      @@paisleygiger1848 Yeah that was rough but another group of Apollo astronauts actually came through. A guy saw his famous interview where Elon almost starts crying talking about how they where his heroes growing up so he got a bunch of Apollo astronauts to sign a picture of a Falcon 9 with well wishes and congratulations on their success. It's now displayed at SpaceX. And also some of the astronauts where misled and told misinformation about Elon and SpaceX to make their statements. Here's a link: www.flickr.com/photos/jurvetson/7547788856 It's actually really sweet and a bunch of Apollo guys since walked back on that, especially Buzz. He's been super positive about SpaceX recently. Sadly Neil passed away before SpaceX really started to have success, so Elon will always have to live with the memory of his hero putting him down... I'm Dutch, but probably just as happy for the US as Americans are. They've been the leading force in space for as long as i can remember, and innovation from them usually contributes to helping the entire world forward, in the long run. I hope they'll never find themselves without their own options to launch ever again, now it's only up from here on out.
    I hope the private industry starts, if they haven't already, a space renaissance and a space economy that leads to the moon, mars and in the far future even beyond. I'll probably won't see the latter part, but it's been a privilege to witness the first steps. The future is yet to be made, may it be one of pioneers and exploration.

      Personally...I HATE it. And think pure touch screen interface is less effective instead of mixed: some touch, some dedicated physical controls. There's a reason your iPhone has autocorrect ... and wearing gloves makes it that much less reliable. Just look at cockpits in fighter jets. Sure, they have displays -- but they have buttons around the edges, and HOTAS. I understand that to some it looks cool and certainly looks clean. But I'll need convincing before I'd ever agree that it's the best choice. What if the display has a failure also. Critical functions need physical switches, buttons, etc.

Does it really matter who is the one travelling to space? At least in space exploration human race should recognise that we are one species and it does not matter which country or region we come from? we are all earth citizen. I am from Austria, we have no space travelling oportunities, not a single esa astronaut. Seeing this big "america launch" logo everywhere makes me feel kind of discriminated. • @1wdc
      @1wdc 4 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      @@Redfiregtag In the sense you're using "zero gravity" as meaning an absence of gravity: there's no such thing as "zero gravity". Their lateral velocity relative to the surface of earth is enough to keep them at a constant altitude because it matches the rate of their gravitational attraction towards earth. They're experiencing "Zero-g" or 0 G-forces, in the way you're referring to zero gravity you would also be saying that they have "more gravity" when under acceleration since they are experiencing more than 1G. They're still under the effect of over 95% the same gravitational influence as we are on the surface, even outside earth's orbit they'd be in the orbit of the sun, and outside the solar system they'd be under the influence of the milky way's center of mass. Anywhere there's mass, there's gravity.

    • @steelb3rg
      @steelb3rg 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@1wdc I guess this wouldn't have any impact on how you experience the g's and is basically negligible but: technically its not even 0g because the space station is constantly losing velocity from collision with gas particles (~0.1 mph/day). They have to boost the station once a month to compensate.
      Edit: Another way of thinking of their gravitational forces would be a falling plane. In the same sense that you would float around in there, they are floating in the space station. The only difference is that they are falling perpetually (because of their speed).
