I love the build and modify as you go approach. If you haven't already figured it out, you will find that grinding the mill-scale off the steel and beveling the edges you are welding will give you cleaner and stronger welds.
I’ve been promising myself I’ll build a swing away for my spare when I’m camping. Happy with inside the rest of the time. The pivot will be an old trailer stub axle so it’ll be a one arm job with the hub turning on two wheel bearings. Should be plenty strong enough.
Nothing wrong with plan as you go engineering or carpentry. You had a solid plan in your head and modified on the run! Great job great video. Next time you get a harbor freight coupon go ahead and buy yourself a 110 1/2-in drill. You can drill hole after hole, large diameter holes with ease, mixed drywall mud, mixed concrete... Etc.
Yeah, finally someone that puts the tire on the correct side of the truck for better visibility.
An organized space has more room to work.
Thank you! I put some thought into that aspect yeah
Excellent video!
I really appreciate leaving in all the oopsies. We all do it. It's how we recover from the mistakes that matters. Well done!
Thank you man! Not trying to mislead anyone and I definitely am not a pro haha. No where close!

Nice that sounds like it'll be sweet
This was great! You just proved it doesn't have to be perfect for it to work! Now I will do my own. YOLO!
Would love to hear how it goes!
Nice work👍 thinking of doing this to my 90 Prado
Go for it!! Hope it’s straightforward enough of a video for you
That's badass! Looking to build the same setup for my K5 blazer. Do you have a good link for rhe hinge kit and jerry can holder?
Nevermind i just realized you had links lol sorry.
Bro you’re gonna kill somebody with that weld , god bless their souls
@@aramlopez1004 since the initial fab, I had my father in law help out and add beads to strengthen everything
근데 후방카메라는 어떻게 하나요 스페어 타이어 케레어는 후방키메라 없는 차만 장착 가능합니까?
No you could in theory relocate the camera and do it to any framed vehicle
where did you buy the hinge? any link ty
Check the description ;)
Nice man... what welding are you using or recommend?
It’s a stick welder on Amazon but for this project, mig might be the move. I’ve had good luck with Amazon welders for the most part tho
Get a Miller stick welder, the difference is night and day!
@@theanonymousjondoeI love my Miller mig welder. It's kind of a big boy thing.

KITTED OUT
Ayyy thanks man!!!
Most folks don't do it, but disconnect the negative battery post when welding on the frame!
That’s true! An easy 3 minute thing to have peace of mind
