In fallout 3's you have to follow a giant robot as it does all the killing (not an option, you side with brotherhood, choices be damned!). And then you get two glorious options for your final enemy. Shoot him, or tell him to leave and he just goes "Okay".

There's a reason they made you play Phantom Pain's beginning again: a new appreciation for it. It's the same thing with a paper, introduce a thesis, support it with facts, and then say the thesis again in the conclusion. You get a better understanding because now you know why the thesis is there in the first place, same for the level. If you people have any appreciation for a story and the character Snake, maybe you'd understand that.
İskender Çağlar well no, it’s worth finishing ,if not for anything else just so you can keep playing after and fuck around. I won’t explain it to you, finish it and you’ll see.
I don’t think the ending is disappointing but so much angering. It was either you do all that just to leave and let him stay, or you capture him but he sets off a nuke, everybody dies but you and him, and you’re taken into the bunker. There’s no happy ending
I'd argue it was, MGS is the a franchise that gave us such epic and memorable finales such as escaping Shadow Moses, the sword fight atop the Washington Monument, Snake killing the Boss, and Snake vs Liquid, so for the final game in the franchise, that promised to explore how Big Boss became a monster, to end out of nowhere by making players go through the tutorial again only to unveil a twist most people had already figured out when Ground Zeroes released was a major disappointment.
Deathlygunn I agree. Nothing was changed in the ending besides seeing that this Snake was actually the character you created at the beginning in the mirror. Very underwhelming
How was it obvious...? Narratively, it was great, but yeah, we could’ve skipped the part where you’re just crawling at the very least. It’s not an exciting final level but the build up to the reveal was awesome, in my opinion.
Little tip concerning the vertical blade pillars in God Of War: if you find a gap where no blades are rolling through, you can let go of the analog stick and Kratos will just hug the corner of the wall he's rolling towards without getting hurt, this will give you a chance to catch your breath, also, unless ABSOLUTELY necessary, DO NOT do a wall jump!

It’s pretty much common knowledge that the reason Halo 2 ended with the Arbiter was because Bungie ran out of time and had to cut the last level of the game where you play as the Chief. the cool thing about GOW was that it was not easy but very enjoyable experience... you would almost lose it in GOW 1 in several parts, but it was so satisfying finishing the game. It is not meant to be easy, grow up people who are expecting a movie.
Partially agree with the hospital sequence. The first time we played it it was awesome imo but the second time is just more than an hour of slow paced content we already know which leaves the actual great ending with a bitter taste... I think a small intro summary with 1-2 minute sequences and "fast forwarding" would have been much better
Mass Effect is my favorite sci-fi/fantasy after Star Wars and Star Trek. That's how much I loved ME trilogy, characters and the lore behind it. And after experiencing one of the greatest final showdowns of video games history in ME 2, the finale of ME 3 was unbelievably disappointing. I was expecting to command the attack fleet we spend so much time getting together, lead the final ground strike at Earth etc. like the previous game's Collector Base finale, but so much bigger. Instead we got a typical enemy waves of shootouts over and over again with no strategic decisions whatsoever. I still love ME, %95 of it is great, but that finale %5 part tainted the trilogy's reputation. Such a shame. Also I don't see Mass Effect: Andromeda as a sequel to that trilogy. Because by the time they started making it almost all the creator team behind the trilogy left Bioware. So its just a pathetic attemp to cash in by using ME's name and the game's quality showed it. It's like a blockbuster franchise's direct to video spin-off that nobody cares.
I get that you don't like replaying the first mgsv mission at the end of the game, but saying the level was terrible??? Everybody loves the first hour of that game
I didn't hate the final level for Halo 2 but I was definitely surprised on how short the game was. Felt like the halfway point my first time playing it.
I don't agree. The mass effect 3 ending level was amazing, because the battle is more chaotic and challenging than maybe any other mass effect level ever, and where it takes place in the story, it should be. And then replaying that opening Phantom Pain level is monuments because it totally changes how you see the game's story and the opening because of the new stuff showcased, and things that you now pay attention to, that you didn't when you first played the opening. It's so well done.
Halo 2? No, the Great Journey was a great level that rounded off the Arbiter’s character arc very well. I can see it being the most disappointing in the franchise, but it is not bad by any means. Also, this level concluded Arbiter’s character arc, which is definitely the greatest in Halo history. I’m not surprised to see the top comments talking about Halo at all.
God of War's Hades wasn't disappointing. It was annoying and tedious with the feeling they ran out of ideas so they covered that by making the level so monotonously repetitive and difficult you'd be too busy dodging blades that you wouldn't notice.
People complained about the Arbiter ??? The entire point of Halo 2 was about the Elites, their revolt and how The Arbiter became one of the most badass character in all of gaming. Who actually complained about that ???
For DKC3, if you ever reached that far, then you are probably not a kid. It's just very difficult to get 100% (well, technically over 100%). Also, for MGS5, it's Kojima, the biggest troll but it was satisfying to get the reveal. It wouldn't feel natural if they skipped to the last part. After all, after dozens of hours, you probably will want to re-play the level. It's the only one that you don't touch over and over like the others.
I actually liked the endings for New Vegas, Kotor II and ME3 (Ext. Cut). For that matter, You didn't even put up the actual final missions for AC:Revelations and God of War. The last Revelations mission is Masyaf (admittedly an extended walking mission about wrapping up Ezio and Altair's stories, but still) and the last God of War level is the fight with Ares.
MGSV was an epic conclusion to the franchise. I'm glad HK got to finish it. If you haven't followed MGS storyline since the begining I don't expect you to like it or understand why it's great.
Man, I forgot about Revelations and God of War’s irritating final levels, though Santa Monica didn’t learn and did a similar level in Ascension. Mass Effect 3’s final level was just a mistake. Seems like Bioware just gave up on ME3.
The hospital level in MGS5 is not tedious at all... when you play it at the beginning of the game. it's a really smart tutorial. Also how could you possibly say that MGS5 had a satisfying conclusion when there's at least an entire chapter missing???
There's nothing of Fallout: New Vegas (FALLOUT Series), Halo 2 (Halo Series), Assassin's Creed: Revelations (Assassin's Creed Series), and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Series of everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I strongly disagree with WatchMojo on Fallout. If for no other reason Fallout 3's last mission was taking a stroll along side an invincible robot that stole all my kills.
*sigh* fair enough. I didn't like crawling though that hospital in mgsv, but if I have to do it, I will do it. Need the patience to get the foxhound codename anyway.
The phantom pain mission your talking about is brilliant, detailed ,and oddly satisfying. Replaying a mission during the story progress sucks... true, but don’t attack the mission.
Because a fight between Tartarus and Chief would be completely devoid of any drama. To chief he just a bigger tougher brute. You would have to leave out the alliance between Johnson and Arbiter leaving his character arc incomplete
I don't think it was the ending, I think it's the whole replaying the hospital scene that was annoying. That and the level when you and quiet have to defend yourself against a trillion heat seeking, sniper ranged tanks without the ability to change your equipment if you thought it was a stealth level.
The Level Hades in God of War 2 reminds me of the new Hellboy 2019 film. The 2019 Hellboy film will be rated R for intense violence and swearing. It is not a family movie.
The only thing that sucked about Halo 2's ending was beating that fucker Tartarus on legendary. Playing as the Arbiter was one of the best things of the game and was a real pleasant surprise back in the day to me, hell I kinda wish we had some Arbiter levels fighting the UNSC and not just Heretics, Flood, and Forerunner Machines.
That was not supposed to be the end of phantom pain, hideo kojima left konami before the second half of the game was done, there is footage of the second part and I think even the final end cutscene.
He put Halo 2 as one of the most disappointing final levels in gaming solely because you play as the Arbiter and not the chief. I don't understand how that ruins the entire finale of the game? Or how that made that level one of the most disappointing levels of all time.

"It was bad enough we had to play as the arbiter at all..."
Why do you hurt my boy like this...?
You guys can make a top 10 out of anything.
I get that you don't like replaying the first mgsv mission at the end of the game, but saying the level was terrible??? Everybody loves the first hour of that game
BEST assassin? listen. Ezio is my second favorite to Arno personally. but my mans can sit the fuck down when Altair comes around.
2:25 You mean summer camp for PSYCHICS? Pumping out so many of these a week must really take a toll on the quality control department.
Mass Effect 3 is fixed by DLCs
god mass effect final mission was really disappointing
The ending of ac revelations was great
I didn't hate the final level for Halo 2 but I was definitely surprised on how short the game was. Felt like the halfway point my first time playing it.
Oh, 'It's bad enough that you had to play with Arbiter throughout the game' , you say?
Do top 5 disappointing endings in 2018 games!
Surprised Superman Returns isn't on the list. You fight a tornado. That's it.
HAL LIFE FINAL LEVEL WAS AMAZING.
Seriously, the moment I found out that I mission 50 in MGSV was the tutorial level all over, I deleted the game and googled the ending...
I know technically not a final level, but the fourth and final race against Canary Mary in Banjo-Tooie. Still have not been able to beat that ever.
God of War's Hades wasn't disappointing. It was annoying and tedious with the feeling they ran out of ideas so they covered that by making the level so monotonously repetitive and difficult you'd be too busy dodging blades that you wouldn't notice.
I think they missed the point of Mass Effect 3's final level.
"about a summer camp for physics"
Did you seriously say physics instead of PSYCHICS?!
Psychonauts = summer camp for physics
Psychonauts, a summer camp for physics.
Gears of war 2... frying the “final boss” with a satellite 3 times
The phantom pain mission your talking about is brilliant, detailed ,and oddly satisfying.
Replaying a mission during the story progress sucks... true, but don’t attack the mission.
What kind of crappy rule is no boss fights? Boss fights ARE levels and ARE parts of levels.
I beat GOW like 6 times, as a 12 year old.... and never thought it was "boring" or "hard"
"The story even comes to a satisfying conclusion..." regarding Phantom Pain?
Did I...Did I play a different game?
Hey... I liked The Arbiter, showed that the Covenant weren't just plain evil and made them more deep in that way.
Because a fight between Tartarus and Chief would be completely devoid of any drama. To chief he just a bigger tougher brute. You would have to leave out the alliance between Johnson and Arbiter leaving his character arc incomplete
I really dont’t get the hate for MGSV, I found the ending to be one of the most shocking in any video game and it was really well done overall.
I don't think it was the ending, I think it's the whole replaying the hospital scene that was annoying. That and the level when you and quiet have to defend yourself against a trillion heat seeking, sniper ranged tanks without the ability to change your equipment if you thought it was a stealth level.
I didnt think the hospital level in MGSV was bad, it’s pretty good. The fact that we had to play it twice was bad though
MGSV's level was great, it's just annoying that you have to replay it. Though if you skip the cutscenes you can beat the level in about 10-15mins.
The hell are you talking about MGS V?
Thr game basically told us we were big boss
Superman returns... Battles a tornado as a final boss
Hating the final level of Halo 2 because you play as the Arbiter? Not the Tartarus boss fight? Oookay Watchmojo
Summer camp for physics lmao, no time for a second take I guess.
Am I the only one that has been dying to see Master Chiefs face?
The Level Hades in God of War 2 reminds me of the new Hellboy 2019 film. The 2019 Hellboy film will be rated R for intense violence and swearing. It is not a family movie.
I think a final level in a game should only be on this list if the final level is anti-climatic in comparison to the rest of the levels.
I kinda wanna put Bendy Chapter 5 on this. It was just so lacking and it had the most confusing twist ending EVER.
Fun fact: Half Life 1's Xen leads to the final boss Nilanth.
That was not supposed to be the end of phantom pain, hideo kojima left konami before the second half of the game was done, there is footage of the second part and I think even the final end cutscene.
it is still the end nonetheless
Hoover damn was bad ass
Want a crazy controversial game ending? Outlast 2!
