Launch day for any astronaut is very focused, and with SpaceX's Crew Dragon coming online, many more people will have an opportunity to go to low earth orbit and potentially beyond.
I break down from the time the crew leaves home to lifting off into space in this exciting tail of preparing to ride a Falcon 9 in a Crew Dragon. It's first flight will be DM-2 with astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley.

I've been watching the space program since 1965 during the Gemini program. I watched live broadcasts of the missions in space and moon landings. Now it is the time for the private sector to take a bigger role in space. I will definitely watch the upcoming launch.

You would have a right to be nervous, and have plenty of time to think about everything that could go wrong. You are basically sitting on top of a highly-controlled bomb and if anything broke or didn't go to plan, you will very likely die. In the future, space travel will get safer I'm sure. The crews of today have it a lot safer than the crews in the early days.

Flying into the lower orbit is nothing special...seriously. Too much of a hype these days for so little. Just think back when Apollo Missions were started, they got the job done without a lot of fuss. These days ...we're wasting so much time for perfecting everything. Sometimes I wonder if they really went to the moon given the huge amount of preparation they are making for a flight to the ISS.

1:38 What space capsule uses an open differential? I would think Dragon would have at least gone for limited slip if not a true locker.

It was unfortunately. The weather wasn’t safe enough for a take off or if a recovery team had to be sent out due to an emergency landing in the water. It’s now this Saturday around an hour earlier

Elon Musk has done so much for space travel. Kind of hard to believe that a hundred years ago, space travel was seen as a thing of fiction. Then we got rockets, sent humans to the moon, surrounded the planet in orbiting satellites, and now have reusable rockets that can land.
Now we need to create a system to transport between planets. With the right modifications, a rocket could take an initial crew to, say, the Moon or Mars and land them on the surface. However, I kind of think it would be better to have separate dedicated systems. For example, a large plane that takes a craft to high-altitude to launch into orbit. This craft will then dock with an orbiting station to transfer its payload. Then, the payload is put onto another craft that will make the trip between Earth orbit and, say, Mars orbit. Once at Mars, dock with an orbiting station. Transfer the payload to another craft that will handle the landing on Mars. This might take longer to set up, but once set up, it will likely make travel between two bodies pretty cheap and reliable.
Once there is a system in place, to set up transport to a new planet, would just need to build an orbital station and lander/launcher for the new planet then transfer the whole thing to the new planet and put it into orbit. Then send a crew to the surface to build a base to complete the new planet set up.

While the spacecraft Dragon was approaching the ISS , a camara was pointing at the ISS. Behind the space station you could clearly see a blinking light moving in the distance. Then the camara was quickly changed .

If we haven't have manned space flight in 9 years , then how do the astronauts get back and forth from earth and to the space station?

And to think. It was only 55-years ago that we looked at squeezing human beings into something euphemistically called a "crew compartment" as "Spam in the can."

Fascinating to see the transition from government agency to private company. The old government program had older guys in white lab coats. Now we have millennials in jeans and t-shirts.

I was hooked in the 50s, tried to follow every development, from the X-plane series, the Vanguard poops, the Atlas failure and success, the Mercury, Gemini programs, the dumbfounding shock hearing JFK announce the moon landing commitment, the Apollo program (and the Rockwell Block-1 failure), the Apollo moon missions, and almost every Shuttle mission.
I started with tubes, then TTL, then AD-conversions, CMOS, and now I'm fascinated with layered SLC to QLC capabilities.
I only wish that I could be around when we stop pushing electrons and learn to do this with photons, what I'll call "cold-light processing."
I am proud to see what they have learned with SpaceX. It's a continuation of applied knowledge. It happens because so much was done before. I can only imagine what will follow in the next generation. I wish them every success.
