That is awesome. I wish I had of stayed stock and bumpstopped as well as you did when I went to 33's. Low COG for the win. Now at 4.5". The XJ is a great rig but I loved all of the ones I have owned the most when they were stock.(way less expensive)
Next you need to see about Saran Wrap and Eagle Rock. Would love to see a video of those trails. I was happy to see a video like this. Gives me high hopes for my Explorer on 32s.
Jeremy Gibb yes! I will also be doing those trails!! I just need to find the time cause college is taking all of it right now lol but stay tuned will definitely be hitting those trails! 🤙
Jeremy Gibb if I have nothing planned I’m down to join, I also sometimes post when and where I’m hitting trails feel free to follow my Instagram @mike_thrillz
I think this is one of the best ways to modify that Cherokee is actually just to cut the fenders and put bigger tires on it you'll get better wheel travel then you would if you lifted it sometimes.
Nice man. This proves that 33’s can also take on basically any trail as well with the right line and good spotter, especially with no lift needed haha. No summer wheeling since you haven’t uploaded any new ones? I always look forward to your wheeling videos. Keeps me inspired with my 33’s.
Bill Lagudas thanks man! Really appreciate it! 🤙 as far as summer wheeling goes, I was just super busy graduating college and then busy career searching, now work is taking a chunk of my time but things are stabling a bit. I have a summer wheeling one where I hit Liberty trail if you haven’t checked that out already, also I recently hit another trail I’m just working on editing that video so it will be out soon!
Mike Thrillz Awesome bro. I’ve seen all your wheeling videos I have to rewatch them all to give me inspiration with 33’s haha. Keep them coming bro!! Never change your tire size you give me inspiration foreal.
lmao every time I hear you say "gunner" I think why in the fuck would you want him to floor it here lmao. Took me a second to realize youre talking to the dog.
What year is your XJ? What lockers are you running? Have you re-geared the diffs? The Jeep is looking good. Slap a lift on it and it will conquer Chinaman with no problems. I have never been a big Chrysler fan, but they damn sure got it right when they designed and built the XJ's. They can be built to wheel with the best rigs on the trails.Might see you on the trail someday. Take care.
whackajack it’s a 2000, I’m running Spartan lockers front and rear, and no it’s still on stock gearing 😅 and yeah lift will definitely help! I’m just sticking with this till major changes, which depend on budget 🙄 what do you wheel? And hey if your in CO feel free to add me on Ig (mike_thrillz) I’ll see you out in the trails! 🤙
I am in CO. In Pueblo to be exact. I've had more 4 wheel drives over the years than I can remember. lol... The last one, which I just sold yesterday (to a guy in the Springs) was a 91 XJ. Had a Dana 44 in rear with Detroit locker and a Spartan in the front. Was running 33" tires just like yours. Had a 4.5 Rough Country X-Series Suspension Lift on it. Did Chinaman Gulch, Mt Blanca, Eagle Rock/Saran Wrap, China Wall plus a bunch of other gnarly trails this summer. The old XJ ran right with all the other rigs. Most of the other 4x4's we were running with were highly built, big money rigs. A lot of guys look down on Rough Country stuff, But overall I was VERY HAPPY with the 4.5" X series lift. Yep Chrysler done good on the Cherokee's!
I have 3 Jeeps & wife n I have owned around half a dozen in our almost 25 yrs. My current crawl/trail only rig is my JKU but deep down , my fav is our 'cherry' '95 XJ Upcountry that we bought new & is nearing 400,000 us-miles. I mention to insinuate I know a little-bit about Jeeps. When anyone mentions front lockers for the sizes being discussed ( up to 37-40" tires down to sizes around 31-32") , I have to recommend something I've come across for the D30 HP or LP Jeep people out there that changes the whole front autolocker experience; the TorqLocker from Torq Masters. The company that owns & turned around AussieLockers company (& still makes the venerable Aussie lunchbox autolocker , clackity-clack!) in past decade has a solution to all of those annoying front lunchbox locker chrctrstcs (cups that are noisy, moderate strength pins between toothed halves , awkward assembly ...), W/ their patented improvement. Less parts, msny-times greater strength due to keyways versus pins , no cups , no springs. So quiet you don't even know it's there until you engage the front drive. Go to torqmasters dot com & look for it under the JK or any D30 . Read reviews and watch their video. It is a true game changer. Just spreading some knowledge about this fine, little known about , fabulous US manufactured and own business that treats customers so well. Anyone looking for locking of a D30 or D60 front should 100% include speaking w/ Cora or Erik . Call or hit them up on Facebook/Instagram. @TorqMasters👍🏻😉
I've always wanted a simple "safari" looking vehicle and always leaned toward the XJ over a disco or a trooper etc. I live in FL so I was wondering if something simple like you have but maybe on 31 or 32 and a winch would get me to some fun?
Robert West Yeah definitely! I would go 32s you still have to do some minor trimming, probably not as drastic as mine, if your going no lift or you can lift it a little. With lockers and if you already plan to get a winch you’d be well set!
Jim Derksen yes I have lockers! Front and rear. I love these tires!!! Their great off road! I don’t daily drive the Jeep, but every now and then I do take it out on the street, and their really good basically no tire roar at all, but xjs are really light too... the heavier the rig you’ll get more tire roar. As far as wear goes, like I said I daily drive it, I only take it up to trails and all tires seem to wear really good and take loads of abuse at trails. Love them definitely recommend 🤙
gainzbydanny Ramirez tires are super quiet, but at the same time xj don’t way much, people have said that once you put some weight like in jk’s you get some tire roar but not much
Learning to drive on the 33s will make you a better driver than if you had gone bigger. I would say you need a bit more confidence in "reading the trail" and staying in the throttle longer in many of the obstacles. When you lose momentum, it takes more traction to get things moving again. Looks like you should be pleased with the work you've done.
Jerry Smith yeah i was being light on the throttle as the whole set up is new and didn’t know how the stock components where gonna react with the 33s but I agree with you, looking back at film I saw some spots where I should’ve stayed with it longer. With more wheeling I’ll have better confidence in what my rig is capable of it’s just a matter of seat time now.
@@MikeThrillz Hey, we all have to learn. I did that back in about 1966 and still learn new tricks. Learning to KNOW where all four tires track going straight and in turns seems to be the best way to learn. As you drive a trail, pick non-lethal rocks in the trail and try to just touch the rock with the inside and outside sidewall of each tire WITHOUT looking out the window. When you get to within 1" of the rocks consistently, your confidence and wheeling will improve greatly. I've practiced this for over 40-years and I don't have to wonder what I'm going to hit or miss.
Mike Thrillz wow, must have a hell of a steering set up. I’m currently running the IRO 1 ton OTK steering with the IRO 3-link. Flexes great, I haven’t had pump fail on me yet so maybe they just wine🤷🏼♂️
Jon Kern it could use a lift but I’ll run this setup for a while see what all it can do, so far the only issues is approach angle which can be fixed with a bumper, and high-centering which can be fixed with more throttle 😈 haha
I'd do at least a 3 inch and you should be fine when you do lift it. It'll keep it low enough you'll have a better center of gravity and high enough you won't bottom out on stuff. My buddy has 33s and a 3 inch on his and goes everywhere. My old one had a 4 inch and 31s my current setup is a 3 inch on 31s but I'm going 4.5.
Jon Kern on 3in I would probably go with a 37s but at that point it’ll involve axel swaps and custom built suspension which will be farther down the road
What's with people letting their dogs run crazy on trips like this? Then always getting onto them... Time and a place for everything. Yes I have a dog. **Still gave a 👍

You should show your recoveries when you guys get stuck that’s more content makes it more interesting at least that’s something I want to see
Do you have lockers? How do those 33s handle on pavement?
I am doing a 2 1/2inch spacer lift and 245 75 r16 on my wj for starters.

That Jeep is a beast💪🏽
Good driving! Nice job.
This makes me feel better about the 2" budget boost and 31s Im going to be putting on mine. Then I just need skid plates and Im ready to go play.
Joseph Santana don’t forget lockers before light bars!!! Lol
Without lockers there is no way a stock height XJ can do this trail...
Give that Jeep some power steering fluid!
James Edmister that’s my supercharger! Lol jk it has some, pump is just going out 😕
what rims are those? Id love to get a pair on my xj
How’s the noise on the tires riding on the street??
gainzbydanny Ramirez tires are super quiet, but at the same time xj don’t way much, people have said that once you put some weight like in jk’s you get some tire roar but not much
I dont understand how you fit 33s on it lol I got 31s and I rub way to much now I want t ok put a 3 inch lift and keep the 31s no lift rn though
Patrick Pat it’s just bringing out the ol grinder and BFG 😉 lol check out my other videos, filmed all the phases of getting the 33s on! 🤙

Lockers! If weren’t locked you would’ve had a bad day lol
Hey how are you I would like to join your club I have a Cherokee sport xj 2001 with 33
How many inches of bump stops did you use for rear and front?
Henry Lima for the from just two hockey pucks and the read I just used the stock bump stop with DPG bumpstop plates
MIKE FIX THAT HEADLINER BRO..IT'S EASY..
MOHICAN SON I know! 😅 just been putting it off, thinking of doing some starlight Rolls Royce shit on this shit box 😅😅😅 lol
Do you have lockers on your jeep
Yeah! Spartan front and rear🤙🏽
Did the pump make it threw the trip?
Comanche Fun it actually did! Lol mater fact still in the Jeep but I plan to swap it soon
Mike Thrillz that’s awesome, mine is new and still whines with 35’s. I’m thinking of doing the Durango swap with a HD support plate.
Comanche Fun i was planning on doing the same but I see some people running the stock with 37s completely fine lol idk how!? Lol

Comanche Fun probably, although my is going out for sure cause I have a leak 😂
Try airing your tires down next time
tyler bennett I did air down, I was running 10psi
It didn’t look like you did try 5 next time or 3
tyler bennett I’ll probably try 5psi next time, but I think that’s pushing it without bead locks
When are you getting lockers?
tyler bennett it already has lockers
Poor steering pump lol
That thing needs a lift buddy. I'm surprised it works as well as it does with just lockers and 33s.
