when Kai demostrated the crop mode for video from far away some guy was walking and realised he was in the shot and ran for his life :) LOL!!!!!!!! that was hilarios!!!!!!!!!!
Not saying I agree with people abusing expensive equipment but I think there is some benefit to seeing him beat up the cameras. I would much rather see him in his sponsored video drop a camera than myself! These videos tell me exactly how much water, heat and abuse my cameras/ lenses can take before getting destroyed. I know I push myself to my limits while shooting (standing over ledges, standing near water, taking it to the beach). He lets me know if I should be freaking out because my camera fell 3 feet or if it's going to be okay. Stop trolling people. It's not your stuff. Learn from it.
iambluetyler I hope you are referring to the ending when he is destroying kit lenses. Kit lenses are not worth using. When he dropped the camera, he dropped the prop camera. Apparently a lot of people fell for that.
I just ordered my Canon 600D about 1 hour ago because I got a great deal on it that comes with a bag and 8GB sandisk....OMG, I can't wait to get my hands on it! I currently own an XS! The biggest reason on why I"m getting the Canon 600D is because it has good video since I need it for my TH-cam ! :)
Thanks for making information entertaining as well! I appreciate it! Also, love your sense of humor and facial expressions. Looks like your just as comfortable in front of a camera as behind one.
@busfullofchinks you might have a point. I live in the netherlands, and when I googled both cameras I found those prices. But price doesn't matter that much, it's just that the 600D is an entry level DSLR and the 60D is a professional one. I bought myself a 600D because I've just started photography and wanted an easy to use camera. So in that aspect they are very different camera's
minh cha that good huh? someone is wanting me to trade a 60d for my phone. he's offering a kit lens with it too. so your saying the camera is pretty good huh?
Your videos are EXCELLENT! I love the way you incorporate your humor LOL....at the same time you are extremely informative and have helped me in making my camera purchase decision. Thumbs up!
@nightubble if you dont do sports/moving objects photography, go for the 600d. in the future when you upgrade, you will not want another APS-C sensor anymore.
I've set my sights on the 60D and I haven't seen it topped. I too want it for filmaking and with manual audio recording and all its other features, apart from not being a full frame camera, it surpasses its even more expensive counterparts. I am planning on getting one as my first DSLR as the price and bang for your buck cannot be beat in my opinion . I would highly recomend it. :)
This is a fantastic camera, and a great first DSLR. I say that because if it is your first, you will not be comparing the control layout with your old XXD or XXXD, and that seems to be an issue with some. I get it on amazon: ##amzn.to/1c5b7js
Hi thanks for your video. I have purchaed a 60D,however the lens18-55mm coming with the kit is not good for take still images. I noticed you are using a different one ,could you tell me what lens is that? I guess it is 28-105mm USM one for shot the photos. that is the one I am going to purchase. the question is I am willing to upgrade to 6D a few month later. In your opinion, did this lens will going with the 6D body well?
I'd go with the 60D, only feature it doesn't have is the 3-10x crop. What it does have though which is not mentioned is a 10x crop but its only for low res 640 x 480
I own both cameras. Outside of the couple weak points of the T3i's photography and the 60D having more options in the iso, shutter speed, continuous burst and white balance, they are identical (outside of size, buttons and batteries) the only difference there is in video is iso stops(T3i only has half the options as the 60d) and the 60d has iso high one at 12800 where i dont think the T3i does also the 60d has "K temp" white balance option.
Hi I have a question. I am planning to buy an EOS 7D body and an EF 100mm f/2.8 L macro from your website. Items will be delivered to Melbourne. How long will it take and do I have to pay customs or GST for those items on top of the listed price?
I own an old nikon d80, I've decided to switch to canon, but im in a fix, whether to go for the 550d, or the 60d. Ive seen the youtube video of it made by you, but, im still pretty confused. Im NOT into too much of sports or really fast action photography. More into, portraits and nature. I wont be needing the burst mode too much either. Will the 9 cross-type AF points make much of a difference? Or should i stick to the 550d and go for some good L glass? Please reply! thank you!
It's called Acoustic Sunrise and you can find it on youtube and since it originates from iMovie, you can probably find it there as well if you have it or don't mind spending $15 for it.
They are not the same at all.. if you want to do video get the 60D, 29 minutes continues video shooting vs 13 minutes. The 60D got auto focus in video mode, the T3i doesnt..
shanu khalifa I though the 60D is the same as the T4i and the T5i which the latest got AF in video mode..Also just learned that all Canon DSLRs are using a FAT32 system that limit the video files to 4gig or 12.89 minutes..Folks are countering that problem with Magic Lantern.
Because by using the best glass possible, you eliminate the possibility of the lens effecting the over-all revue. Using the best lens, and especially by using the same lens, the variables you're left with are on the camera alone.
I had two T3i's for video. I just traded them in to get one 60D. Im not gonna go into detail, but after 6 months of use with the 600D, I would rather just have the one camera. Trust me, and spend the extra cash.
@Xpert30 What about build quality, or ability to take better video in the 550 vs the 500 (30p vs ~20p @1080), or the swivel LCD on the 600D and 60D, or the chasis construction material, etc. etc. etc.
Is it right that meanwhile the 60D has the same crop mode zoom as the 600D (by firmware update)? And if not, what About Magic Lantern. Does it bring the crop zoom to the 60D?
@callmefantastic It really depends too what degree of video production you are talking about. If you wanted to shoot a short film, like something narrative, and were worried about being efficient during resets of scenes, etc. than the 60D might be worth the extra $100-150bux. For one, the battery life is much longer. And two, you have the 7D-like wheel near the shutter to quickly change settings... like exposing for a Neutral picture style and then switching over to Technicolor's CineStyle.
I have the Canon EOS 60D, Grip Canon BG-E9, Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC OS HSM Macro, Tamron SP AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD, Canon 50mm f/1.8 II (only last photo), Raynox DCR-250 Macro, Flash Canon 430EX II, Professional tripod Fancier FT6906, Hoya 72mm Pro-1 Digital Circular Polarizing Slim Filter, Memory: Sandisk Extreme SDHC 16GB 30MB/s HD Video, Sandisk Extreme III SDHC 8GB 30MB/s, Tamrac 5606-R Pro 6 Black case and other accessories. And i am extremely pleased.Don`t need a L-lens.Great body!
No not yet, I've slowly moved away from SLR's and more onto HD Camcorders purely because i want to get into filming and at first it seemed like buying either of the canons would be good because of the ability to take amazing images and also the HD video but now it seems the camcorders have move to offer in terms of video quality and features.

Is the AF in video mode better in 600d than in 6d? In 6d it's working only in manual focus. Just now I'm looking for some camera for video. is it worth to buy 600d if I already have 6d and 40d?
hey there!!! i just recently bought 650d from a well known online shop..but i keep getting this feeling that this camera has been used by somebody else before..i mean it doesnt appear fresh..and as there is no company seal, or screen guard or lens guard on new products, i am not quite sure if its fresh..any guess on how to find out if its used or new?? thanx!!!!!
Im looking at either of these cameras, Iv played and used DSLR's before but never owned one, and am looking at one with a twin len's kit. The len's are 18-55 IS & 55-250 IS. Compared to other canon len's how do thses rank? Are they good for pritty much anything? Or are they more like lower end len's?
@aliciabiatch Because he was just testing out the Digital Zoom feauture and plus it's easier to record with a monopod or tripod which allows for more stabability that he didn't have. Or maybe you were talking about the focusing. If you were talking about the focusing then that was because there is no auto focus feature during video like some of Nikon's entry level DSLRs so you have to manual focus.
Hey kai my t3i keeps stoping automatically when videoing the internet says it's something to do with the SD card I'm using so I'm curious which SD card do you use ???
Good review highlighting the main differences and strong points of both cameras, 600D better for video and 60D better for photos. But what is that lens review all about, a counter to a few silly comments. I like your reviews very easy to understand and you actually show pictures and footage from the actual camera being reviewed. Keep them coming.
@eveningniteshade You are right. But don't call it a digital zoom then, call it crop zoom or whatever. I reacted the way i did, because he called it a digital zoom, which is just zooming in on the pixels.
60d is very affordable nowadays. As an owner of 600d it's tempting to find a dealer that would take in my current camera and get the 60d. If not for anything else, better ergonomics. But it would be a sort of a half-step, upgrading from a 600D. Better to just keep shooting, I think.

Canon 600D is what i would choose because it is much cheaper and you are getting an amazing quality camera anyways :D I would only go for the 60D if i was a pro photographer
I'm not "working" with neither of them, I'm a medical intern, I only shoot when I'm on holidays, and this is pretty much everything I need. But some photographers probably start with one of these. Or do you think everybody begins with a $5000 full frame SLR?
600D and use that extra 100 to go towards a lens if you're leaning more towards video. If you're more into sports photography. in that case i'd say the 60D.
thanx for the reply..i searched over the internet..it says canon doesn't provide any company seal for the sake of the retailers (returning and re-selling stuffs)..thats bad for the customers..
@lebchiri Yes, but being that the SDCards are formatted with fat32 the maximum file size is 4gb, 12mins at 1080p. The camera will just create a new file.
I've got the 600D and rented the 60D, and to be honest, because the 600D is lighter, smaller, thinner, and has a cooler shutter sound, I think that the 600D is a more fun camera but for a more serious photographer the 60D is a great choice.
So apart from the 8 more focus points, less shutter lag, 1/8000 shutter speed, faster fps, larger battery life, build quality and weather sealing. How exactly is the 600D better or even "near equal"?
I think that the 600D is what most people are going for simply because it's a substantially cheap dare I say Entry level camera which a lot of people are using to start on. Myself included. however, it wouldn't surprise me if they then at least tried the 60D and fell in love with it.
when Kai demostrated the crop mode for video from far away some guy was walking and realised he was in the shot and ran for his life :) LOL!!!!!!!! that was hilarios!!!!!!!!!!
That 3-10 crop sensor zoom is very neat indeed. I have a 60D for photos and a 600D for movies.
The 600D is still a great camera. Looking foward to Fullframe though
I have the 600d (canon t3i) and it works great to make videos. I have used that to make all of my videos
***** that makes it even better! I definitely fell for that :)
+Hector Rodriguez kit lens are so good nowadays especially with panasonic and nikkn
After the intro I was watching you taking you pictures and talking about some kind of museum for minutes.. not what I expected.
***** So?
These guys know how to turn up
I just ordered my Canon 600D about 1 hour ago because I got a great deal on it that comes with a bag and 8GB sandisk....OMG, I can't wait to get my hands on it! I currently own an XS! great camera 600d..
u guys are funny...

That was a great Columbine reenactment.
Finally, A camera review that even I can understand. Thanks, I'm about to pull the trigger on the 6oD!!
About the end part,
Wow
Apart from dropping, the other seem too intentional
Also it seems
I dont know
Not my style lel
@nightubble if you dont do sports/moving objects photography, go for the 600d. in the future when you upgrade, you will not want another APS-C sensor anymore.
WE ALL KNOW YOU DROPPED IT ON PURPOSE. HENCE THE NEW HACK.
IF YOU DROP YOUR CANON 600D-60D DOWN STAIRS IT WILL NOW SHOOT 4K!
IT WORKED!!! THANKS FOR THE TIP!
I've set my sights on the 60D and I haven't seen it topped. 5:53 oh shit !
Hello! I wonder if you would have the transmitter and receiver for lavalier like this that you used in the video?
Thank you!
thankyou
You can get the canon rebel t3i with lens kit on www.digilg.com/canonrebelt3i
for anyone looking.

I'd go with the 60D, only feature it doesn't have is the 3-10x crop. What it does have though which is not mentioned is a 10x crop but its only for low res 640 x 480
This is a waste of time. Not a helpful comparison really.

Nothing useful and helpful things on this video.
Your right, but using an L lens avoids any doubt that the lens is the issue causing any sort of image distortion or noise.
I have a T3i, and use the 100-400mm L lens, it's worked perfectly for me, and the picture quality is amazing. Save the money, and get a nice lens.

@8888Eastman Hi i'm hoping to buy that camera...but why did you prefer it over the 60d?

Hi, what kind of device uses your cameraman to plug his headphones in while filming?
@aliciabiatch Because he was just testing out the Digital Zoom feauture and plus it's easier to record with a monopod or tripod which allows for more stabability that he didn't have. when you filmed with the Canon 600D did you use the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens ?
I am looking to make music videos and short films along with take pro photos which is recommended the T3i or the 5d mark 2
@DigitalRevCom what camera is Lok fiming with at 6:08?
60d is very affordable nowadays. As an owner of 600d it's tempting to find a dealer that would take in my current camera and get the 60d. If not for anything else, better ergonomics.
But it would be a sort of a half-step, upgrading from a 600D. Better to just keep shooting, I think.
I need to update my DSLR (Mines only picture capable lol Olympus e-410). What's the best MANUAL video capable DSLR? Looking to buy something for the filming side more than taking picture side. Any recommendations are welcomed.
Hi I want to know does the Canon T3i overheat like the T2i???
That is one bad thing about the T2i that no one is talking about, I even went to a website where a lot of professionals that are using Canon 7D is overheating.
@DigitalRevCom What's the reference of your lav' mic?
How can i get good audio quality with a 600d? Would you record seperately, or does the audio sound well if i combine a 600d with a rode videomic pro? (Have neither of those but don't want to buy before im sure about the audio)
they have mics on them
what camcord did you used to record this film?
How do you manually change F-Stop with the Canon T3i in movie mode?
so, for filming skate and serious short films, I should go with the 600D?
What microphone setup did you use please for the video?
@Land3s3295 i own a 60D myself while my friend has a t3i and ive used both and say that i would rather use the 60D for 3 reasons 1) shaper autofocus, very important for sports and action shots. 2) the 60D shoots more frames per second at 5.6 fps 3) it as a photo DSLR is very good for photos and if u use an L lens feels much better then an L lens on a 60D but the best if you can get for sports is 1D or a 7D
do you ever run into overheating with the t3i while filming?
same man, i think ill go with the 600d. way better value imo. and the differences arent that significant. if i was really into photographing moving objects, id upgrade significantly, instead of a measly 2fps when shooting.
just got the 600d, using it for my youtube, loving it!
@aliciabiatch he's trying the DIGITAL ZOOM of the cam in this video. when the video mode is not using the digital zoom, it's lot better than 60D.
600D and 24-105
is that a good combo?
i wonder if this is a all round purpose combo
600D and use that extra 100 to go towards a lens if you're leaning more towards video. If you're more into sports photography. in that case i'd say the 60D.
thanx for the reply..i searched over the internet..it says canon doesn't provide any company seal for the sake of the retailers (returning and re-selling stuffs)..thats bad for the customers..
Hi, i just buy the canon 600d for videos and what is the best lens for videos?
I really want to know the song at 1:20 .. please !
What camera did you use to shoot the film is the question
@turfmono I think it was the 24-105mm L series lens.
did you guys use the kit lenses?
does the 60D have the crop factor feature as well?
@lebchiri Yes, but being that the SDCards are formatted with fat32 the maximum file size is 4gb, 12mins at 1080p. The camera will just create a new file.
what did you film this video with?
What lenses did you use in this video?
Have you done an update with the 700D v 70D?
70d
would the 60d be a good camera for me to get for high school sports and action shots?
I've got the 600D and rented the 60D, and to be honest, because the 600D is lighter, smaller, thinner, and has a cooler shutter sound, I think that the 600D is a more fun camera but for a more serious photographer the 60D is a great choice.

@7:05 what's the accessory on top of the Canon 60D?
yeeah please tell me what lens do you used in the canon 600d?? is the 18/135 mm??
So apart from the 8 more focus points, less shutter lag, 1/8000 shutter speed, faster fps, larger battery life, build quality and weather sealing. How exactly is the 600D better or even "near equal"?
the video was filmed with the canon 600 d, that should answer your question. This video is based on photography alone.
Does the 600D with a maximum of 60fps video make a huge difference in slow-motion over the 60D with only 50fps max?
Can you guys do a video for Tarmon 17-50 vs Canon 17-40? Thanks
Hello! Great review! I use Canon Sx530hs but i planning to buy a new camera. I'm thinking about Canon SX60hs. What do you think about this camera?
Do you guys Lok was able to hear the audio from Kai through the mic when he was standing that far away at 6:08?
I think that the 600D is what most people are going for simply because it's a substantially cheap dare I say Entry level camera which a lot of people are using to start on. Myself included. however, it wouldn't surprise me if they then at least tried the 60D and fell in love with it.
Just wondering but does the camera man use the manual focus when using the 600D? I'm a noob.
