@@ankur1283 it was his choice to become semi classical singer, he could well have become a classical singer with his talent. Nobody has composed so many ghazals in so many different moods. His strength is ultra complex improvisation without losing rhythm. I have seen so called big ustad getting betala while attempting improvisation but not ghulam ali. He has a god gift of extremely rich voice with very wide range. That's why he is regarded by many ustads as on of only kind of singers.

Both Ghulam Ali Saab and U Zakir Hussein Saab are just superb... what a lovely melody they’ve given us. Ghulam Ali Saab’s fingers on harmonium and U Zakir Ji’s fingers on Tabla are just too magical. Listened to this Ghazal many times but still the heart isn’t filled. It says the year is 2018 (and I could be wrong) but it must be like 15-20 years back they must have sung/ played this Ghazal together! Dil Khush Hua! 🤟🙌🙏🙏
It's a recording from 1983 and Birthday concert of Ustad Allah Rakha. You can hear ghulam ali saying" taddi rehmaat hai" and " Allah tenu salmaat rakhe" . The audience was quite small and my uncle was a member. It was their home in Mumbai.
