    I think it’s great that you’re sharing this info with DIYers when you could easily keep it to yourself and sell the product instead. The video also really spoke to me because you described all the options you considered for carrying your full size spare tire; it’s an issue I’m currently dealing with as well. Keep up the good work!

      @@edwinperalta8977 Unfortunately I just offer kits. I just don’t have the logistics or space to handle full on welded tire carriers. (maybe one day when I get a a dedicated bigger shop)
      One other option you may want to consider would be to get the kit and ask local fabricators to weld this up. It should cost somewhere $300-$500 in labor. Others that have purchase the kit and don’t have the tools have gone that this path.

    Mate I love how you prototyped this build using the wooden model with adjustments, well done. Your easy skill in explaining the process was both informative & entertaining to watch. It also (along with the other parts to this video) show me why the commercial versions of this style of tire carrier are all over $1K, given the fabrication involved, although I suspect your version is way better thought through & built.

      After thinking about it a few minutes, I’m really liking this design, can’t wait for you to post the rest! A few suggestions:
      1. Patent this use.
      2. Reverse the weld from welded stud, to welded nut, then carry the bolt all the way through like the bike did. That way it can be tightened, or removed from the opposite side (exterior of the car vs underneath).
      3. Cut the bolt head off and weld on a locking lug nut head. This will lock your unit on as well.

    Interesting idea with the wobble system. Did you consider at all using a longer bolt out the front so that it could be tightened without going under the truck?

    • @RathaSochenda
      @RathaSochenda  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks I sort did… the issue is the safety pin gets in the way when you go through the front. And also I’m not a big fan on running a long extension through the receiver and trying to get the proper bolt torque (100ftlbs. Also longer bolt means stretch in the bolt make it weaker unless you compensate with a larger OD bolt. The advantage of fastening it from the back is that as you tighten the nut it removes also the slack of the safety pin which makes everything even tighter. Hope that makes sense 🤙🏾

      @NickWhite630 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello, do you have build plans that will work for a 4th gen ram 2500?

    • @RathaSochenda
      @RathaSochenda  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Should work. You will just need to adjust a few parameters I mention in the video series

  • @tannerhull7192
    @tannerhull7192 ปีที่แล้ว

    3”x1.5” square tubing is not a common size near me so would have to order in an entire 20’ft piece which that alone would cost me $150. So just make sure everything is available before deciding on building lol

    • @RathaSochenda
      @RathaSochenda  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m sorry that you don’t have it in your area. Have you tried searching online. There should be a few places you can order a small amount. Or you can also get to make 2x2 work as well.
