  • The time Andy is in one of Fife's many large rookeries, shooting rooks (young 'branchers') with his none too modern, trusty old spring-powered air rifle. Watch as he takes some incredible shots, allowing for quite a breeze.

    You mentioned a rook rifle,..I have one,..it is a 25/27 cal. centerfire cartridge,single shot,.with triple leaf rear sights,...name on the rifle is W.R.Pape. Rifle is in really good condition,.and a very neat tidy style.
    Have you any idea where I might find some ammunition for this in Canada ? The rifle was given to me by my Father, about 55 years ago. I sure wish I could shoot with this again.

    hi
    please may i ask
    what pellets do you use in your 177 lightning? i have an old original brummie lightning in 177 and it will put 3-4 accurate shots out and then flyers, the trigger isn't a lot to write home about but i love the compactness of the rifle. i did put a new breech seal in it, i crowned the breech a little, it kicks like a mule but it does have a square section spring giving 11.5 ftlbs over the chrony, its a gun i would love to use but at the moment its just to inconsistent .i have been using air arms 4.52 diablo in it and those are pellet on pellet in my tx200 .

    No rook rifles in the 18th C--no cartridge rifles either. Rook rifles came in the late 19thC, but their use declined with the Firearms Act of 1920. Just saying. No criticism of an interesting video.

    Hi Andy, what are your thoughts on using a silenced .410 shotgun for branchers in similar conditions?

    • @FromField2StreamTV
      @FromField2StreamTV  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes a .410 would be a great wee gun for branches especially once they start to fly.

    Hello. Nice vid and job you did !! Lovely gun ! Is it true that you have to have a firearms licence in Scotland to shoot air guns ? Greet´s from Norway. Thumb up !

      Yes that's correct, even under 12ftlb airguns and 6ftlb pistols.

    Well 5 or 600 pellets were not required then, so how many pellets were required to shoot 30 rooks and could a pcp rather than a ppc have done the job without an easy to do refill ? Nice shooting by the way.

    • @FromField2StreamTV
      @FromField2StreamTV  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats one of 15 rookeries covered each day during the brancher season. A PCP is a pain in the butt if you shoot high volume.

    • @MarkWilliams-so6vc
      @MarkWilliams-so6vc 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah! High volume shooting - still a lower count rifle like my HW 100 KT will put at least "Fifty" dead rooks at my feet for each refill.A pcp is a great rifle for pest control and most pcp`s will offer "far more " shots per refill than my deadly accurate hw 100`s 50 or so.
      It is no bother at all to refill my pcp on a high volume useage.
