their best to create good products. Elta MD is one of the few skincare brands that stresses sun protection over useless serums and oils, and they have a wide selection of sunscreens to choose from. If you love it, use it. I use the UV daily spf 40 and adore that one.

I can’t wait to purchase your sunscreen! I’m just wondering whether I will need to moisturise underneath it as I have oily skin and you mentioned its more for dry skin. Is it moisturising enough to be worn alone for oily skin? 💕

You said not to use antioxidants in the am, but one of the sunscreens you recommend has antioxidants, so is it ok to use in a sunscreen?
Also how do you feel about mechanical facial brushes?

I am a Filipino with brown skin. You do not recommend the first 2 products. Sounds like you don’t recommend them for skin of any color and not just skin of color is that right?

Balneum cream... is a cream given to me by the dermatologist as a main moisturiser for severe eczema/psoriasis,...it's amazing to me, but maybe you can look at it for others? ...I especially want to know if it's better than Cera ve.
