What are you guys thinking about this upgrade? I personally don't think it's worth the purchase alone, but in motion - especially with unlocked frame rate with VRR support - it does look and run better. Would this make you play the game again or nah? - Aaron
The game already ran better on ps5 with the free upgrade.
Eh graphically they are 99% identical, which is admittedly disappointing. All the extras included are cool, However.. No Return is so much fun! I'm addicted to it right now.
I have played through this game 4 times on Ps4; and it only got better every time! This is hands down the most realistic looking game that I've ever played; so my brain won't allow me to not try the Ps5 version!
-If anyone that has actually played both versions so far, willing to discuss what some of the key differences are; and how well they enjoyed the Ps5 version?
I really wasn't expecting much of an improvement but I'm blown away with how gorgeous this game looks. The adaptive triggers and haptics are a nice touch. Can't put the game down again. This is my third playthrough 10/10
I've played through this game at least like six times. One of my favorites of all time. It's incredible how it looked before, and this just feels like the cherry on top. The textures are much better, which was probably the closest thing to a visual flaw I could find before. The haptic feedback adaptive triggers are really fun, I especially like the additions in cutscenes. I'm just so happy to play this again, it almost feels like it did the first time. Absolute masterpiece.

The biggest difference I noticed was the ending. When Ellie and Abby fight, the water is a bit more greenish like realism. And the blood looks more real. And Abby doesn’t have a weird light reflection in the ps4 version
The shadow quality is what stands out to me the most, but any changes are definitely overall very subtle. The real incentive for the $10 is the extra content, I just see the minor visual improvements as a plus.

I think this makes a case for more games to target 1440p with better quality assets and shadows rather than worrying about hitting native 4k. As others have pointed out, you really have to look very hard to see the difference. I thought it would be more obvious.
Playing the game right now and its actually pretty noticeble the difference between 1440p and 2160p

Its really noticeable if you are playing it. TH-cam compression loses a lot of detail
You're not gonna be able to tell the difference on youtube, but if you're still gaming on 1440p, I'd recommend staying there vs. upgrading to 4k. You only start noticing the differences between 2k vs. 4k after you've upgraded to 4k. It's kinda like RT. It's hard to notice the differences initially, but once you've been playing RT games for so long, it's hard to go back.

Its not darker, shadows are rendered much better and what appears would be normal from the source lights. Also the skin and backgrounds look much better. Is it worth 10? Probably....anymore and there wouldnt be a benefit. Watch the fire scene and how well the fire flickers.
Foliage looks a lot smoother, and foliage lighting is more natural. It’s most apparent in the yellow straw valley

It seems darker, but at the same time, clearer, like for instance, when you were on the horse Galvin towards the sun, about to get into village on the PS4 version it was like blinding on the PS five it was like a perfect shot, and like the sun beaming towards you off, the mountains, was like more Life like and did anyone else see Ellie in the astronaut suit? It looks really. Detailed in the post apocalyptic time like this and seeing some random person in astronaut suit with guns to the nines, I honestly would just spot them and just let them go lol who knows lmao but hey this game was a treat three years ago and it’s even more of a treat now especially for 10.98 us well worth it for the upgrade and all the new features. If it’s anything like the last of us one remake, this is gonna be amazing. I remember people saying that the last of us one did the remaster. It didn’t have all the features that last of us two had so it was lacking in some areas so in a sense this is like the perfect hunt and gun game, and every once in a while if I get mad, I’ll just turn infinite ammo and crafting on so I can just blow up a few waves of bad guysjust to get it off my chest😂😂😂 dam smart enemies one person was so into getting me. They crouch down and followed me until I was about to make a shot on someone else, and they just shot me at Point Blank range I forgot I think I died instantly or I was very close. I was pisssed lol
If people are struggling to tell the difference, apart from darkness which u can adjust at the beginning ( duh ) . Watch the last clip and watch the detail in the wheat as she walks through it.

If I've got tlou 2 installed on my ps5 after paying for the remaster will I have to download the whole game again? Use my phone hotspot for internet so can't go hard on data.

I think you need to go pixel peeping to really notice the differences. I find there to be more detail in the ground, foliage, and textures, but obviously these are pretty minimal things when you are running around popping headshots! Although I do personally find the lighting to be a bit more realistic in this version - Aaron

Looks a lot better, especially in the lighting, shadows and draw distance. Way more detail too in environments
They should have named this directors cut or something along those lines. If you already have the og version the new content is well worth the 10 bucks. Currently on my 4th playthrough and the director's commentary is quite fascinating.

There's not much of a difference to be honest. It just looks and performs 'slightly' better. The only difference is the improved loading speed and that rogue-like mode with some silly costumes. But hey, if you own the PS4 version, then you won't be missing out on much. However, that $10 PS5 upgrade seems pretty decent, at least.
Loading speed and slightly better draw distance, haptics and a horde mode that I wouldn't bother with. I will just stick with the game with the free upgrade. It looks great anyway.
Forgetting the unlocked frame rate getting over 100fps is like butter

I'd convinced myself that I was just going to buy this until I actually saw it. I don't see a reason for it, for me. It literally looks like the same game on a slightly better monitor to me.

The new mode alone justifies it, but also playing on a 4k OLED will be a completely different experience. Fidelity mode on 40+ fps 🎉

I always thought if they remade this game it would look photorealistic with new physics, AI and everything. But now being in the 3rd year of the new console generation I’m not surprised that they just upped the resolution and added a mode where you can play as the npc’s smh. I bought the upgrade but I barely touch it because there’s only minimal changes and I’m essentially playing the same exact game.

Not life a changing difference but I do think the lighting and shadows are significnatly better.
This remaster doesn’t make sense like the ps3 to ps4 remaster did.

Just look at the surrounding there is a difference. Watch on 4k HDR TV for more better understanding
They should've just called it the Definitive Edition or just $10 dlc with a native ps5 version. "Remastered" seemed unnecessary, and still no PC edition? Also that No Return mode could easily run on ps4, which makes no sense not to include.

Some scenes look similar, and then the farm, inside the forest, water effects and fire are big steps up. But remember its a remaster not remake and the upgrade gives you far more thsn just graphics

I'm really disappointed with the TLOU2 remastered version. It's not a huge change compared to TLOU 1 remaster version. I noticed in TLOU 1 remastered little details were added that I loved. For example, when you throw a Molotov into high grass, it burns and leaves burning ashes. Also, they added more debris when it comes to using explosives in closed areas like rooms, kitchens, etc. I know to some, that really doesn't matter, but I like replaying the campaign with the mods on blowing stuff around my surroundings. I was hoping in TLOU 2 Remastered version, they would have done the same. It's the little details for me that make the difference. Does anyone else feel the same?

This whole "remaster" is an unnecessary cash grab. They should have just released the extra content as like $10 DLC, and given the game a next-gen update. It only makes sense for when it comes out on PC.

I think ppl are confusing remaster and remake. Remasters are typically just your res bump and fps boost. Remake well is just that. TLOU2 was already a great looking game and with Fidelity mode being native 4K it’ll look a lot sharper.
The Ps4 version looks better than any game released on the Ps5! What happened to graphics being important in games?

If you have a 120hz display with vrr you can get 40-50 fps at 4k

PS5 generally looks worse, just looks darker, & the horse galloping at speed-the grass had more motion blur which looked unnatural. Seems like upscaling & HDR are total hoaxes & this whole gen was not ready for release & was only pushed out to beat each other to the punch when they legit could have used covid time to delay & come out with a much more powerful console on both sides.
You're not looking at the pure details. There's lots of scenes that look more clearer and better when it's darker. You just think simple.

To truly see the difference you need to play this on an OLED TV. ontop. TH-cam looks good but don't compare to the real deal. Ps4 was beautiful. The updated PS5 is just WILD. You'll get lost in it
