- NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy watched the launch of the Space Demo-2 mission from the International Space Station. Cassidy also had a lot of work to do preparing for their arrival. I have a university degree in English and Russian languages (none of them being my native language - I am from Slovakia) and it´s great for me to hear both the American astronaut speaking English AND Russian, and the Russian cosmonaut speaking Russian AND English. The spirit of Soyuz/Apollo is not dead yet.... :)

Yes this gets me too; its beautiful to hear 2 languages interchanged, in such technical ways, so fluidly; Astronauts/Cosmonauts have skills i can only aspire to :)
I love how everyone hugs and shakes hands when boarding or leaving the ISS. Makes me happy, but why can't we ALL be like that on Earth? :(

I think it's all the gravity getting us all down. And pandemics and what-not. Hopefully landing on the moon again will rekindle some of that sensation that spread throughout the world in the 60s and 70s.

This was such a great video. It showed so much of the human aspect of spaceflight and how even astronauts in orbit are excited for new technology and safe arrival of fellow crew.

As a child we lived right beside NASA.
We watched the many mission launches & the shuttle launches.
(Night launch - like a star rising)
So, for me, this video brings a level of excitement that I love.
Everything we do to explore and reinvent ourselves is so important to our futures.

We had passes for the visitor center on July 16th, 1969. My mom kept say that morning “C’mon, get out of bed, this is important!”

Back when the restricted area during launch was smaller, I flew a light plane on the southern edge of the restricted area at 25,000’ in a racetrack pattern to watch the launch with 5 of my buddies. Looking down we could the shuttle easily as it was lit by the giant carbon arc lights. When the solids fired, a ring of orange light filled the entire cape area, followed by white light as it lifted off that let us see shadows back to the West all the way to Orlando. Even though the action was considered safe and outside the exclusion area, we had the feeling that we were too close when it flew by us. As well over half of earths atmosphere (density) was below us we could see the solids peel off once spent. We could see the RS-25 burning almost through the entire burn or about 8 min. Listening to the call on the radio while watching the launch, we heard the announcement, “Columbia now crossing the western shore of Africa “ as it cleanly and instantly went out of sight over the horizon.
All of the glass in the aircraft was covered in face prints after we landed.

(For those who aren't familiar: the lunar orbiter segment of Chandrayaan-2 has the best camera currently in orbit around the Moon and is still returning good data -- outstanding.) So much awesome space stuff happening, and every year at a faster pace.

watching "tv" in a space, seeing rocket launch which will dock with your space station in few hours, hows that feel. Its pretty cool. With that program on, it feels like hes in a camper(in space lol).

What are the little colorized points of light at 08:20? I thought it was dust on the camera lens but notice his hand and the top Port Side window both have none of the little lights on them so it had to be something deliberate. Or im wrong and someone will correct me below (hopefully) 🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@elevatorphish Yes, and that camera had been that way for years. I've seen those dead pixels in some of the older tour videos. They aren't actually dead, but stuck in some state and won't change. You can really see them at 9:29

I have a question. In the God forbid situation that the ISS has to be evacuated asap. Are the spacesuits compatible with the different spacecraft? Ie, could a Russian Cosmonaut, wearing a Russian spacesuit come down on a Spacex dragon? Or, could a Astronaut wearing a Spacex or even Starliner suit come down in a Soyuz? If the answer is no, don’t you think they should be compatible, at least the air and power connections. Thanks
In future, the astronauts doing self shot videos should film themselves showing us an idepenedent webpage with the current time and date, such as timeanddate.com. This way, it is easy to verify when the shot was taken. This way, no one can deny the moments at which things were recorded.

I have a quistion, you know how there is no sound in space? How do you get sound in the space ship?
Because the inside of the spacecraft is pressurised, sound needs a medium to travel through which you don't get in space
There is air inside both the ISS and the space craft. They have to breathe! And the air is at near ground-level atmospheric pressure so the density of the air feels normal inside the ISS and space craft. The pressurization means they have to equalize the pressures between the ISS and the space craft before they can open the hatch between the two vessels. Otherwise, the air inside one could rush into the other with potentially harmful results.

They basically crap in a good looking toilet box thing and they just dispose it when it gets full.They pee in a sick looking wire thing that converts it to fresh water.
The crew dragon brought home trash such as poo. Empty food bags etc. When expedition 63 comes home this autumn they will bring home too. Every crew arriving with cargo and they leave with waste aswell. They also have cargo ships incoming with food, oxigen etc. Its a fine circle. They have to do to not swim in waist.
