Wow I tried to reverse engineer the mechanics behind building something over water and gave up after not figuring out the logic over many attempts. Ended up making a series of almost-connected pieces of bridge, it was fugly. Thank you so much for clarifyig the mechanics, I can do beautiful work now!

@@Skarvig yeah it’s a great spot from what we’ve seen so far. Many types of dinos in all direction to keep us busy and many biomes to keep it interesting! Near 50, 50 on the island if I remember correctly (give or take) for anyone else wondering

What if the bridge is VERY high? I can't place ceilings on pillar columns above pillar #84. I need a bridge higher than 84 pillars. I can place more pillars beyond 100 high, but can only build out from pillar 84 and below. Not getting any height limit errors, only 'requires nearby foundation support' error.

@@Nonessentialsquid the friends I play with say it's their favourite map. I've just been trying to finish all the official maps and bosses before I go to the other ones.
It kinda seems unsatisfying to use what appears to be an exploit of the flawed physics in the game to build a bridge. Obviously, it shouldn't be possible to have a platform essentially floating in the air simply because there is a foundation below it.
Id like to see some videos on how to build some proper ramp bridges that look legit. And not some funky floating platform that shouldn't exist.
But wouldn't pillars do the job for the case you described?

Tried building a wooden bridge on water, i have a what appears to be a early dock thing instead because i hadn't pillars unlocked yet. For some reason those floors with the pillar things or whatever you called them, can't be placed on deep water in my game.
I do know there is a height restriction, I tried to build up from the bottom of the deep water once. I don’t know the actual number but let’s say 50 walls up it stopped me building due to a height restriction.

That would be a nice addition, maybe a server setting where you can enable or disable it for your own servers.
Is their anyway to bypass the hight requirement I’m trying to build from herb island to the mainland and I’m stuck
You might be able to with mods, I think S+ even has a setting for how far each foundation can support ceilings. So something like that could bypass the requirements

Yeah, I’m not sure exactly the limit, I once tried to build from the bottom of the water to the surface and had the same problem

I tend to use stairs, you can use the roof as well. Otherwise use the options on the stairs and you can change it to look like a ramp as well.

@@Skarvig it the little islands in the middle of everything there's 2 islands with enough water to have a pin I have a Tek/metal base but it probably doesn't look super cool like most badass builders I made that Tek/metal then the castle near by a stone base then the town close by I used wood to build that base
