Although he might have tried it out for a night or two, I'm pretty sure Elon never lived in the Boxabl Casita on SpaceX property. He was curious about its novel construction and probably wanted it there to see how it is in real life, as an experiment. I read where when at Space X, he lives in a rather modest home nearby, under 1000 square feet, that he had renovated. I think it's more private than where the Casita is located. He might stay in a different place altogether, as I'm sure he's a little paranoid about where he stays.
The boxable house is right in Elons backyard next to some other test units. He also paid $50,000 for the house that was on the property many years ago.
@@automateconstruction Right. Thanks for reminding me of that. That's why his initial tweet where he said he lived in a $50,000 seemed almost intentionally misleading in retrospect. About a hundred bloggers assumed he meant the Boxable home, since that is $50,000 home many people knew was built near SpaceX. It was prescient of me when I posted a comment on a Boxabl TH-cam video a few months before the Boxabl was erected at SpaceX, that Elon should take a look at it, and build something like it, or maybe back them to help them get off the ground if he thought it was good. But I guess Boxabl is doing well on their own now, and Elon buying one was a huge boost for their business, even if he never says another word about it.
I really hope for everyones sake someone at Tesla is smart enough to point you out to Elon - best thing for all concerned. p.s. Love your energy and positivity - Great job and fantastic vlog!
SpaceX employees here speaking anonymously (yep - this isn't my real name.) You can indeed get an up close look, but you can't bring any cameras with you if you do. Employees are generally permitted to take people on tours of the facility, depending on where and in what facility. But, it's only for people they know and trust personally, and they have to clear it with security first. And again I have to stress, NO cameras and NO recording. If you even try, you'll probably get the employee in a great deal of trouble, possibly cost them their dream job, so they aren't going to bring in just anybody.
While you are at World of Concrete in Las Vegas this week will you be checking out 3d large scale printer corporations like Black Buffalo? Hopefully you can fill us in on rental prices for their printers and estimates on material costs. Thanks
Cobod is printing here. Geopolymer institute is here too but not printing, sika may print. Black Buffalo Mudbots and Icon are here as visitors not booths.
You didn’t know Elon contributes directly on the manufacturing line and engineering? He’s personally solved engineering issues for Tesla on multiple occasions. The best salesman is no salesman simply good engineering.
Pumicecrete is by far the best building material on the planet Pumicecrete is a mixture of 10 parts pumice to 1 part cement and 1.5 parts water mixed and poured into a set of reusable forms walls are poured from 12"to 24" thick pumicecrete is fireproof termite proof rust rot and mold proof and has a high R value and good sound attenuation solid poured walls means no critters can live in your walls Pumicecrete can be built for a fraction of the cost and time and pumice is the only material that can go directly from the mine to the job site ready to use without any additional possessing and zero waste and when Elon buys a pumice mine then 80% of what you build your home out of is free without supply chain issues and never an increase in material costs EVER Why would you build out of anything else
It is very likely they would do training or testing new stuff on the homes they own so that customers don't have to deal with imperfections caused by the learning curve
@@automateconstruction I was joking about your dog, Jarett. I put laughing faces on it. It was so funny the way that your dog was running around when you were trying to film a video. I am so sorry if I caused any problems. I love your videos, Jarett
So Awesome - every part of this video - thank you.
Excellent and informative video, Garrett!

Might be interesting to 3D print a huge dome and put multiple unpressurized "airstream" like units in the pressurized dome.

Good insight thank you. I am always careful to stay on public property. The last thing I want to do is hinder the incredible work going on down there!

Just another sales pitch from Elon, who is just a salesman. Only you worked for him for free.

SpaceX has never even gone to space.. Everytime they try to break the plane of the Firmament, the rockets fail and fall back to the ocean.
