    This is great - thanks so much. I had tried my first filter just with a wood screw but no way was it shifting. You can hear the crack in your video as the basket seal breaks which shows how tight they are. Totally agree they need to come out so the injector can be back flushed Thanks again

    I see a lot of fuel injector videos on here using gum out or seafoam poured in an ultrasonic cleaner with a fuel injector battery pulse to open and close the valve automatically. Watching your video...I believe it's best to replace the filter rather than clean it.

    Good instruction video, easy to follow. The only thing I would do and use and have used differently is the small hammer, I wouldn't use a brass headed one but an aluminum headed one on these tiny delicate brass filter baskets. Brass on brass there isn't any shock absorbing factor there, basically hard against hard, the aluminum on brass has a cushioning factor going for it. The aluminum is shock absorbing. I'm not sure if you can buy them, I make my own of different head sizes as I have a machine shop. I'm not saying not too use brass but you will notice the difference using an aluminum driver/hammer and you won't markup or damage the brass surfaces as an extra bonus. Again thanks for the video.😎

    I tried to rebuild the injectors on my sedan years ago and did more harm than good since that was before I decided to just not cheap out and not buy the special tools (for many things not just this), especially because of how many dollars I’ve damage I’ve done trying to save money on tools. Maybe my injectors are the cause of my 98 XJ getting about 6mpg (hey didn’t you make the AW4 flush video? That was the best video for that job). Hopefully at least 2 or 3 injectors are okay mechanically because the rebuild kit was $20, not that that’s a bad price at all!

    Hi martin, another great and timely vid for me. I'm doing my filters tomorrow. One question though...do you think using my arbor press to install them would be better than striking them with a hammer. My thought is, it would be more controllable and less "abusive?" (For lack of a better word) than a hammer. Thank you for all the great wisdom you give us.

    • @martinbuilt

  • @tsmith578
    @tsmith578 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Martin, since you have a fair amount of experience with cleaning, testing and replacing parts on fuel injectors.
    I was wondering if you could maybe tell me if you ever tried different styles of pintle caps on fuel injectors, and if so have you noticed any specific or significant difference between the spray patterns with different ones.
    I am going to be swapping out some single hole injectors for some four hole injectors
    In a ZJ with the 4.0 engine.
    And I am wondering if it would be better to use the flat washer style pintle caps, or the cone style pintle caps.
    The Bosch type three injectors fit either style pintle caps, but since the ZJ never came stock with type three injectors, I am interested in knowing what might work best.
    And if you don't have any experience with this, maybe I just give you a idea of what to do on a Saturday when you want to learn something new.
    Thank you.
    Tim from Wisconsin

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, you're not gonna see much if any difference whatsoever with a different style of pintle cap. As long as you're not using the ones from the single hole injectors.
      The only thing about the ones with the flat type style washers. Just make sure they fit properly into the intake manifold.
      Thank you for watching.

    What do you do when the brass piece is stuck

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  ปีที่แล้ว

      See if you can find a wood screw that has a chorus thread that will fit properly. I used to use those to do the same thing as the tool does.
      Then lock the screw into a bench vice and pull on the injector

    Will these filters work for my 2006 durango 4.7 flex fuel? I bought all new injectors from advance and they came with no filters...

      I have seen injectors without filters and those have really big openings and the filter baskets are much smaller.

    Thank you for the film. I have 2 injectors which are of somewhat different type, like shown in this film.
    4x New Fuel Injectors for 2001-2002 Saturn SW2 SL2 SC2 1.9L I4 25178967 25178968
    4Pcs Fuel Injectors For 2003-2005 Pontiac Sunfire Chevy Cavalier 2.2L 832-11211
    I have the filter baskets same as shown in this film, but I see they will go through the top opening, kind of fell into the hole. Pls could you tell how to change the Basket Filters in those injectors. The filters are sitting deep inside. I ordered that tool the film is about, but don't know if it can be used on that type of injectors. I bought another type of injectors for the same car (2001 Saturn SL2), which are
    SET OF 4 ROCHESTER FUEL INJECTOR 1996-2001 SATURN DOHC 1.9L L4
    on those same basket filters, but the injectors' sockets are different than original ones, so I'd better stay w/original type for right now. And in general it would be good to know what Basket Filters to buy and how to replace them on those injectors w/larger top inlets. Thank you again.

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It kind of sounds like you didn't actually remove any filter baskets .some injectors don't have filter baskets to begin with.. I have seen fuel injectors that come with no filter baskets.

    • @olenaerhardt7725
      @olenaerhardt7725 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@martinbuilt Thank you so much for the replay. I also started to think that maybe those filters have filter baskets built in or no filter baskets at all (but that looked kind of strange to me, since everyone is replacing those filter baskets). No, I didn't remove any filter baskets from those injectors, just looked inside: below, like in the middle of the height of the injector it looks like some structure similar to the filter basket, but maybe it is smth else, just certain design and no basket at all. Thank you again for you opinion, I was just guessing, good to know that the injectors w/no filter baskets exist, most likely the ones I have are of that type. I've cleaned the original Saturn injectors, replaced o-rings and can install them now without looking for those filter baskets, especially a new set (for future or smth) of injectors for Saturn has exactly same design.
