Dude, this is awesome. I mean that in a most literal way, don't ever change your style of content if you don't feel like you have to, because this is YOUR style of content, camera on screen, cooking food while recording, treating the viewer like a house guest sometimes, also sometimes high! I mean some of the greatest tech youtubers adore you! So anyways, congrats on 100k WOO.
24:53 I seriously thought that was a "the hard disk failed and now things are bad" beep, but it turns out it was just a "your food is ready for consumption" beep.
First SE/30 had no bong at startup = needs recap immediately or it'll fail very soon. Third SE/30, same thing. Seriously, these Macs have suicidal electrolytic capacitors that, when they fail, they leak all over the logic board and eat all the traces. If you buy a Classic Mac, RECAP THE BOARD!
32:00 My guy literally just adapted a DB15 to RCA and then plugged it into a device that has the video quality of oatmeal that's been sitting for hours
It’s awesome to see you upload computer stuff again. Even though you come and go we still love everything you post. Hope you will start posting a lot more!
For the love of god, make sure you’ve taken the batteries out and replace them! That SE/30 and the classic 2 are both so beautiful for being stock, it would be horrible if they were destroyed. Probably would be a good idea to recap them just in case as well. Also, good to know I’m not the only one with literally 20 compact Macs in the basement. I just can’t pass up a good deal. I try to justify it that I’m a collector not a hoarder, but it’s clear we both know the truth when it comes to that... Edit: Also seriously! No OG Mac or fat Macs. Com’on man, I expected more from you. I have a HDD image built with games and all the utilities needed for both the SE and another for the SE/30 which I use for my machines. I can post them if there’s interest.
Jackson Tech Things In fairness, probably 5 of them are ones I need to part out. I bought quite a few SEs and even an SE/30 mostly for the keyboards and mice (along with the floppy and hdd) since they were super cheap (aka less then the keyboard cost). The condition on them is so bad that they really aren’t worth repairing. Most of the logic boards are trashed. I do however have 6 working SE/30s all with various upgrades. The SE/30 was my first computer so I have a sore spot for it. A hoarding show “expert” would say I’m still trying to replace my original machine my mom made me sell way back when so I take in any unwanted machines to compensate. Now as for the other compacts the two Quadra 700s, the Lisa, 4 iMacs g3, two g4, TAM, PowerMacs, and (for some reason) three Mac Pros, well, I have no excuse. I keep hoping one day I’ll have more time and make content on them but just haven’t had a chance. Probably would be better if I didn’t have a basement so it would force me to stop...
Jon's Tech Channel I know he has other machines, but when you feature a Classic, SE/30, and SE my OCD demands that an OG machine be shown so you have all the revisions represented (preferably both the 128/512k and the plus).
That's a lovely selection of classic Macs! The 840av is awesome. Love this style of video from you. Takes me back to messing with computers on my bedroom floor with my mate, including the hectic search for an elusive cable! Good stuff!
I really enjoy the vids where you dont really have a "Goal" to work towards just showing off just trying stuff and such is amazing! Keep up the great work and smoke on !
Amazing video, Druaga! I watch your videos since I guess 2016 or 2017 and this one really feels like your old school videos) Really love the format, even tried making same kind of videos about messing with PCs myself, though they are in russian and not so popular! Keep up the good work, fella!
It would be strange seeing you on a episode of Hoarders. "A man that goes by the name Druga1 has been collecting vintage apple computers all his life."
The "flickery" 5000 sub tribute at the end (x20) is really cool. It's like a time capsule to back like 2012ish(?). Lots of My Little Pony profile pictures. lol
I collected 3 Power PC Macs back to back when a retro computer warehouse was liquidating here in Houston, Texas. Let's just say I'm done collecting classic Macs for now...for reasons. The Power Mac 6100/66 DOS Compatible is pretty neat though, I must admit, but still has problems. The plastic is so brittle in those things too!
I have 4 of these mini Macs, two Classic II's, one is pristine and 100% working after recapping the board, the other the hard drive just died and the case is yellowed. The key is replace the capacitors, on the logic board if it had the little silver can SMD caps, or several of the ones on the analog board that typically go bad. The problem with your nice looking one is probably bad leaky caps on the logic board or a bad safety cap on the analog board. 'The Dead Mac Scrolls' book/pdf on the internet has a good list of potential issues and common failure points to fix. 6:38 The VERY early Macintoshes were built in Fremont, California, the building is still there, it's really nice, my original 128k was built there.
I think I can diagnose at least some of those from this video: Classic II - More than likely the power filtering caps right off the AC socket are bad. Dual floppy SE: The spring loaded / motorized parts of the drives need to be disassembled, cleaned, and greased. It also won't boot off that 1.44 meg floppy, because both of its drives are 800k. Phantom hard drive SE/30: There are rubber bump stops inside those old hard drives for the drive head arm to hit. Over time, they degrade into sticky goo the drive can't pull the arm out of. Other than that it looks okay. "Jail bars" SE/30: Either the PRAM battery or the capacitors leaked and damaged traces near the VRAM. IIcx: The logic board needs to be recapped. There's a logic based soft power circuit that actually turns it on and off, like ATX motherboards can do. Leaking capacitor schmoo can make this circuit go haywire. All of these machines need to have their PRAM batteries removed, and their logic boards and power supplies recapped. That's very, very common for these old Macs.
Perhaps you can collab with The 8-Bit Guy to have him fix some tech up for you. I'm sure he'll love to see some classic stuff and make a video about it.
I found an old AMD Athlon x2 4200+ socket 939 DDR RAM computer literally thrown out, you have inspired me to make it a Linux Mint machine, I have also found enough computer hardware in the same place (mouse, keyboard and a pair of speakers a decent LCD monitor and a 500GB serial ATA hard drive from a DVR cable box) This will be a $0 Linux build and it should actually run pretty decent if it works!
The 840av was running in 256 colors mode, which slows down the probably already unoptimized Photoshop 3 when drawing 24-bit graphics to screen with dithering. I used to paint with real-time performance with ColorIt! 3 (PS competitor) on the slower 33MHz no-FPU '040 P636 running in Thousands; that program was pretty optimized, looking at its code.
I brought an imac g3 because it has the better optical drive so its less likely to fail and local. I m not a collector but i had memories for the imac g3 and wanted my own
I really hate the "Oh but 60FPS bro". I didn't even realize until you said anything with the 24FPS. Some people didn't grow up watching OTA analog cable or VHS that severely lowed their standards for the rest of their lives and it really shows
Apple's labels can be pretty cryptic. "1-1.4MB DRIVE" meant "one 1.4 megabyte floppy disk drive"... the hard disk was the "HD 40SC" on the next line down.

This is the most Druaga1 video I've seen in a while and I love it. Seriously, keep this stuff coming.
your not a Dish your a man (throws plate into a rock)
*I may have to throw it in the "send to akbkuku pile"*
1: poor akbkuku
2: Can we see this amazing pile?
Never thought I’d ever see a man using a Macintosh on a screen the same size as the one on an iPod 4th gen.
Yea ikr
Somewhere LGR is watching this and going, "Well it's a nice keyboard. But it's no unopened model M"
I read that in Dukes voice too

Apple tech support be like:
Did you try turning it off and turning it on again?

That Quadra is so fucking loud, it sounds like an ultrasonic jet.
lol, 40 minutes of Druaga1 testing his mac classics, which is like four-ish videos in one.

It has been an honor and a pleasure to spend this time with you. Here's to many more good years of fun and experimentation! :D
yeah cheers baby👍
