Since I moved back to wales I have found lost family from the valleys. We are all so happy. They were not actually lost as they were still in the same village but had moved. The power of facebook helped as i posted on the community page to help me find them. I have gone back to being a child again all the memories flooding back
Really enjoyed this video Sean, Mr Boaty is a very interesting man and I'll check out his channel. Incredible views, thank you for taking us along for the ride.
We live in rural wales now after a stint in the city . 2019 i was out walking very early with my dogs. Unfortunate for me i was in the wrong place and was attacked . Turned out to be a illegal migrant after that city life was stressful i couldnt face going out alone. Then 2020 we decided sell up move into rural wales the peace and calm of the mountains Round me gave me back my mojo loving life again ❤
It did feel exactly like that, on my part at least! I guess that’s one of the quirks of both being content creators in this social media age we live in. So although it was the first time we met in person, having inured ourselves in each other’s videos actually spending time together felt entirely natural and not at all uncomfortable…
Interesting that you mentioned the number of cars.I remember going back to various places I lived as a child and that was what I noticed .The number of cars parked had grown sizeably .
This is fabulous! You had asked what kind of content I enjoyed, and this is indicative of that! Really enjoy hearing old stories, and seeing your old stomping grounds! Glorious!
Hi Sean. I'm keen to subscribe to your no dig allotment channel but can't find it, I couldn't find the link in episode 27. Can you tell us how to find it please. Thanks
There is no allotment channel, everything is on this channel. You might have been watch a video from last autumn. Im now living in Wales and just took on a new plot.
It amazes me how the smallest change can completely throw off your memory of an area. In one of the houses that we lived in growing up in Great Falls, Montana there was an empty lot on the corner of the block where we would play for hours. In the last 10 years a house was finally built there and for the life of me, when I drive back there the missing lot completely throws me off and I miss the turn more often than not! Change, for better or worse, just happens so gotta deal with it...
I always went one way to a friend's place, knew the road by a big house on the corner. Last time I got lost because the house was gone and I had to ring friend to ask where I was, I'd gone miles away.
I was just thinking.. how have you not been to the Lakes... and at the same time aware, I've never been to the Rhondda...😮.loved the drive but would drive me nuts at 20 mph😂
Thanks Mr Boaty now we need to see this new Heads of the Valley road. Did that road regularly for 30 years but then parents in law moved to Abergavenny.
Enjoyed your car ride video, reminded me of my father taking my family to visit the Brecon Beeches. Beautiful scenery.Glad it was a clear day to see the views.
Love this video. However, in my humble opinion, regarding new buildings, if possible, the villagers should get together to demand a legit contract that promises they will get a negotiation to get a substantial discount if they want to buy their properties or the new ones. Not the extortionate prices that are and will be held. Communities need to stay together with their families and why should outsiders benefit more than the indigenous people it's wrong 🎉
Great video and i love the scenery .thank you Mr Boaty and Sean. How very beautiful it is there. I love it .Thank you. I don't blame you Sean for wanting to get a car .think of the places we could visit with you.maybe you could find a good deal on one. I really enjoyed the stories and the scenery and the company of you and Mr.Boat.
Another entertaining video, nice to see a bit of Wales I'm not totally familiar with. I'm in the process of moving to Wales from NI so it's good to see new bits. Am hoping to get to Aberystwyth though as that's where my parents graves are.
I wanted to thank you Sean for advice you gave on this channel. I have mobility issues and my home and garden were messy. You said to do a little and often. I thought about it and realized it applies to most things. I am making progress now. Bless you, you are a good man.
I, live in Upstate NY in the Mohawk Valley .it's so interesting hearing Mr. Boaty talk. Thank you. I would not want to walk up those hills, in winter. Noooo thank you
Blast from my past I'm 70 now when I was 13 I went out with a boy from Glynneath he came to my Nains village near Dolgellau to stay with his aunt in the holidays, we used to write to each other between holidays wonder where he is now not heard much mentioned of his hometown before
Thank you Sean for showing another part of Wales . You have taken a different route my friends and I take the bus 🚌 route into Brecon. And it is amazing you can see the remains of the ice age. And two pubs make lovely meals. Also in abercrave they made the film 📽️ Zulu . DIOLCH 🏴
Ahhh. Lovely rambles through memory and time. Isn't it so nice to be able to sit with someone and have them really understand what you're experiencing? It's also a nice cosy expedition in the car. We know the weather is going to be the weather, but isn't it beautiful? I thought the same thing about that tree in the middle of nature's panoramic views. I love to watch the trees grow and add character, but this is a very specific view and it just seems like someone might have considered given the tree a new home, if they didn't want to cut it down. The old cemeteries there are also a true museum. I know some find them depressing, yet the earthly remains of the footprints of the past are residing there. I so appreciate the breathtaking buildings, simple and fancy, alike. Having been raised in America, I simply didn't get to see history down so many roads. This is another reason why I know I will be staying the UK, among countless other reasons. I'm looking forward to watching the seasons change. I shall be sure to check out Mr. Boaty's page. Thanks for sharing your walk down memory lane!
How nice for you to go out travelling with another person returning to Wales and get their reaction to it. It was really interesting to watch and you two worked well together.
Just a thought, have you ever read "Wild Wales" by George Borrow, was first published in 1862. It's a journal of his wandering around Wales in a different age.
Oh my goodness… I enjoyed this so much, like I was there for the ride…. Such stunning countryside. Thankyou for sharing, loved this video.. oh btw I think you drink 6-7 cups of tea a day… what do you add to your tea ? If you don’t mind me asking. Take Care.😊
lovely to see the countryside around Ystradfellte and waterfall country. As Boaty said, the Milk Race ( a bike race) came up there in the 1980s and I remember going to see it with members of my cycling club 🙂 Latterly I used to spend most of my weekends there taking photographs and exloring all the waterfalls. There are even old gunpowder works there! Nearby where you stopped at the end there is a standing stone, one of a series of old stones (maens) in the area. Maen Mawr, Maen Madoc and Maen Llia). All very fascinating. You or Boaty might enjot a small book called "The Sacred and Secret Brecon Beacons". It's a lovely read looking at the geology, history and myths of the mountains 🙂
My training circuit when in Wales included the Rhiw. I’ll never forget the sense of sheer achievement in 1989 when I’d put in the hardest winter of training imaginable and I finally successfully climbed it on a 69” fixed! That same month I won the prime on the Wyche Cutting in the Malverns on the big ring, broke the record on the R25/7 and won the Junior BAR. I was flying! I’ll check out that book, I’d love to read it…
Lovely scenery and it's nice to see you speaking with someone etc but the sound is quite low, still audible but really quiet where normally I could do other things and still hear but couldn't today.
Lovely friendly informative chat about social history and reminiscing. Good to have a collaboration with Mr Boaty who is a very knowledgeable chap. The bus depot building👍 I Love a proper dark starry sky.
A lovely video Sean but I was struggling with the sound especially the wind blowing on the mike, I know my hearing isn’t as good as it was, I used headphones, the part I heard the clearest was when you said how much you had paid for lunch😊I am amazed that the cars are allowed to park on either side of such narrow roads!
9 pound 2 pints and a packet of crisps would have been cheaper should have taken a flask and sandwiches and sat on the mountain you would hav in joyed it more wont be going back there than
Good afternoon Sean, absolutely stunning views and informative chat, you and mr boaty worked well as a collaboration, perhaps if you do go back in the summer you could take a picnic and flask with you! £9 is a bit like London prices.hope you both didn't hurt yourself too much falling down the steps,at least you laughed it off 😂 take care Sean 💜
I probably clocked up 3 or 4 years worth of training and living on the Sennybridge camp and training ground. Beautiful area I miss to this day. The farmers used to make sure they had plenty of sheep in the area when the training flags were flying and live fire exercises were taking place. If the sheep accidentally wandered across the range and got blown up or shot. The MOD would compensate the farmer almost double their value at the time. Farmers were quids in 😂
What a fabulous road trip with you & Mr Boatyard! Just loved the flow of the video, each of u speaking about ur history in the valleys. Thank you Sean! 🙏

That was a nice trip.
Oh not the one in the toilet. 😂.
Not a bad price for a snack and a drink.

Not used to seeing Mr Boaty without Mr Mustard, they're usually together fixing Rover cars.
That sounds like a Cluedo thing!!

I need to look further into my Welsh ancestry.
Crachfonheddwr is snob in Welsh. We used to call those better off and acting superior to us "craccach".
