@Fanele Boyz, I cannot speak for the rest of the continent; however, we have loads of problems in Nigeria and highly egregious political leadership and overpopulation are the significant ones. Moreover, SA has a more decent standard of living than the average African country but not all. Having said that, there are some problems with Black SAs. They have unfortunately unintentionally imbibed the legacy of White Supremacy which has its legacy from 1948 to 1994. The average Black SA will label an African immigrant to SA who is a heart surgeon-an immigrant (of course that label conveys a negative connotation), whilst the same Black SA will call a Polish who speaks no word of English, uneducated and scrambling for a menial job- an expatriate and that is just one out of a million examples I can cite of how Black SAs were ferociously damaged by events between 1948 and 1994.

so generally South Africans do not like the way most Nigerians in their country behave? I thought the whole issues talked about on the news were just bad media, but this is an eye-opener.
I have no energy to defend against evil, if there are Nigerians doing bad things in your country, please treat them in accordance with your laws.
But please, South Africans should know that most Nigerians are very loving, welcoming, generous and good people if you find the time to really know them.
Nigerians living in South Africa, please try your best to move back home, no matter how bad you think the country is, if you must stay in another country then treat that country and her laws with respect, treat the people like you'd like to be treated. I understand you must hustle and make money, show off and whatnot. but please tone down the bullshits and stop giving Nigeria a bad name.
With all the stereotypes against Nigerians in South Africa, I hope I will still find my queen here. I intend to marry a South African woman, and treat her like a queen.

What annoys me is that it is not only in South Africa that they are doing this but everywhere they go and that also paints a bad image of the whole continent. We would not be so pressed if the good ones would at least acknowledge and call out their own on their wrong doings instead of accusing us of jealousy and lazyness, not forgetting their favorite word, xenophobic. This leads us to being defensive because it seems like they do not care about the damage they are causing.
I personally am afraid of them, the men as I've experienced almost being kidnapped by them which is really a terrible thing to go through. I thank God for the 3 men who saved me even when the guys were trying to make it seem like I was with them and I'm just an angry girlfriend of one of them.

Our everyday life experiences with foreigners has changed dramatically and negatively so, we have a history of foreigners coming to South Africa who contributed positively to the country Portuguese, Italian, Mozambicans, Malawians, Lesotho, Swaziland, in industries such as mining, construction, telecommunications.
Our country was built by both local and foreign labour force, but since ANC was in power they have turned a blind eye on immigration policies and demographic transition policies in favour of ultra liberal policies that are rootedin corrutp relationships with other African countries, hence there such a negative impact on our socio economic landscape, the fact that a few South Africans are married to Nigerian men does not change the narrative, South Africans are not as aloof as many think they are, Nigeria has big cultural issues such as Shakara everyone has to make so much money to entertain the entire village so they can be seen as an ideal husband material, over the years it has become so bad to a point that everything is centered around money, making life nearly impossible for an average guy to live a decent life.
As Africans we should not fool ourselves in an imaginary PAN Africanism without proper socio cultural issues being sorted, we are not just warm bodies, we have cultures to be proud of and thats what makes us different and unique, this notion that we must unite without paying attention to our cultural differences is a recipe for disaster, it will saw hatred and have the opposite effect of what was initially a good initiative,
A country it mot just geographical location, a country is built by its laws, culture, and human rights, it built by strong families active communities, and ultimately you will have a thriving country.
Drugs are an attack on a country as they distabilise the very foundation of a country which is strong family structure, just a walk outside my house are Nigeria men selling drugs openly on the streets, and that is our reality, we cannot sweep that under the capert, Shakara has made Nigerians so daring in thier money making exploits to suicidal level, because to kill someone you have to kill yourself first, the fact that the good one are silent about this speack volumes about them, Dead Dead Dead!

In every country there are good and bad citizens. The difference between SA and Nigeria is that Nigerians are global citizens and well travelled which makes them migratory in nature while we as South Africans we mostly keep within our territory and don't migrate as much. This means that both the best and the worst South Africans you are likely to find within our boarders.
But for Nigerians the best and worst of Nigerians you likely to find outside of Nigeria. For instance the best performing Nigerian community is Nigerian Americans which are the best performing blacks in the USA. But you will also find that countries that have no strong immigration controls like South Africa can get a big portion of the worst ones while the USA because of their strong immigration controls and opportunity pre 2020 attracted the best Nigerians. This is why every other country with relaxed immigration laws is complaining but you will never hear anyone complain about Nigerians in America instead many people envy them as they are a total net positive for that country.
Therefore the feeling that is felt by South Africans is real and not perceived and is because of what I mentioned above and is our own government's fault as a change in immigration policies can cause us to get the best that Nigeria has got to offer as some of the best performing blacks in the world are Nigerians as they are the most populous country in Africa but we end up getting a smaller portion of the best performing ones compared to countries like the USA.
In conclusion, Nigerians are not bad neither are they worse than anyone else and I would argue that even in South Africa there are far more good Nigerians than there are bad ones, but obviously since this is not their country we will feel the bad more since it is most accentuated when it appears on the news since they usually commit crimes that are not commonly committed by ordinary black South African criminals like drug selling and human trafficking.

The biggest problem with some of these South Africa is that they lost their mental bearing due to the devastating impact on their daily lives of years of subjugation to apartheid system of government. I refer to some because in honesty, si many South Africans are good people and cannot find themselves speaking despicable about nigerians in this awful manner. It is not surprising by any means that some of them who talk down on Nigeria are illiterates and unemployed and still do not and cannot fanthom how to extricate themselves from the precariously hopeless situation they are in. More so, they have not even for once travelled to other African countries to experience other cultures and business traditions. Nigerians came to South Africa not to seek employment but to set up businesses and this not only astonished some these South Africans who for God sake depend wholly on their government providing all their needs. That is laziness, lack of focus and inability to think quick out of the box. There is a parable in Nogeria which says "when I am far more intelligent and smarter than you, you will say I am a trickstar" but the reality is that I am smarter and more intelligent than you so whatever Nigerians do baffles and confuses their imagination and they conclude further that Nigerians are indecent. At a period which stigma is yet be erased when it was rumoured that South African girls are all HIV carriers because of the level of prostitution in the country. But Nigerians refused to believe and accept such nonsense because it is sad to simply hold opinion of people when you have not interacted with them. This is to counsel some of these South Africans who describe Nigerians negatively to visit Nigeria, live or work before reaching their conclusion.

I am curious, how many major businesses are owned by South Africans compared to people from non African decent. As an American, I think South Africa gets a bad rap here because we think you guys have lost the pan African dream. But when we see Ghana and Nigeria regardless of how developed SA is, it just feels like SA is made for white people to enjoy, but they attract blacks. I might be wrong but I sense a Stockholm syndrome

    • @elon1547

White ownership isn't going anywhere in South Africa and not every company or business is going to be 100%black owned... Black South Africans have substantial ownership of most of the big businesses in South Africa (it's mixed between black South Africans, white South Africans and foreign investment)... Pan Africanism is delusional the same Nigerians or Africans who push that narrative genocide eachother in their countries but want to come here in SA and tell us about African unity.
