The examples seem to support the simple Permanent/Temporary categorization, with an exception about the state of being dead. There is far less to remember that way.
Rylan of News In Slow Spanish gave a great explanation for English speakers to understand the difference between ser and estar. He said to not think of it as the difference between 'permanent' and 'temporary', but instead to think of it as the difference between 'essence' and 'condition'. And I find that his explanation really helps me a lot to understand how Spanish uses these verbs. It certainly helps to explain why we use 'estar' with 'muerto', because death, although permanent, is best thought of as a condition and not an essential description of someone. After all, that person used to be alive and full of life at one point, and then it changed. Their condition changed, but not their essence. Make sense?
Gracias por la lección .. but.. how is ser used with location!?? I thought it would be Estar e.g When she said... La fiesta es en mi casa.. wouldn't it be La fiesta esta en mi casa....... Why? Because estar is used for location... E.g Estoy en mi casa
Great question Steven!! We only use SER with location when we're talking about the location of an event and when you basically can replace it with 'takes place' or 'it's taking place'. for example: la fiesta es en mi casa (the party is taking place in my house), el concierto es en el estadio del centro (the concert is taking place in the stadium in the city). Es banco es en la plaza (the bank is taking pace in the square?? X) as you can see in the last example with the bank it doesn't make sense to replace it and that is because the bank is not an event. I hope this helps to understand how we use ser for locations only with events Steven
I’m sorry but music in the background is really distracting. It’s quite loud and takes away from your great otherwise material. Please take my comment into consideration when making new videos. Thank you gracias.
Because for everything related to an event (including the location), we user Ser. It's the exception of the rule (we explain in the lesson). Maybe watch it again and you'll see other examples
@@HolaSpanish Muchas gracias! I have been watching all the videos of Spanish beginners and they are all very useful! It's been 28 days learning Spanish, I have still a lot to learn!

Music is not good🎧🎼😢😢pls without music
The party is at my place. This sentence talks about location then why did you use the ser here and not estar???
