  • Paul Childerley and Jonny Muston pack an Air Arms S410 and an S510 to go rook shooting. It's the time of year when young rooks are easy to shoot on branches as they muster the gumption to fly. These 'branches' make excellent eating. Find out how Paul and Jonny get on.
    ▶ To go shooting with Paul, email paul@childerleysporting.co.uk
    ▶ R&K Stockcraft's website is rkstockcraft.co.uk/
    ▶ Both Paul and Johnny are using Air Arms airguns www.airarms.co.uk

    The age old .22 Vs .177 argument.. does make me think about changing my .22 PCP. I have a good .177 underlever and do find it easier with the longer shots despite being a springer.

    Missing that second shot on that rabbit though, with sticks too!🤣

    Surely someone with Paul's experience must realise why he was missing every shot at the rooks?
    He zeroed as you normally would with the rifle horizontal, but the shots he was taking were virtually vertical. Gravity would have less effect on the trajectory of the pellet when taking the vertical shot.

      Correct, of course it affects the .22, more than the .177.
      Experienced air gunners would know this and adjust their aim accordingly.

    The blood dripping at 4:40 shows hardly any shock was delivered to the bird and the pellet was a straight through.

    • @jaketodd52
      @jaketodd52 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We are talking air rifles here, not centre fire rifles. What degree of "shock" are you expecting from a pellet?

    • @henrynorth6558
      @henrynorth6558 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Consider the size of the bird, if you scale it correctly a .177 to the bird is like a 223 to a human. So there is a large amount of hydrostatic shock

    • @richardjones2811
      @richardjones2811 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@henrynorth6558 Think you've got your ratios way wrong 😂
      A .223 isn't much larger than a .177
      A .177 to a bird would be the same as atank shell size to a human.
