Letter For Apple Computer Dear Apple Computer, I really love this computer you made, the PowerBook 5300c. It works great for my whole life, my text, my games and my text and my games. it works great. I hope you make a newer software to run on this because i see my friends with PC's and it looks better! but now people are telling me that this is a very old laptop and that i should get the latest. Should I? This is suiting my needs so well. I am also looking for a new battery for this computer
I believe the true reason behind the whole "PC Taintedness" is the fact that Windows partitions don't preserve the information that tells Mac OS what app can open the program. Windows also doesn't support the additional resource fork, so Apple decided to just make the default format for files coming from a Windows filesystem "PC Formatted".
I don't think it'll work. Actually, even if it did, these things are so old, you wouldn't even notice a huge speed difference. You'd have bottleneck problems with the transfer rates I think. Add to that a slow ass processor & RAM
You can make RAM disk on modern Mac OS. But you can't do that with GUI like that... (But once it's created, it can be formatted(or whatever) using Disk Utility. And there are some third-party utilities to make making RAM disks easier if I remember correctly.)
Rear Ports: Video Out (computer reset is the button underneath that), Audio In, Audio Out, SCSI, Modem/Printer, ADB, Power They were NOT supposed to boot unless you hit the poser button. Mine never did and it still does not do this. If yours does there is something wrong with it.
The PC files thing you were talking about is definitely not true, you either go into PC file settings and select which program you want to open a certain file extension with, directly open it from the program, or open the file and tell the PC what you want to open it with.
Khoi Sousa whoa, a few lines would have been enough. --- Anyway, the mini-din jack of ADB has exactly the same pinout as S-Video though. You can indeed use an S-Video cable for ADB and vice versa.
+Shane S. Ubuntu doesn't support PowerPC. However Debian supports PowerPC but the 603e may not be powerful enough to run it properly. I believe it requires a G3 at least.
18:42 we see your cat. don't try to hide it

I think we all had a floppy disk like that with saucy pictures on as a kid, labeled as something else ;)
I'm a little disappointed that he didn't open those other files for us.

shesnailie . Not sure why it wont let me reply to you normally, but thanks for the info! I had no idea.

I don't think it'll work.

Whats your day job?
Kid Pix is not a good name.
And a 15 fps camera!
You can make RAM disk on modern Mac OS.
But you can't do that with GUI like that... (But once it's created, it can be formatted(or whatever) using Disk Utility. And there are some third-party utilities to make making RAM disks easier if I remember correctly.)
what cat do you have (you may need to make a video about your cats lol)
Time to re-revisit it, to put an SSD in it!
Hey Druaga! Can you send me the HD icon used on this Powerbook? I can't find it for my Powerbook 520 or 3400...

Should be 25-pin SCSI if I'm not mistaken
Look, it has S-Video!
totally not true.
Khoi Sousa whoa, a few lines would have been enough.

Anyway, the mini-din jack of ADB has exactly the same pinout as S-Video though. You can indeed use an S-Video cable for ADB and vice versa.
Philip vB ikr. Btw, I don't think that jack (HDMI thingy-thing) is SCSI. I think that's it's for a dock or something like that.
Khoi Sousa How about look it up? I don't know for sure neither.
i can't find the original video
The big port i thibk is for the apple external floppy drive
Where can I download simple text for Windows Vista and XP dragula1

That's not a proprietary docking port. That's SCSI.

+Delfabit Ubuntu is Linux.... one of the many Linux distributions
+Shane S. Ubuntu doesn't support PowerPC. However Debian supports PowerPC but the 603e may not be powerful enough to run it properly. I believe it requires a G3 at least.
+iBallasticwolf2 afaik some ubuntu derivatives still support ppc, i think lubuntu
It looks like all of the Ubuntu distros support PPC, my bad. But I can say even Lubuntu would not run well on a PowerPC 603e if at all.
+iBallasticwolf2 IIRC desktop Lubuntu requires 256MB of RAM or more
100th comment!
hello evreybody? what about hey smokers? UNSUB AND DISLIKE
floppy on a laptop... wtf
***** that's weird. for me. i've never seen that
