Bro built an audience himself and asking us not to.
Everyone in the comments agreeing - are the ones who wanted to and never could - so this video makes them self feel good about themselves.

Having something is better than having none.
Even if your target audience aren't necessarily those that follow you, having an audience builds credibility...
      People trust you more.

Great video, you made my next step easy. I was always focused on building a community to use as a lead magnet, but it makes more sense to build a community of potential users instead of a big list of followers. I used the same approach when starting a B2C business, and it worked.

    One of your best videos.
People forget that B2B SaaS is NOT the same as slinging Gumroad courses.

Great video, as always! I think these ideas you’re sharing are super valuable, but to really get them, you almost need to live through that experience yourself. 😊

Building a network is exactly what I’m doing on LinkedIn, but it’s challenging they are product managers and are always busy.

Busy people always need help! I don't really know about the job of a product manager; what kind of things cause them stress? Is there anything you could do, or anyone you could connect them to, that would make their job easier?

@ I too am an experienced product manager and a was busier than the average product manager. A product manager is essentially a startup founder thats responsible for the success of product/feature.

great video and perfect timing for me. I just built a nice saas product for a specific industry that ive worked in for the last 7 years - other people charge a monthly subscription for it - I was thinking of charging a very appealing one time lifetime payment for it. ($29) Just going to have fun with it and a couple sales might pay for my car fuel every month or somthing :)

Honestly I realized this as soon as I wanted to get followers, if you build in public people that are going to follow are going to be devs, they are not your target audience, so even if you get 10k devs to follow you is not like having 10k of your target audience following you!

Exactly the video I need today. I think I got a bit lost lately and was a bit giving in to the siren song 🧜‍♀️ It also reply to some questions I sent you. Thanks 👍 Still I think those guys clearly use the stairs step method in a way : so not so far from what you say in some ways.

It's not even the "80/20 rule" - it sounds more like the "once in a blue moon" rule.
    To further support Rob's observation:
I've made a fortune investing in real estate, which I began 3 years into my career as a software engineer in Silicon Valley.
So I listen to Grant Cardone, a big real estate investor (he has 15,000 apartments).
Cardone disclosed that his ongoing audience-building nets 1/2 of 1% of his audience who ever buy anything.
He has millions of followers so he probably does well.
But it's an issue of "return on Effort"
Bill Gates spent very little time 'building an audience'
Same with Steve Jobs, the google founders, and so on.
THAT BEING SAID. There is a ton of value in audience building (industry/peer contacts, etc).
Monetizing the audience sounds like a different animal though.

"So this is how I've made a business and sold it for millions. Don't do that. Do entirely different thing instead". If this is not an engagement farming, I don't know what is.
